You might consider googling the local British consulate to where your boyfriend is located, most/all British embassy/consulate have helpful information on them but there are no short cuts, all visa applications have to go through the consulate(s).
it is called the uk visa bureau, i found in on the internet, i rang them and they said to me, we give them all information and they put it into the form as they know what the consulate wants to see and they send it off and process it for us? the guy said they get 99% pass rate where as if you do it on your own it is alot harder? but it wil cost £515 for them to do it????
would it be easier for myself to fill out the application form from uk or does he have to do it from brazil?
i am very knew to all of this and do not know much so any help would be great of where to start and things, thanx
I'll fill in an application form or two for you for 515 quid :)
It's a rip off, go to the British consulate website and read, if you have any questions the consulate(s) provide their email addresses or next time you might be in Brazil you could pop in and see them, they are very 'OK' people.
They are not going to refuse a visa hust on the paperwork, get hold of yourself a copy of the application form, perhaps it can be downloaded from the consulate website, and familiarise yourself with it and ask the consulate questions as necessary.
hi martin, really i can not believe he told me that if i tried to do it myself then i would never get passed, so it is possible to do t our selves. have you been though this, or how is it you know so much?
i live in uk and my fiance lives in brazil so would he have to go to them and get an application form?
this is all so confusing, are we able to process the application form if he comes to the uk on holiday or does he have to be in brazil to get it?
what sort of thing do they fail people on.
Yes I've been thru it a couple of times, there is only one (two) person(s) that can make the application and that is you and your boyfriend.
There are guys all over this forum that have made visa applications for one country or another and I doubt any of them paid USD1,000 for a form to be filled out!
The important thing is the interview at the consulate that your boyfriend willl need to attend, they need to believe that it is a genuine relationship, that he is relocating to the UK for genuine reasons and that he convinces, promises, that that he will not work illegally.
They'll want to see proof of correspondences between you, proof of travel to see each other, photos etc. etc. etc. The more the merrier.
ok, i have started to look at the application form and doing it online, when we have filled it in does it get sent to the people in brazil or over here?
is it possible to pass the application if doing it our self, any hints you could give that would be great.
the interview will that be in brazil?
yeah i think ill ow you alot more than that by the end of all my questions lol
thanx
hailes,
Everything, the application, the interview etc. will be processed by the local British consulate to where your guy is located, if you can possibly make it down there to attend the interview with him then if they have any doubts then they can cross-question you.
Do not submit the application until you are ready to start the ball rolling. I have passed the application twice doing it myself and so have 99% ish of all other Brits applying for settlement visas, I'd never heard of this £515 nonsense until you mentioned it.
hi martin, is the settlement form the correct one to fill in? is it better to fill in the form on the internet or on papper? when do we have to show pics and things at the interview?
if we fill it in online and then send it, hwo will it get to his local consulate? is there a special type to fill in?
it also says we hav to show we are going to get married how can we do that? as we havnt booked anything yet as we want to make sure he gets his visa first?
thanx
515 quid for a visa - fugg me
it would have to come complete with tart and 10 vouchers to a decent restaurant huh , id want a 10 country visa for that huh
mike00
ps where is it to = putin's palace ?????????
hailes,
Settlement form is correct and which email address doesn't matter, I did the form(s) on paper.
The interview, and full paperwork presentation, will be after the application has been processed and a date arranged. If the interview goes OK then they might issue the visa on the same day.
You cannot PROVE that you are going to get married, you just have to convince them and there should be talk of it in emails etc. between you that you need to present.
The idea of a settlement visa is that the two of you must marry within the 6 months term of the visa, if you don't then he has to leave UK, you just need to demonstrate that it is a genuine relationship.
Tell them, if you like, that you plan on a Gretna Green marriage and if you google for Gretna Green there's lot of stuff that you can download and print just to add to your bundle of paperwork. Where you subsequently choose to marry is irrelevant :)
