All I know Jet is that I get more common sense, intelligence and loyalty in one package that happens to also be drop dead gorgeous than I could ever find in an American/English woman.
Just for fun the other day I went into Yahoo Personals and did a search. All I found were a bunch of women that were in their 40's who wanted a guy to earn a minimum of $150,000 a year. They were older, not as good looking and greedy. Go figure.
Last week I turned on a friend who's family actually came from eastern europe a generation or so ago. He was amazed. He has had the same experience that most of us have. He told me about a recent night in a singles bar where he tried to buy a girl a drink. She told him "what do you want?" and to F off. This is a good man, he is a devout Christian, he has a nice gentle way about himself, he is clean, tidy, well paid and not bad looking. What the hell is the matter with these women?
The other day I received a letter from an American woman I went out with about 3 weeks ago. Then she completely dropped off the radar screen. I was taking Toad's approach. Until Marina has a ring on my finger I am still out there. Anyway apparently her new job didn't work so she contacted me. Can anyone say life raft?? In the words of James Brown "Can I get a witness??"
Only 19 days to go until freeze my ass off day.
Izi,
When you pay close attention to the calculating, deceitful and vicious way american women act when they interact with men in their personal lives, one can only reach this conclusion:
WOMEN ARE AT WAR WITH MEN. Period.
It was a divorce attorney who ressucitated the phrase "To the victor go the spoils"....and today it is one of women's most popular slogans and sought after states of mind.
I met my first Russian lady - when I had an ad up on Yahoo myself (looking for an American woman). That was just about five years ago. Since that time I have ONLY dated Russian women (okay... with the exception of three individual dates with an American woman - hey I was lonely).
There is absolutely NO comparison.
And if (God forbid) something goes wrong in my dream like plan to bring my sweetheart over - if we broke up tomorrow.
I would still never look in America for woman (if you want to call American females - women) but I would look to the FSU.
Hey - Nebrask is just eight days away from my K-1 petition submission day. They have been putting in OVERTIME lately. Of course, now they will probably STOP. And we will wait for a while.
Just 15 days to go Toad, 2 weeks and 1 day. I keep thinking about this brutal flight but it is going to be so much worse for you. I hope you at least manage to get a little sleep on the plane over. What time, locally, is your ordeal going to start? I calculate I'll be on the go for about 32 hours. Maybe longer, depends if I can get any sleep the night before.
I already know I'm screwed. I don't sleep on planes and airports, just won't happen. Fortunately I bounce back from jet lag really fast, I'll be fine on the Sunday. So just kick the dozy Brit in Frankfurt and we will find a bar. I feel I have an obligation to try schnappes in Germany, tequila in Mexico, vodka in Russia you get the idea. :)))
I think that to get through this airport trekking marathons I need to apply the most important lesson I learnt when I lived aboard a sailboat in the Caribbean:
"..I'll be there when I get there.."
In theory I agree with you about the schnapps, Izi....but we're not staying in Germany, just passing through.
So I think I'll be looking for a megadose of caffeine to help me clear out the Nyquil and Cammomille tea induced stupor I'll have from the first leg of the trip.
I leave LAX at 14:40 PST in the afternoon.
I'll be up and moving no later than 04:00 that morning, so hopefully the stress, the long hours awake and the nyquil/tea will help me get some rest on the first plane.
There is no chance in hell I'll be able to sleep on the second plane...might as well be properly caffeneited for it. :))
I don't know how many flights you're taking, but since mine starts in mid afternoon local time, I calculate a little over 19 hours or actual transit time since departure to arrival in E-burg.
Add another 10-12 hours if we think of it in terms of "time spent between earth grounded beds" and a 2-4 hours more in we think of it as of "time spent between earth grounded beds SLEEPING"..:)))
I called three local currency exchange agencies that didn't even know what a ruble is. These damn cholo ladies wanted to sell me Mexican pesos instead...One of them went as far as saying 'respectable' tourists go to Mexico not Russia.
I took a deep breath before I told her I would have considered going south instead of east if mexican women weren't so fat, short legged, hypocritically religious, uneducated and so inclined to reproduce at a frantic rabbit's pace...I think I did some damage their phone somehow, the line went dead pretty quickly after that..:))
Where are you getting your rubles...frankfurt airport?
Frankly I don't think a glass of schnappes is going to make a bit of difference one way or the other. I am going to be killing 7 hours sitting by the daparture gate for Ekaterinburg. That will be for me the equivalent of 12.20am to 7.10am. An all night vigil.
At some point you will turn up.
I won't really sleep I know myself. I have done this kind of thing several times before and it is a routine with me. I just force myself to go for as long as I possibly can then collapse. Works every time. If I am emotionally upset, excited, too tired, nervous, airline food etc my stomach goes into a knot and stays that way until I settle down. I have found that one glass of whisky usually calms it down for hours. I don't like the stuff but I know it works. It is not appropriate in many situations but this one will be ok. I have no idea what schnappes is all about I don't think I have ever tried it.
My day will start at 7am March 4th and it won't stop until the equivalent of about 1 or 2 pm the following day. I never think of traveling in terms of how long I am actually in the air just how long I am on the go until I can get there. My worst one was from Miami to Penang Malaysia twice. Via Japan. I still to this day don't know exactly how many hours I was going. I was so shagged out by the time I got there I was beyond sleep.
As far as the rubles is concerned Marina says don't bother because she will sort that out at the airport. One less thing to worry about.
Now I am starting to familiarize myself with the K1 visa process and forms. It has been a long time since I dealt with these people but I think I can do it. Jet seems to be doing ok. I am watching him closely.
Regarding that malaysian trip(s) all I remember is leaving the house at 6am on a Saturday and arriving on a Monday afternoon. God knows how long I ended up travelling the time zones were so confusing I gave up.
At least the company sported for business class. That made a big difference. I wish I could afford it now. Oh well, doesn't matter. Soon as I see that pretty face and blonde hair it will all be worth it. I hope the little girl is there too, she is 11, it isn't too late for her I think.
13 days left!!
I got to speak to Marina's little girl yesterday. She is a funny thing. I cannot believe I have been this lucky. Fingers crossed that it all for real when I arrive. Too many disapointments with western women to be able to 1000% drop my cynical attitude. I am sure everything will be fantastic.
Izzi,
I heard from Lena that E-burg airport is set up in a manner that keeps local people OUTSIDE the baggage claims building while they wait to meet those who fly in.
I made the mistake of offering Lena to wait for me at the hotel we're staying for the night, instead...Boy, did she let me have it :))
Logical and practical male thinking sometimes must make room for the emotional energy a woman can generate, even if it means she will need to be a hot bathtub for hours to thaw out afterwards.
Which is not altogether a bad thought, after all...;)
If the current weather pattern holds up till the end of next week, our ladies will be waiting for us to show our worn out asses in temps close to -25 C or -12 F. That gesture alone deserves at least a nice bunch of fresh german roses in my book.
We ended up joking that now I know for sure she will be happy to see me (to get out of the cold, at least.)
"E-burg airport is set up in a manner that keeps local people OUTSIDE the baggage claims building while they wait to meet those who fly in"
Surprised? That is always the case with international airports, as a matter of course I'd say, and for very obvious reasons. Keep in mind that after collecting your goodies you'll have to get through customs carrying & wearing your laptop and flowers (roses!!), earrings, necklaces, teddybear, perfume, nosering, belly bangle, several rings and watches etc - oh you'll look lovely man, pls send us a pic!!!
They will wait not outside but inside the entrance hall at worst, probably inside the building proper. No wind or draught, reasonably sheltered but what's more, properly dressed and used to it.
You'll be needing a hot tub, she just might only like it ;-)
Again, also Norway mentions the availability of Roubles in the airport-hall. No Norway, these guys prefer to swap their money elsewhere, to save some measly bucks on the exchange-cost or -rate.
They're normal rates Gents, really they are, but indeed, if you hunt on end in town later, you might find a better offer. Never mind at a less secure place, dimly lit maybe, but your choice. I regard this as a real waste of time, time you do not have too much of I might add.
However flowers you DO buy elsewhere, at your previous stop. On Frankfurt they are not only available (probably not on E'burg), but you'll meet her before you have a chance to buy them, a no-no I'm sure you'll agree.
toad:
gotta agree with Thunder on the currency exchange...the airport give a really crappy rate and if you can wait until you hit the town you will do a lot better. There are literally loads of places that exchange, from shops to small kiosks, just watch out for the official licence that they all MUST display.
