What a waste of time...men who use this form of meeting are pathetic and desperate and too stupid to know better...yes I would blow the idea of romance socials out of the sky with a rapid firing 20mm twin cannons like they use on the Apache helicopter. jetmba. It is the furthest thing from SPEED DATING!! It is no closer to speed dating than meeting a girl downtown at any meeting place would be. The only thing similar is that there are a lot of girls - that's it. If that is speed dating then every trip to an airport or a restaurant you ever take is speed dating. You meet the girls IN PERSON! (IS that so scarey for you?) You go out with some if you want - you go out with one if you want - some guys didn't go out with ANY! They were losers. (Pretty much as I guess you would be so maybe this ISN'T for you.) It amazes me that fools like aussieman and dumdum danny are experts on everything they've never done. maybe the real explanation for danny's lack of intelligence was that he EXPERTLY performed brain surgery on himslef - and sewed up his head leaving his brain out. The girls DON'T WANT A TCICKET OUT OF THE COUNTRY! No more than dumdum danny or aussieman who is scared to death to leave Australia. And if the idea of FREE FOOD SCARES YOU - then you are just too fricken cheap to be doing this. Danny would begrudge a lady a glass of champaign but got suckered into a SCAM that he had to chase the woman down for. Who is the idiot here (answer: dumdum danny). Danny has already admitted he is going to give his NEW LADY irina EVERYTHING. Can someone say SCAM BOY IS ABOUT TO BE SCAMMED AGAIN!!!! New davice for you danny - when THIS relationship falls apart (and you know it will) and you meet your next lady. Just introduce yourself - pull out your wallet and give her all of your cash and credit cards. You can save time this way. Because you KNOW she's going to get it all anyway. Why drag it out? How to make a crappy gift of crappy materials at $200. Total cost $4,200 excluding air fares, visa and registration costs, taxi's, food & beverages, wining & dining, gifts for ladies (fridge/freezers excluded) and anything else except getting from a far off airport (when the city in question has it's own airport), a crappy apartment and 10 escort ladies with their managers, sorry I mean their interpreters, in tow. jetmba. Very beautiful, wonderful women get a little tired of going to the things and getting snubbed, in favor of the youngest and prettiest women who seem to get most of the attention. There ARE certainly some loser guys who attend (certainly not as low as danny but still very low). First went to Odessa in 2003, then to Donetsk in 2007. In Odessa there were 15 guys. In Donesk there were 18. Absolutely different Romance Tour companies (first company had gone out of business in 4 years). Yet amazingly ONE of the 18 guys in Donetsk - I ALSO happened to meet at Odessa in 2003 (what are the odds?). Seems he had attended some FIFTEEN Romance Socials during the interim - so obviously HE wasn't very serious. Must say though that there were more NORMAL guys in Odessa in 2003 than in Donetsk in 2007. Quality of the guys had gone down (again though still much above danny) and consequently the quality of the girls. BUT there were still some WONDERFUL girls. And I met the best of the best of the best. I had incredible success in BOTH instances. Most guys in Odessa werer also successful, Guys in Donetsk, in general, less so. jetmba. After collecting your baggage at the airport and going through customs - look for the nearest trash receptical. Put a bow on it (or glue a bottle cap, whatever) so it looks "gorgouse" and give scoops of it to any girls you happene to meet. Women of irina's quality will LOVE it. They will attach it to the walls inside their houses - and you will be on your way to meeting a girl in the "danny way"! But all over this 'FSU dating malarky' has become too commercialised with individual companies 'ripping off' and a suggested introduction to 10 'closeted' ladies, with accommodation included, for a fee of $4,200 just falls in line with how this 'malarky' has been dragged in to the gutter. But, and as you may know my wife was an agency interpreter, I ran it past her one day if she would have ever attended a 'romance social' and her answer was a most definite 'NO' thus a certain 'type' of lady may be believed to attend, or not attend, such an event. So, I have my own personal, perhaps naive, opinions of romance socials and anybody else that puts romance socials down, indeed slates them off, having never attended one needs to appreciate that these are only their personal, and perhaps naive, opinions also. There were GORGEOUS 18 year old women, just out for a good time and a chance to maybe eat out at a fancy restaurant. There were definitely a few hookers (hey, they exist anywhere). There were older professional women, (doctors, dentists, dentists) etc. who were a bit cynical but nevertheless THERE. There were single mothers who maybe DID want to get out of the country. There was a dress designer who just thought that maybe I had some business contacts who would buy her dress designs. There were sweet matronly types who just seemed to like any attention. I seem to have a knack for picking out really incredible women at these functions and there were certainly AT LEAST a few of those. All I know was that I found two of them, some four years apart. And I am very happy. Personally, if I were a woman, I WOULDN'T want to attend. I imagine it can be humiliating to attend as one of 200-250 each night (three nights) and there are only 15 or 18 guys TOTAL who might be intrested in you. The odds are just not in the lady's favor. But I am a guy. And the odds were defintiely in my favor. And the ladies I met AND I were both quite happy with the results. " Should elaborate on this one. One woman I met in Donetsk fit this category. She was BEYOND gorgeous - tall and runway model looking - quite possibly the most beautiful woman I have ever seen in person. I'm a regular guy - and trust me - if I met a woman like this anywhere else - it would have to be in New York, Paris or Milan - and certainly she would not even SPEAK to me much less acknowledge that I exist. I mean - this girl was so beautiful she could take your breath away. So just for the hell of it - I asked her out to dinner - and she graciously accepted. I certainly knew that things were never going to work out long-term between us - her being 18 and so gorgeous, me being ordinary and 49 - but I wanted to do it anyway. Had a wonderul time while it lasted. I can now say that I dated the most gorgeous woman I have ever seen. (Few guys can make that claim). The girl I ended up with is nearly as beautiful but much more down to earth and mature. I don't think romance socials are the way to go to meet a FSU lady...it sounds so unconvincing on the fiance visa application "How I meet her, oh I did not know her from a bar of soap until I meet her at a cindy agency romance social and we spent a week together and decided to get married and apply for the visa"...she will never get the visa, theres insufficient evidence that a relationship been estasblished..its too shotgun to be believable! For an Aussie, I think you will need two trips to the FSU for the same lady before you apply for a fiance visa ( prospective spouse sub-class 300 ) to make it beleivable enough for them to issue a visa or at least 2 to 3 months with her in one trip...save up your annual leave and long service leave fellow Aussies for this and get it right with the right lady..you will need to spend the time with her to get the proof of relationship needed OR impractical solution 2 ( but maybe possible ), find a Ukrainian or Russian club here in Oz, make sure there are family relatives here who have a nice unmarried female relative back in the old country that they can sponsor out to Australia on a tourist visa ( its the only way an FSU women would get one as her relatives have to underwrite her to satisfy the Government ), meet her and spend time with her in Australia, take pictures together, fall in love, get engaged here and have statutory testimony to that, let her go back home, then apply for a fiance visa for her to return to Oz and marry you..saves you a big airfare and ripoff trip to the Ukraine or Russia. Some Aussies who have posted here, say a FSU women come to Australia herself on a tourist visa...yes its possible but only if a close family relative already living here sponsored her out for a visit and underwrite her..she did not get here under her own power unless she was in the elite rich upper class there...9 times out of 10 if an FSU women manages to come to Oz on a tourist visa, it was with sponsorship with a close family relative already living here as a permanent resident or citizen BUT the girls who come here won't tell you that..it does not sound good and they will lie and say they came here themselves and apply for the visa themselves..thats the truth of it, I meet a couple of Russian girls on a visit to Melbourne at Crown Casino early this year just after 07 Christmas, they got lost and wanted directions to the train station from there to get to one the outer Melbourne suburbs where they would have been staying at a relatives house..Crown casino is big and you can easily loose your bearings and get lost and I had a freindly chat to these 2 average girls, nice accents ( I think there accents are sexy ) and reasonable if not perfect english..I walked them to the right exit of the building ( it has many different facing exits ) to go to the train station and pointed it out, it was about a mile up the road. The one i am going back for seems completely different and i treat her likewise... she certainly looks special, but better than that is that she seems very genuine and has true intentions towards me.
