guys, you didn't get my point... how the hell 5 year old kid can filter the information that bombs him from TV, video games and the street??? Things like sex and violence should be banned from everywhere... like it was before.
Alexander, Stop trying to make sense. It seems too late. I don't know who you are but if you ran for office in USA I would vote for you. The family values of yesteryear are now just a memory. It is a shame. And to even try to put the brakes on it... well then you are just a conservative freak who doesn't care about people. Baloney! Or for those checking - bologna!
Julian, you would be surprised at the conservative views that many Ukrainians hold. It's what endeared me to my wife. She has values from my parents era. Something that is missing in the states now and made my search more than worthwhile.
I have a very good female friend who is studying at college and wants to be a doctor and she funds her studies partly by doing web cam sessions.
let me guess, she's pre-med, right? lol
i don't know whats worse, a girl doing 'web-cam' porn.
or an idiot who believes she is going to be a doctor.
or me for replying to this stupid post.
Alexander,
I don't agree there is too much sex in hollywood. There was way more in the 70's. Unfortunately its been replaced with violence. imho there is too much violence in the world. wouldn't it be a better place if there was too much sex? damn those std's!!!
Damn rape too. Don't forget that the majority of predator rapists (and for that matter serial sex offenders) watch increasing amounts of porn up until they start attacking people. The same goes for paedophiles and sexually motivated serial killers.
Colin, by the time a US student reaches 6th grade, watching an average amount of TV, they will have witnessed 100,000 acts of TV violence, including 8,000 murders. De-sensitisation is a documented psychological phenomena, which is shown to increase acceptance of otherwise unacceptable behaviour. You're right that some people are simply 'wrong' in the head (which is a whole separate can of worms), but in many cases what we watch and hear does effect our behaviour.
Alexander - there's an old saying "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink". No parent can control their kids 24/7, but they can educate them. If a child is watching stuff they shouldn't be, it's through lack respect for their parents (assuming they've been told not to watch such things), or lack of education about what to watch and what to avoid. Typically, a child becomes more reliant on non-family role models (friends, teachers, TV) as they go through school. Interestingly, it is often said that a child's character is set by the age of 5 - the age they start school (in the west, at least). They either have a healthy respect/fear balance regarding their parents at this point, or they don't. This and many other aspects of core parenting are what controls what a child will or won't watch, and how much they absorb from what they watch.
Muzzy you hit it dead on again. Also the devaluation of life as a choice. Youth violence has been on the rise and it has been documented since the Roe v. Wade decision. When you desensitize and devalue life carnage is what you get.
Though I think there is hope, three different polls I read Friday about about legalized abortion, an overwhelming amount of Americans think it should be changed. The poll that shocked me was AOL where over 73% agreed in changing the law on abortion on demand. No country can be great that does not protect the child in the womb.
I always found a sick irony to a person who was charged with a double homicide because he killed a pregnant woman. When nine idiots in black robes said life doesn't begin until a certain trimester. Then again a child can almost born, head still in the woman and life snipped from him and that's okay under the law.
I think I said this before somewhere. If a woman has an abortion she should be fixed then and there. And also should the schmoe that got her pregnant. Put me in charge. I am for the death penalty. I am for castration of sex offenders. I am for common decency. And yes many will tell me to go packing. We start executing people and crime will go down dramatically. "Oh, but what about the innocent ones that may die because of an error?" How many innocent lives were sacrificed in the many wars of the world just so you can go to school or hang out at the mall? Once again, liberal B.S. An eye for an eye... We in the west a appalled by some of punishments handed out in other countries. I think it's great myself. If we start punishing offenders of common decency crime would go way down. And if parenting .... never mind F it.
Have a nice day everyone.
what I disagree with is irresponsible people getting pregnant, yes there are places less educated on the subject and do not have the means to prevent pregnancy -- but truth be told if you didn't want to get pregnant you wouldn't - so much for abstaining...
I am supporting by my income taxes children who I will never meet -- and the "parents" of said children. Sure, the world is not a fair place. But hmmmmmmmm, look what is going on in China with regard to "birth control". It's a wonder -- chicken or the egg question... which will happen first, the world comes to an end or will the people destroy themselves and leave a planet devoid of the human race. Then maybe another race will zoom in and inhabit this wonderful world. Not as many UFO sightings these days. Maybe they came to observe and figured this place is too whacky and split pronto. :)
web cam girls? as I said before it is either a survival mode or an easy way to make money.
Here is an interesting thought: If prostitution was legal the divorce rate in America would go down.
Ponder that one...
Depends what you call prostitution, what about morals, i have heard a saying called "One mans Wife is another mans Tart" it means any man and any woman whether they be married or not is capable of cheating on you. It suggests if a man is having an afair then this woman is his prostitute because she is a married woman. It is a saying that leaves a lot to ponder.
What i think Alex is saying, we are guilty of putting to much harmful temptation to our children and they become corrupted. This is true but parents have the choice, it is true that child psychologists say a childs whole life personality will be embedded on the child in the first 5 years of their life. It is the responsibility of the parent. The problem is if the parents are rotten then so will the child be. Give me the boy and i will give you the man is another good saying. It is largely down to Tv i agree with Alex on this, Tv now it is pretty lawless, can anyone here remember tv in our day, if someone swore on tv it would be shocking and end up on the news.
For the sake of freedom of speech we now have vile and irresponsible Tv that exposes our society to anything goes and say what you want when you want without fear of shocking anyone.
I remember i swore at my mother when i was a child and she almost beat my head off, now kids can not be hit there is no way to let them know that things are wrong. Some kids are not capable of reacting to reason or conversation. I knew if i ever swore at my mother again i would get a good shoeing, i never swore at her agin.
I remember my Mom's blue slipper. Somebitch hurt. amazing that we were almost picked off the groud by one hand and given the slipper treatment. A skill that seems to have been lost.
Times I hated it. Now I am proud and glad to say I was spanked for misbehaving. It is a shame now that kids can sue a parent. And the leftists support this.
