All jokes aside - things are getting worse by the day.
The M-Inlaw is keeping us posted on going ons in Kiev, its not looking good.
My wife also is in contact with friends (most I know also) and one that was in banking cant find any job in that feild now and cant find any job paying more than 500$ per month. She was getting 2500$pm at her prior bank job.
Sounds like the elction is on hold and god forbid - pensions might be suspended 01-01-09 :-((((
Anna from Zaporozhye can loose her job. I will be happy for her. Not for all the other people ofcourse.
I did speak with a goo friend from me today, he live s in Kerch. They blocke his account, his salary and could not take any money from the bank for two weeks.
That is awfull, and only the beginning I think.
It is tue things are getting bad for a lot of people in ukraine, and I think Russia is hoping things will get financially worse for Ukraine,as this will give Russia the excuse to move on in to ukraine and try and take back ukraine into the Russian sphere of influence.
They will be happy they suffer a bit to make more of them realize the mistakes of pro western (US) leaders and let the people do a self cleansing of this trend of late.
Russia wont let 'the people' suffer to much b4 offering aid etc. They dont want "The Ukraine" back, just want Ukraine to be a brother/sister
Russia will never be able to take control of Ukraine not now.
Things are hard there now all right people are used to spending x amount of money on
food but now that money does not stretch where it did with the weak currency and higher food
priced. I discussed this
with a number of people there mostly they are unhappy because of the price of housing
and the fact they will never be able to afford to buy their own apartment.
People seem to suffer from getting into debt with credit and paying high rates of interest
just for basic luxuries this is the Ukranian situation i experienced not Russian.
Russia Ukraine,, when have they ever been solid? the place is a yo yo financially! always has been, sad facts of third world countries and i guess this is what keeps them classed third world.
what normal person there trusts a bank???
its hard there:) come on Colin you are old enough to remember its passed.
at least we hope they may never repeat it, as in lining up for their share of over sized cans of fish and crust of bread, this wasn't that long ago,,,, that extent has happened a few times in our life time buddy, now that's a recession.
i thought that housing problem is around the world, i couldnt buy here today yesterday or five years ago:)
Russia move into Ukraine:) some people have some strange ideas:) maybe that fella should go and work for CNN:) best bullshit program in the world..
i thought Ukraine got its independents basically because of the Chernobyl disaster Maxirat,, Russia not wanting to spend anymore moneys on it, it basicaly bankrupted the countrys gold reserves, cheaper giving the problem back to Ukraine's,, their problem their country, got better things to spend moneys on type of thing:)leave the west to deal with it... who knows:)
Let's get back to the (naive) title of this thread,
Ukraine ladies, generally speaking, are NOT desperate to leave Ukraine, the poster questions if they will be more desperate to leave, well bearing in mind they are not desperate in the first instance it's kind of a 'numbskull' question.
Ukraine economy has always been shot. Why anyone would want to live there is beyond me.
Electricity is unreliable and it’s 99% the only power source. Everyone smokes, everyone drinks, Streets are filthy…no municipal structure to take care of the town, public transportation cheap but nasty. Poor air quality. Can’t drink the water, stray dogs growling at you as you walk by.
Every time they hear you speak English they bring out the western price menu.
You want to buy something of quality; you pay twice what you pay here.
It’s an economy built on deceit…the tourist economy that is…the other economy…well if you have a job your lucky…like everywhere else…but you loose that job they just dump you out on the streets…no pay no benefits.
Kirkland,
Living there is great providing that one doen't have to earn on the Ukraine economy.
Yes, electricity can be unreliable but literally everybody has gas and there is such a thing as generators. Everyone smokes? A higher percentage than in the west, yes, but everybody, you're talking with your farts! Streets filthy? Again an over exaggeration or indeed a downright lie! Public transportation? I cannot comment, I've never been that much of a cheapskate! Poor air, in places yes, in other places no! Can't drink the water? Well whatever did you drink there because it is all water based? The tap water is OK if boiled and bottled water in the shops is probably cheaper than the public transport you won't pay for either! Stray dogs? Everyone to their own, I prefer the upmarket lady(s) but if you prefer to mix with dogs, that I have never come across, then good luck to you!
Kirkland you forgot those bloody unbelievable dirty toilets,, even paying didn't help with those stinking holes:)))
what a place for a silenced 357, them dogs:)
Crimea was the worst:) but great to see they are only dog gangs not shitty young kids or men.
cool place to check out for a little time but to boring for me to live there,, cool if ya like cities i guess, i would get sick of checking beautiful women every day yeah:)
anyways, the climate will push a few more ladies out looking at the west but of cause the question is how many would be looking at the dollar you have, and checking out the laws of western countries, how long she needs to be married:)
> Electricity is unreliable and it’s 99% the only power source.
not at all from my experience. since we've had this flat in kiev for (i guess) over 5 months now, never had any problems with electricity. it's also *really* cheap compared to here! as is the gas, and water charges. all i know is that it's all included in our rent.
> Everyone smokes, everyone drinks, Streets are filthy
smoking, pretty much yes! but then so do i. also ciggies are really cheap. you'll never pay for than 1$ a pack. every morning they clean the street and take away gargage from our block of flats. it's a damn site more clean than here in portsmouth, uk anyway!
> public transportation cheap but nasty.
busses, metro and tram are *REALLY* cheap, and nothing wrong with them at all, except for they tend to be very crowded at times. at least you can just wait for no more than 5 mins and get a bus.
> Poor air quality. Can’t drink the water, stray dogs growling at you as you walk by.
air quality seems ok to me. sure you need to boil the water first, but that's no worse than other places in europe. there are *lots* of stray dogs everywhere but i only had one growl at me one time! and that is because i got way to close trying to take a photo of it!
> Every time they hear you speak English they bring out the western price menu.
ok, i can't comment as i was always with olya or her friends.
> You want to buy something of quality; you pay twice what you pay here.
depends i suppose. i bought her an adidas jacket for 80UKP, that would have cost more if bought i the uk.
anyway, i love ukraine. the people are all so friendly. and just learning a few russian words gets you a long way, and makes them even more keen to try and speak to you with some english. and kyiv is just an amazing place. i can see me living there a long time. but everyone is different and likes different thigs i guess? each to their own...
I agree travel on kiev underground is really cheap in Ukraine. I went on them a few times in ukraine with my interpretor. Standing room only.Standing next to a a lovely young lady I pinched her ass and said something to her in English ,expecting a slap around the face she turned round and smiled!!!! I think she could not raise her arms because of lack of space,we were all packed together.Doors opened and crowd got off GONE, and so was she sadly.
A senior member of the Russian lower house of parliament said recently that Russia could claim the Crimea if Ukraine was admitted to NATO.
I think Ukraine will Not join nato. However I think the western side of Ukraine will join the E.U european union and on the eastern side of the River dnepr will remain as it is.
(I think Ukraine will Not join nato. However I think the western side of Ukraine will join the E.U european union and on the eastern side of the River dnepr will remain as it is.)
So one half of Kiev would be in the European Union whilst the other half wouln't!
