baron, to be clear... VJ is a site dedicated to foreigners obtaining a visa to the US. it's sole purpose is to help others by giving knowledge and support. it is not a "relationship" forum. this nut house however is such a place. it is for advice on dating and relationships with russian women - supposedly. so you can bash it all you wish but when I think someone is looking for serious advice about obtaining a visa I direct them to visa journey. I do not claim to be an expert but I will throw out tidbits of information and sometimes that sparks conversation. by exclaiming that this forum is a waste of time etc. you are doing the same exact thing as those who you say are bickering or just spewing nonsense.
now, back to the nonsense...
has anyone ever bought a lottery ticket? ?????? what are the odds of winning? what are the odds of getting audited by the IRS? what are the odds of the guvment coming after you for support? what are the odds that some women from FSU countries are coached on what to do when it comes to getting married and divorced in the USofA? if they are then they will know what the aos means and any rookie public defender will use this to make sure you keep her above the poverty level until the time is up.
baron, you yourself know all about the unlikeliness of some guy who happens to see an ad for russian brides actually being successful. and during their phase of finding out reality many will likely be taken for a few rubles. and the embarrassment of that fact will most likely keep most men silent. so that the scammer thing is way over blown it is a reality that many unsuspecting 'pilgrims' should at least know about.
I apologize to BigD that he didn't get the obvious joke. And that others ran with it.
But I do not in any way apologise for suggesting that he may be too young and should invest more time in this woman. I would give the same advice to a young man living down the street from me who comes back from his first few weeks away at college and professes to have met his soul mate for life and wants to get married by spring break. See any parallels here???
well now the buzzer just went off and hopefully my clothes are dry from the rain last night. bambi is waiting for me. time to go out and sit in the camp cold - all for enjoyment! oh, an aside, wife told me she can't wait to try venison this year. buddy got an elk out west so she will have elk steak soon. good day all.
Unfortunately Ralph you are not correct. VJ is ALSO a relationship forum, especially in the regional forums. Stop by the Russia-Belarus_Ukraine forum and you'll see the discussions.
I think the light bulb suddenly lit up in my head......one "problem" with the forums here is that there is only one forum. Over on VJ, which is heavily moderated, bickering and snippiness are only allowed in one sub-forum and any thread that starts up in the wrong forum is moved by the moderators to that forum. This allows information specific threads to remain in the respective forum and therefore allows for good information flow.
Yes over on VJ, there is visa only sub-forums and relationship discussions are conducted on other sub forums. Asking for sub forums here would be very helpful but I don't think the single moderator, or better said, the only moderator I know of here, has that ability or time.
And your right; I've lowered myself to those that I speak about.
And, I disagree, I never used any forums and learned all about scammers on my own, using Google and the Internet and never spent any money needlessly. It can be done but many guys may not have the same direction.
@LR. You had an attorney and you didn't know where to send your forms to? You didn't think of calling your attorney or USCIS, but you called your congressman when something went wrong? Doing it on your own does take patience like doing your taxes. You must be sure and research what you are doing if you think it's going to come back and bite you in the ass.
Your Irina was not in danger of getting sent back, being married to a US citizen. They have enough illegals to worry about. Sending her back would have caused unnecessary hardship. USCIS come up with rules, but they routinely forgive you. Overstaying a visa, for example and then getting married. The overstaying part is illegal, but they forgive you. If you get sent back as an illegal and then they catch you again, they will not forgive. They will ban you from applying legally for years, even if you find a spouse who is a US citizen or have kids who are US citizens.
I have nothing against using a lawyer, just to have some reinforcement. My father was a disabled American veteran. He had time to read immigration rules. He became a "go to" guy, not just in our family and friends but everywhere. He had no office. People came to the house by word of mouth. Lawyers refused some cases like the guy who "jumped ship" as I described above, but he took them. I did not pay much attention then, but I see that it can be done without a lawyer.
Rb,,, I had been away on a trip to Canada when this took place. Ira and I were married in Sep,,, the fishing trip was most likely in Aug,, but the hunting trip is always the 1st or 2nd week of Oct!! So I don’t think we were married yet!! Also,, I remember who went on the hunting trip with us,,, a cousin and the editor of a local paper. Both married, yet skirt chasers. The editor pulled an;,,,, “Well hello there!!!“ when he first saw her! I was not amused!!
I can’t remember if we did or didn’t try to contact the atty,,, this did happen over 12 years ago, and I spent the best part of a decade trying to forget it!!! I’ve been trying to remember which form it was,,, and the number “585” sounds right??? Who knows??
When you hire an atty,,, you can hire someone local and have a meeting in person. Or you can hire someone who handles cases from across the country,,, and never meet him!! I would prefer to meet the person,,, but how much does a local atty know??
BigD,, i hope things work out for you, "such big steps" i wonder how far you are now into this??
lawyers.
its a bit crap when a system is at a point where you have to lawyer up.
to me 2k US is a ridiculous amount of money for some stiff shirt to proof your form.
sad its reality! true, immigration are poor at explaining what is needed in some of these forms.
specially if this is all new to a person.
only after looking at other rejected forms did i learn what they really wanted and preferred direction" here in NZ
i always wondered why they cannot explain this in simple english terms, but hey that would be to easy yeah"
immagration.
American immigration we found really are ass holes.
overstaying on a US visitors visa we now know here is bad news!
one example my brother overstayed by 12-18 hours in Hawaii, a mistake made by flight ageny here in NZ on some previous visit,, unknown to him.
when he returned on a future visit they grabbed him at passport control.
locked him up in a cell for 5-6 days.
his kiwi cellmate amongst others was there already for 2-3 weeks:) cannot remember their storys possibly deserved it.
our NZ embassy was as useful as the black stuff between your toes, i think NZ has worst embassys in the world, we are happier theres actually none and theres Aussie ones, we have more trust in Aussie embassy's in major dramas, just useless but anyway.
it took about 13-18 phone calls(lost count of such) to american immigration wankers to give us an idea whats going on,, endless transfers.
his traveling companion had told us they had him, thats why we new to phone them, in Hawaii.
cannot remember how many days it was to get confirmation(2nd day sometime i think) of where he was and why, but it was all of those calls to get an idea of whats going on.
fifth or sixth day he was lead to a plane seat in handcuffs.
plane was on hold for take off just for the brother, dick head officer said after taking cuffs off him at his seat with an audience "dont come back":)
as in a lot of our countrys we get these unbelievable backward people and systems in place with real mongrels enjoying themselves.
so my advice its easyer fighting stuff on the right side of the system then crossing over and trying from the other.
Is not a visitor's visa good for 6 months? I don't necessarily agree with the treatment of your brother, but he should know how long he can stay. Visitor's visas to the US are hard to come by, especially third world countries. I don't know how NZ is classified.
I was especially worried when my flight went through Moscow. I did look but decided against getting a transit visa. You are allowed a layover of 24 hours, I believe. I don't remember. What if the flight is delayed or canceled. Would I be in trouble?
