Tim and Del:
looking at your posts and knowing the forthcoming trips you both have planned I almost feel jealous, thinking back about how I felt before I went to meet my lady, the sense of anticipation was tremendous, and I can only add that I sincerely hope everything turns out as well for both of you.
Yes the butterflies are there, because you can never know for sure until you finally get face to face, but would you have it any other way??????.:))
I didn't expect any other answer mate.
Some people say that you can't get to know somebody from writing, and while this forum is not exactly writing letters as we have all done to our prospective partners, you do form a certain opinion about the person behind the words.Being natural, being yourself, but above all being honest will always shine through.
At least I think so.........and not been proved wrong so far!!
ty glad. A fair proportion of my spare time is spent absorbing the language, preparing for our calls in addition to putting my heart into the letters. It won't really be until next month when I get some language courses that I get my head down, so to speak and feel that I'm making progress to venture alone, so far. Butterflies are a funny thing.
YW Del:
I'm sure you'll enjoy the courses, and so will your lady when she hears your quaint english accent shining through as well.:))
Can't beat the butterflies mate......a good omen for the future I hope!
practice the power of flirting eh Del??.....LOL
or just keen to hear a scouse flavoured Ukranian accent??????
Know what you mean about the phone call rates too,but like you I use Telediscount and find the rates superb.
Twiglet Zone is probably more apt Tim,I am usually quite careful about what I write and where I write it too!!!.however that post appeared to be on the right page but when I pressed send lo and behold it appeared here!!!
Strange how the topic of conversation has returned to food again....:))),methinks you could be a frustrated chef mate!!!!!!
It's basically a dictionary where you point and click on the words to get a clear male pronunciation of the translated word. It's nice because where i would make slight mistakes, this helps correct those mistakes.
I've just had delivered The Russian Language Lab (again from ebay)
and ordered one version of PDQ from Linguaphone (@ amazon.co.uk) to arrive any day soon with various verb books, dictionaries etc
Russianservice.com (fiance.com's sister site) has electronic
dictionaries available. It appears the prices range from
about $135 to almost $500.
Things to consider:
Vocabulary: Obviously, the more words, the better.
Specialized vocabulary: Many have special vocabularies
for medical, legal, technical, and business situations.
Sometimes they're built-in, sometimes they're available
via a plug-in chip or software download.
Phrases: Questions like "Where is the metro?" and
"How much does this cost" are built-in
Synthesized Speech: Probably most helpful when used
with the built-in phrases.
Expandability: Can you add words or dictionaries
via a plug-in chip, or software download? Can
you add your own words?
I own a ROMTECH Super CompuDict 3000 - it's kinda old
by today's standards, and to boot, it's actually made
for Russians learning to speak English. But it works.
Google also has a listing of various manufacturers:
