When I have stayed at an apartment, I've reserved the apartment through a booking site such as Booking.com. There are different reasons for me staying at apartments such as doing my own laundry and cooking. I haven't been to Eastern Europe before? I lived 2 years in Moscow. Does that count? Any time an agency is pushing anything (taxi, apartment, restaurants, interpreters) other than introductions to ladies BEWARE. I am not going to stay in some sketchy agency apartment on the outskirts of town. This is usually where they are located.
