Just today, the nominee for new US Secretary of Defense, physicist Ashton Carter, is reported to have told the Senate committee now questioning him (by the US consitution, the Senate must consent to such appointments) that he is in favor of equipping Ukraine with weapons for its defense. The BBC have reported many times throughout how human rights organisations have condemned both sides of the conflict for indiscriminate shelling of civilians. Such behaviour in that part of the world in these circumstances is even highly probable. We shouldn't be blind or unrealistically optimistic just because we would like things to be so. With little effort I immediately found two big organisations who have articles a few days old that explain in extensive detail how both sides are responsible for civilian casualties.
