I remember "idiotdetector" questioning me, well what if your meeting falls apart what will you do just sit in your hotel room waiting for your plane. I told him no, that I was in another country that I had never been before and there would be many things to do. Why is it most guys back up plan requires the involvement of a woman? It's just my personality, I don't think you pay your full attention to the situation at hand if you worry about a back up plan. Back up plans can be made on the "fly." Pay attention to the lady you're going to see, evidently there was something that piqued your interest to meet her. I couldn't go meet multiple women on one trip. I felt that to be disingenuous. And that I had arranged such meetings through an agency in Kiev I did just that. Yet, the second 'half' of my trip was totally dedicated to one individual person. If I had to do it all over again, I would have reversed the logic. My 'back up plan' was used first. My real plan came second. Too bad I wasted my time. I cannot undo what has been done. But I only wish I would have spent the entire time with one lady. I do not regret that I met several women. A couple were just for friendship and learning about the place. It was a fact finding mission. But that I insulted someone by meeting with other ladies before her arrival cannot ever be unchanged. I must live with it. I had no problem touring around the city without having to have a woman on the agenda. I have travelled many places and finding a woman was not even part of the plan. So that this was a trip for the sole purpose of meeting a woman it seemed to be of paramount importance to always have a woman in the daily plans. Yet if it fell through, adjust to reality and live life as it is presented. I think this mindset is why men are acuused of being a sex tourist. If woman 'A' doesn't work, get to woman 'B' asap. I need to score or this was a waste of time. And yes, I admit that I didn't have a clue what I was doing. I always had a back up plan, but I never used it. But if you didn't plan for it, it is good to know that EM is there. Of course, it will not be as good as your original plan, but it beats running around Kiev with nothing to do. Calling that post stupid is igniting what was already put out. It certainly was not such. There is a saying, 'You can't teach an old dog new tricks.' This week at work I said to someone, 'You can't teach a new dog old tricks.' In reference to being able to perform a function based on tribal knowledge and experience and that everything has become so proceduralized and antiseptic that the news guys just don't have a clue - this is in reference to my work. They are taught to 'cookbook it' instead of actually knowing how things really work or are never given the time to learn from experience. And then, there are some dogs that won't learn any tricks. Whether new tricks or olds tricks, some dogs know nothing more than eat, sleep and hopefully go to the door when they need to 'go'. And some dogs continue to hump legs after being slapped in the head every time they do it. If a back up is not planned, then it is a poor one. Going to the FSU is not a small matter. A back up is good advice. Correction with your self respecting woman. You may or may not give the money. Which woman is self respecting, the one who can't afford shoes for her daughter and will not ask someone who has the money or the one who will give up on the shoes and not ask for it at all? Until the feet are on the ground and reality sets in then it becomes real." Its exacerbated by the the fact that its generally not FSU culture to plan ones life or finances much in advance. I'm convinced that many of the women have never sat down really thought hard about the consequences of what they are doing. Also generally they don't understand the concept of "spare" money, of "investing". It comes from many generations of everyone being in day to day survival mode, and then suddenly being exposed to rampant capitalism image obsession, celebrity culture etc. All these traditionally image/status conscious women with barely a pot to p*** in are now deluged with media ramming the western disposable income life style down tier throats.What they don't see is all the adverts for insurance and mortgages, all the programs about the virtues of investment and retirement planing. nasfan6 Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 12/7/2009 8:27:24 AM   Devil, you are correct, long term planning is not something they are use to. Retirement, 401K, hell a checkbook is foreign to many of them. Life insurance, wills and living trusts it goes on and on. My wife still can't grasp the concept if something would happen to me tomorrow, she has nothing to worry about the rest of her life. When I mentioned to my lady that she (we) should take a loan - just a token loan to establish a credit history - she went bananas! Because she is in the banking and finance industry she explained that anyone who borrows money is totally out of their (fn) mind. The banks rape you with incredible interest rates etc... And when she explained it I thought holy cow! The sanctioned banking industry in Russia is as bad as the mob in america in the thirties. And for however long loan sharking went on/does. It is interesting to note that I am worth a hell of lot more dead than alive. Instant millionaire!!!! But of course, make sure a will will not make you the target of Russian Roulette :) It is also interesting to have a discussion with someone from such a place about planning to pay off a mortgage in three years of what is left on a twenty year note. And discussing being totally debt free in less than five years. Not to mention health care and the ability to visit a doctor/dentist for no reason other than to get your teeth cleaned and looked at or for an annual physical exam. I am learning a lot about "cultural" differences every day. I just had a fight -- not a real one -- that she insisted on still going to the local 'police site' to inquire about registering a tourist visa. Even after she verified the local post office types were aware and able to handle this function. We almost dropped the gloves over this. Sorry if you're not a hockey fan. Back to the point of previous posts... yes, to be totally innocent of 401K, roth IRA (waste of time) many different investment funds, stocks and having extra cash for no reason, it is totally alien to many or most of these ladies. Hopefully you find one that is wise to reality and that living now and also having plans for the future is in their best interest. I am fortunate to have found someone who has been involved in world finance, investment funds and the like. One who has been and still is entrepreneurial. Let's hope not with my money... But it is a grim reality that most of what we take for granted (Americans) is beyond their scope of reason. Of course soon, if we don't fight what is going on, we will soon be the same. Most ladies seem genuine. just disregard the ones with near empty profiles. It also has very good info on culture and background of the ladies. very informative and realistic. have come across 2 scammers that were easily caught out and reported and were promptly removed. golden rule remain to never send money before having met the lady! if you really need to just ask for reasonable evidence before you do. for example, she needs money for passport? tell her to get one and pre pay it by borrowing money from friends / relatives. once she has it she can just send you a scanned copy of the new passport and you can feel much safer to reimburse her. same with visa. once you have these 2 documents you will feel much safer to purchase a ticket for her. I have spoken to several ladies and the genuine ones will tell you that it should not be a problem for them to find the money for a few weeks assuming you do it in steps. I am traveling to Kiev myself soon to meet a lady met through this site :) fingers crossed. Good luck to all!
