Though I agree with you that it makes it difficult for the law abiding citizens who use firearms responsibly. That's my arguement and it drives me crazy when someone implies there is gunfire on every corner in America. Though that's the agenda of the anti gun crowd. What Oz was trying to describe above, especially the youth that are killed by firearms has nothing to do with legitimate law abiding citizens or accidents. Most violent gun crimes involving youth is gang related and they don't care whether it's legal or not to carry a concealed weapon. Raging Bulls statistics are correct for Indiana, though the exception to be noted of the 356 murders they predominately come from two cities. Indianapolis, which recently has seen an increase in Murder(Mostly Gang and Drug related) and Gary which had always been labeled the Murder Capital of the States, which gets bounced back and forth with Detroit as number 1. This has geographical significance since interstate 94 has always been a pipeline for drug trafficing feeding Chicago and St. Louis. My wife had a similar impression about the States as a wild west show. Leftist media will promote that there is gun play on every corner in America, which is false. When it comes to murder the United States doesn't even break into the top 20 world wide. You're more likely to be a victim of a homicide in Russia and Belorus than you will be in the states. The gun grabbers are knocking on the door and with this new administration you will see an attempt to move the agenda further. An armed citizenry repels tyranny. This is significant in a historical perspective, Hitler disarmed the people and you see where that took the world in the 1930's, Stalin did the same thing. If you look at the countries with the most restrictive gun laws you will also notice they rate the highest in violent crimes. The reason Indiana relaxed the deadly force rule was the national press Mishawaka got for the Lisa Bianco murder. Her husband was on a work furlough from prison, left and drove to Mishawaka and beat his wife to death with a shotgun in front of their children. He was in prison for assaulting her. An older gentleman witnessed this crime, he had firearms but was afraid to intervene because of the legal repercussion he might have endured for killing this murderer in the act of a felony. That's why the "retreat rule" was added. Also many people in Indiana live in Rural communities where police response can be up to 20 minutes. A lot of carnage can happen to a family in that amount of time. A person willing to break into one's home breaks the sovereignty of peace and security for people. Sometimes, the supect(s) get out of the car and starts running. These suspects are allowed to flee because they are unarmed. Never did I see a policeman shoot an unarmed man on live TV. Gun violence is concentrated into a certain sect of americans.
