“Usually girls that go to hotels rooms are hookers!! generally”
Beemer,,,,,, I’ve had girls offer to spend the night with me,,,,,,, but ONLY if I stay in an apartment? That sounds like a whore to me.
The idea that only hookers go to hotel rooms is agency propaganda.
As for cooking,,,, who wants to drag bags of groceries around town? All of the hotels that I stayed at had a fully stocked buffet for breakfast,,,, some were all you could eat. And I can’t believe I’m the only one here that is tired of his own cooking??
If a girl wants to cook for you,,, let her do it at her apartment! Being invited to her home should be part of the process!
And mind you I do stay in apartments from time to time. Mainly to do my laundry (hotels charge outrageous rates) and to do my own cooking.
What LR mentioned about breakfast is true. I just had a substantial breakfast in my hotel restaurant. I probably won't have to eat the rest of the day or late evening...if at all.
As I mentioned before you should not be allowing marriage / dating agencies / sites providing any other services than introductions. No apartment rentals, flower or gift delivery, airport transfers, ANYTHING except introductions as there is a conflict of interest.
Now Tom Shea told us he never would have met his wife if he hadn't rented the apartment offered by the marriage agency. I think that's bogus. The agency would have still made the introduction. They're not going to turn your business down if you don't rent their apartment.
Apartments offered by marriage / dating agencies are usually marked up 3x normal market rates.
"Tom also advocates for staying in overpriced hotels"
They're not over priced! I'm paying 450 UAH / day for a 4* including a fabulous breakfast and wifi. That's <$20/day. How is that over priced? All brand new furniture, queen size bed, orthopedic mattress, 32" lcd tv, complimentary coffee, tea, water. Minibar (paid but cheap). Friendly staff, beautiful restaurant.
I could not get a place like this where I'm from for less than $129/night.
R4G - you're out of touch. I can't believe that you're in Ukraine or you just don't know the prices.
Tom, I have never seen a hotel with a 'fabulous breakfast'(at cheap pricing)!!!
Your description of your current hotel sounds like an ad.......are you saying this verbatim??? Don't tell me EVERY room in hotel is how you described, or are you just 'special'?
Hotels are drabby....you get what you pay for!!!!!
I still think, any girl that goes up to a guy's apartment has been 'up' many times before. Not really what I would think is positive if one looks for in a potential wife.
BTW, Tom, hope all goes well with your longtime gf!!
I sometimes read this forum. You say that I am "wrong" about taxi drivers. You speak of a "code" in Ukraine among taxi drivers. What "code" is that, Tom?? I have been to Russia eight times and Ukraine eight times. I have never seen or heard of any "code of honor" among taxi driver. In fact, the very idea of it is preposterous in such corrupt countries. Has it occurred to you that maybe you are wrong sometimes?
The point is that ukraine charges somewhere around 70% hotel tax. So if they can provide you a room for $40, it ends up costing you around $70. It doesn't take a math wiz to tell you that apartments (no room tax) can provide you a room much cheaper for the same room. With today's exchange rate prices are probably crazy low, I can't speak to that, but if a nice apartment in the middle of the city cost you $200 per week from the woman you are coming to visit and you can get a similar apartment for $185 per week, you would be am idiot to insult the woman who truly believes she is providing a service for you for $2.00 per day. You should just tell her "I don't want your bitch ass help because you are trying to steal from me". Yea I can see why people spend 10 years looking for a ukrainian wife and still fail.
@Scorpio - that's what I experienced at the Odessa airport recently. Once you start talking to one you are considered his customer. Of course that doesn't happen everywhere but I've seen it in a lot of places including Borispol airport.
@Tom Shea - hotel tax (VAT) is 20% in Ukraine with 1% city tax added to your bill
@dcguy - that's why they sell little tiny boxes at most checkout counters in supermarkets in Ukraine. With regards to WifeSeeker he may have just given up. I suspect though that he's still at it. He just doesn't want to share his successes or failures here.
"The point is that ukraine charges somewhere around 70% hotel tax"
Tom Shea I don't know where you get your crazy perceptions from. Perhaps it was the agency you were dealing with that pressured you into renting an apartment.
Good for you that you got a wife that you can love, but your spreading disinfo in here is not going to go unchallenged.
"Hotels are drabby...." Beemer you must have stayed at Soviet era hotels a long time ago.
New hotels are springing up in Ukraine and the FSU with modern furnishings and all the comforts.
Yes, I have stayed at those Soviet era hotels and they have a certain character to them. However given the choice I'd rather stay in a bright new hotel and there are plenty of them to choose from.
Just reading some of your comments some of you guys are so out of touch or you've been abused by unscrupulous agencies. Maybe you haven't been to Ukraine for a long time. I'm here now. I'm boots on the ground. I can tell you things have improved vastly over the last few years. Modern apartment buildings and office towers are springing up. Sports stadiums, restaurants, nightclubs, express trains, mega markets, beautiful women (unchanged). They pretty well have everything here that you can get in the West.
And at roughly 1/4 the cost from my estimations. Come to Ukraine and have a little fun :-)
Wait, tomz, you were the one who said agencies won't rent you apartments. A quick trip advisor look shows hotels in kiev average way over $100 per night. Back before the crisis I got an apartment on international square with its own steam room for $90. It's also funny that you claim there's a 1% city tax. None are different? It's simply not possible but let's pretend. So to save $20 or $30 per week you think it's smart to insult the woman and call her a scammer? No wonder you have 10 years of failure experience to share here.
Whoops tomz. I looked at the dive hotels there. You can get a hotel room on NYC for 50 a night if you want to sleep with rats, but I guess who ever is staying with you is sleeping with a rat anyway. I did just look up apartments in kiev. One on european square with indoor jacuzzi and steam room. $55 per night. Or you could go tomz route and get a dive to save money. I mean he's only been doing this 10 years and had managed to bring home some semi pros, after only 20 years!
To the people here seeking hookers, follow tomz advice. It works even for a fat guy in his 50s. If you ate looking for a wife, he's got no clue.
