“Because I dispute falsehoods? I have written on this thread only about FACTS, not policy.”
Facts according to whom??
I have already shown you reason for the UN to be biased! We’ve seen plenty of evidence that this current administration fudges the facts too!
I watch the national news as often as I can,,, but sometimes I need to look through google or yahoo news. I also get updates from the NRA and other pro gun sites on fb. I’ll believe the NRA before anything I see on the ultra liberal media news! Does anyone remember Dan Rather????
Famous quotes??? How about this one?
“Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the act of depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest!”
Mahatma Gandhi
Or,
“They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
Benjamin Franklin
Gee durak,,, you’ll need to make up some more insults!!
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said on Sunday: Sometimes government does know best. And in those cases, Americans should just cede their rights.
“I do think there are certain times we should infringe on your freedom,” Mr. Bloomberg said, during an appearance on NBC. He made the statement during discussion of his soda ban — just shot down by the courts — and insistence that his fight to control sugary drink portion sizes in the city would go forth.

“We think the judge was just clearly wrong on this,” he said, on NBC. “Our Department of Health has the legal ability to do this. … [They’re] not banning anything.”
Mr. Bloomberg’s remaining months in office have included a firestorm of regulations and policy pushes on wide range of issues. Aside from the soda size ban and a well-publicized call for tighter gun control, another contentious policy he pushed: Nudging hospitals to lock up baby formula to force mothers to breast-feed newborns.

Just to name a few. The truth that galls you most,,, is the historic American attitude and ability to stand and deliver an opposition of thought, express it in speech and take action, is the ultimate difference in deterring the countless despots waiting their turn. Those that decry it cannot happen in America are correct, at least for now. It is however becoming more difficult to immediately mitigate the carnage of individual attacks on a much smaller scale.
If the rightious are disarmed,,those with evil intent, rise to prominance. Then weak and foolish cry for help,,, but quietly so that their confederates do not turn on them too.
Surely the forstated worde are not understood by the "sheep",,, they follow popular culture regardless of the decade or which flag they carry and what symbol is on it
They are whittling away at our rights a little bit at a time. That’s why I posted the above story about Bloomberg.
I can’t understand why so many people seem to be pushing for Socialism,, which to me is almost the same as Communism.
What the hell were we fighting for in the wars from WW-I to date??? Were we on the wrong side???
The people who want to throw it all away absolutely disgust me. We fight for liberty all over the world,,,, and fools vote it away here at home. Morons! Why don’t they move so we can keep our country,,,, the way it was meant to be??!
( Actor “Ice Tea” just said, doing away with the “Big Gulp” soda is stupid on Late Night TV) Live posting! Lol
The latest attacks on our gun rights, the government takeover of healthcare, amnesty for 11 million “”illegal”” aliens,,, which amounts to 11,000,000. votes for Democrats, is a power grab by our own government!
This to me is a hard subject, In Canada guncontrol bruised and battered our Country. Cost to tax payers was huge. I am trying to think how many years it took to get rid of, was a huge hot patato with polititions Looking to get rid of yes and keep. Gave police better options to violate a persons rights. And in the end what did it do. It forced the sportman and registered gun owner to register and lock up there guns. In Canada we have always been more regulated then States. Peronaly I see little reason for average Joe to need a atomatic weapon. Me I am a sportman I was raised hunting and fishing and has always been a big part of my life. I was taught hunting and fishing by local game warden. He taught me repect for the land and game, and care and control of a firearm. He taught me to speek to anti hunters in hope to make them non hunters. Most people see a cute furry animal. truth progress takes away there habitat, pushes them into smaller areas, where disease and starvation set in killing large amounts of population, Hunting helps havest these animals to keep population in tact. In our country lic money goes back into pot to help with care and control of animal populations. I also own hand guns, here they are very regulated, need special paperwork just to go back and forth to shooting range, quite frankly is a big pain in the ass. I am sure this subject does not have anything to do with Ukraine dating. In my country I have I even ended up fighting in court and won. We have 38 million people in our country give or take. It was nothing but problems for everyone both gun owners and the oposition. I can't imagine what a nightmare will awake in
the States for both sides. And what does it do? It takes the rights away from law abiding citizens. The criminals they never played by the rules anyway. So I highly doubt it will do anything to stop them. It didn't stop crime in Canada, guns in crime were not hunting rifles and shot guns. The mind set of the people doing these crimes was not the mind set of law abiding citizens. I could go on but this subject just causes hard feeling and problems. I ask you both gun owners and non gun owners alike work together is best for your country. Work on the problems of crimes. Not ot the rights and freedoms of your countrymen.
I can gauantee you. The honest law abiding citizen will not win, if you don't.
1. If you can get arrested for hunting or fishing without a license, but not for being in the country illegally,… you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
2. If you have to get your parents permission to go on a field trip or take an aspirin in school, but not to get an abortion,… you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
3. If you have to show identification to board an airplane, cash a check, buy liquor, or check out a library book, but not to vote, … you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
4. If the government wants to ban stable, law-abiding citizens from owning gun magazines with more than ten rounds, but gives 20 F-16 fighter jets to the crazy new leaders in Egypt, you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
5. If, in our largest city, you can buy "two" 16-ounce sodas, but not a 24-ounce soda because 24-ounces of a sugary drink might make you fat,… you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
6. If an 80-year-old woman and 3 yr old child can be stripped searched by the TSA, but a woman in a hijab is only subject to having her neck and head searched,… you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

8. If a seven year old boy can be thrown out of school for saying his teacher is cute, but hosting a sexual exploration or diversity class in grade school is perfectly acceptable, … you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
9. If children are forcibly removed from parents who discipline them with spankings while children of addicts are left in filth and drug infested homes…, you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
10. If hard work and success are met with higher taxes and more government intrusion, while not working is rewarded with EBT cards, WIC checks, Medicaid, subsidized housing, and free cell phones,… you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
11. If you pay your mortgage faithfully, denying yourself the newest big screen TV while your neighbor buys iPhones, TVs and new cars, and the government forgives his debt when he defaults on his mortgage,… you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
12. If being stripped of the ability to defend yourself makes you more safe according to the government,… you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

Batman,, I’m sorry to say that I can’t take credit for it. I copied it from a Republican update on facebook. I get several updates like that per day from a handful of different political sites that are very conservative and or religious. I wish I could find a party that matches my beliefs better,,, but that won’t happen any time soon.
Danny,, thanks for your post!!! I’ve been waiting for the perfect post from you!
WHO WOULD I BLAME IN THOSE SCENARIOS YOU WROTE??????
How about the criminal you stupid idiot??!!!!! That is what’s wrong with people,,,, they can’t see the obvious!! Blame the person responsible!!!!! Don’t blame everything or everyone that’s not responsible!
The United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday signed off on a sweeping, first-of-its-kind treaty to regulate the international arms trade, brushing aside worries from U.S. gun rights advocates that the pact could lead to a national firearms registry and disrupt the American gun market.
The long-debated U.N. Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) requires countries to regulate and control the export of weaponry such as battle tanks, combat vehicles and aircraft and attack helicopters, as well as parts and ammunition for such weapons. It also provides that signatories will not violate arms embargoes, international treaties regarding illicit trafficking, or sell weaponry to a countries for genocide, crimes against humanity or other war crimes.
With the Obama administration supporting the final treaty draft, the General Assembly vote was 154 to 3, with 23 abstentions.
American gun rights activists, though, insist the treaty is riddled with loopholes and is unworkable in part because it includes “small arms and light weapons” in its list of weaponry subject to international regulations. They do not trust U.N. assertions that the pact is meant to regulate only cross-border trade and would have no impact on domestic U.S. laws and markets.
Critics of the treaty were heartened by the U.S. Senate’s resistance to ratifying the document, assuming President Obama sent it to the chamber for ratification. In its budget debate late last month, the Senate approved a nonbinding amendment opposing the treaty offered by Sen. James M. Inhofe, Oklahoma Republican, with eight Democrats joining all 45 Republicans backing the amendment.
“The Senate has already gone on record in stating that an Arms Trade Treaty has no hope, especially if it does not specifically protect the individual right to bear arms and American sovereignty,” Sen. Thad Cochran, a Mississippi Republican who backed Mr. Inhofe’s motion, said in a statement. “It would be pointless for the president to sign such a treaty and expect the Senate to go along. We won’t ratify it.”
Despite the Senate vote, numerous groups have pressured President Obama to support the treaty, and Amnesty International hailed Tuesday’s vote.
“The voices of reason triumphed over skeptics, treaty opponents and dealers in death to establish a revolutionary treaty that constitutes a major step toward keeping assault rifles, rocket-propelled grenades and other weapons out of the hands of despots and warlords who use them to kill and maim civilians, recruit child soldiers and commit other serious abuses,” said Frank Jannuzi, deputy executive director of Amnesty International USA.
The American Bar Association also released a white paper arguing that the treaty would not affect Second Amendment rights.
General Assembly President Vuk Jeremic said Tuesday that the lack of a regulatory framework on the import and transfer of conventional arms “has made a daunting contribution to ongoing conflict, regional instabilities, displacement of peoples, terrorism and transnational organized crime.”
“Whatever the outcome of today’s meeting, for a treaty to be effective, we will need to keep working together to fulfill its goals,” he said.
Under the treaty, countries must also consider whether weapons would be used to violate international humanitarian or human rights laws, facilitate acts of terrorism or organized crime.
Proponents had hoped that the treaty could be ratified by acclamation at a final negotiating conference last week, but Syria, Iran and North Korea objected.
The final vote Tuesday was 154 countries in favor, three against, and 23 abstaining.

“Yeah but here the criminal won't be using a machine gun so possibly your dad or the 10 others standing near him would survive ..... But you gun nutcases don't understand this”
Most criminals don’t use “machine guns” here either. Fully automatic rifles are already illegal here,,, (class 3 firearm license required) but criminals and gang members still find some, proving that criminals don’t obey laws.
Anyone who is determined to do harm to others or themselves will always find a way. Cars, knives, rocks, poison, arson, buses, balconies, etc.
Have you removed buses and balconies from Australia too?????

Instructions: Read the story, and then answer the question that follows it.
STORY:
Two gentlemen, Bert and Ernie, have different ideas about the proper way to open boiled eggs. Bert believes that they must be opened at the blunt end; Ernie is convinced that boiled eggs must be opened at the pointy end. They have argued about this for years; each has stayed firm in his views.
One day, Doug hears Bert and Ernie debating. To prove that his way is the right way, Ernie says, "up is down, black is white, and 2 + 2 = 7. So there, I'M RIGHT!" Doug responds to this by saying, "but Ernie, those things just plain aren't true. When I hear somebody saying wrong things like that, I'm going to speak up." Doug gets out his calculator, and shows the sum of two plus two. When Doug does this, Ernie says, "facts shmacts, I don't trust that calculator: it's imported from a country where they open boiled eggs at the blunt end, so those numbers could be biased!" Doug gets red in the face, and says "Ernie you sonofabitch, you can't just go making stuff up like that. If you insist that 2 + 2 = 7, I insist you prove it!!!"
QUESTION:
From the information in the story, which of the following best fits what we know about Doug's beliefs:
(A) Doug believes that boiled eggs should be opened at the blunt end.
(B) Doug believes that boiled eggs should be opened at the pointy end.
(C) Doug believes that boiled eggs should be opened in the middle.
(D) Doug doesn't care about the boiled egg controversy, he just hates Ernie.
(E) Doug doesn't care about the boiled egg controversy, he just likes Bert.
(F) There is not enough information, to know what Doug believes.
OK. I have my answer. My answer is F. However, that is not a good analogy to our situation. 2+2=7 can be proven easily, and the answer is always the same. We have a situation where the answer is the behavior of man.
Again, I don't care about this one way or another. I don't want to go into great lengths to prove one point or the other. I have seen some evidence and I base my rough conclusions from that. In Australia, I think crime rates can be low living in a vast amount of land.
Doing a search, I did run into conflicting statements whether or not gun control policies worked in Australia. I have also seen reports that that gun control did not work in DC. Thereby lies our problem. What does comparing Australia's crime rate to other countries in the world do? A better data would be comparing Australia's crime rate before and after the gun ban.
