QC - I have too much respect for certain other Brits here in theis forum (namaly glad, trad, and TimH) to astart taking one for one (or even two for one) potshots in retaliation just to show what a prejudice idiot you are. This is not the Revolutionary War fought all over again (which we Americans won by the way - because you fought in regimented formation - and wore those nifty easy to spot red-coats!)
Its been said - "Never try to wrestle a pig. You'll only get muddy - but the pig will enjoy it." I have no desire to get muddy.
As for me taking a stand against American bashing in a thread I started to criticise American women - its a little of the "No one picks on my brother but me!" type philosophy. I am American ans as such have the right to criticise my own culture. You certainly have the same right... to criticise YOURS. But when you broaden that and start taking potshos at the entire country - you show yourself to be the underhanded, deceitful and cowardly type of character that you think we depict you as in movies.
Toad. Is that it?! Are you ill? No upper case torrent? No baleful blasting? No 10-point list? You disappoint me. Err.. Martha who?

OMG, you’ll be calling me French AND a terrorist next! ;-)

Like the quote! You are right. Whenever we visited the States, the welcome we got was always superb… especially from the “American Women” ;-)) … and it was a major source of shame to see American navy guys, when visiting British nightclubs, being subjected to alcohol-fuelled violence. The underlying motive, of course, was envy. I saw plenty of battles with other Navies, too… the British lads like to fight!
When I married in the States, I was struck by the openness and generosity of my wife's family and friends and still have good ties. If only the same calibre of people were in here, we could all have polite discussion and group hugs instead of slapstick and simmering resentment.
“blaming all his societies problems on America.” Possibly but I’m not holding you, or anyone else in here, personally responsible, old chap, so no need to get your knickers in a twist. Nobody is perfect, no country is perfect, no system is perfect and pointing it out I can see, is not allowed. Glad you all fought for freedom of speech. Wonderful ideal.
nasfan,
i just caught your thread. i will make a call to that junkyard and see what he says. i am sure if you do a search, and i am sure there are clubs exclusive to your scoot, you can hit paydirt. i will contact you if i get lucky.
Hey people, the universal motivator is “What’s in it for me”. American women are a product of this marketing. Not all divorces are like the Arkansas divorce but the women think they should be. My ex decided after 20+ yrs that she needed to “be all she could be”. Times are changing and we need to realize that! The difference in the women is fundamental. In the FSU, women have stronger ties to their families than here in the U.S. When people’s values are on the (family) right things, there is room to grow but when their values are dictated, buy a liberal boob tube things change. Too many times, we mix up basic morals with constantly changing politically correct ideology. I am not talking about making anyone a slave to male chauvinism but right is right and wrong is wrong. In the U.S., women look at life as if it was a tree on which we men were the fruit. The women reach out and pick one of us then squeeze until the fruit is dry, cast the husk and reach to pick another of us. This behavior is motivated by the “what’s in it for me” ideal from the media. This behavior started in the 60’s and 70’s with the soap operas on TV. The women started to drift into this liberal fantasy.

I am a member of Venturers.org and they have a site that sells bikes, etc. The plastics are hard to come by and Yamaha quit producing the Fairings last year.
If you are looking for group hugs join a self esteem group. As for polite conversations, if you initiate that you will get it in return.
As for your envy comment, I'm an ex navy guy and you have nothing that I envy.
Shame we don't have the missing 45+ billion the UN and the French smuggled to Sadam and their private businesses to help the Sunami victoms. Maybe then the US would not be in such trouble for being so stingy with relief aid. (oh I forgot we are the #1 provider of aid in the world.
