In the FSU there are the RICH and there are the POOR with a clear distinction between the two. The ability to own a car, an SUV or a VAN, especially a new one is a universally accepted indication of which of these two groups the person falls into. Since credit is virtually nonexistant - you must pay CASH for your vehicle. So obviously those who live in this economy who can plunk down enough for a new Mercedes or BMW are perceived as doing pretty well.
(If a guy does find family members or someone willing to help him out and he is able to buy a car WITHOUT having a great income - you can bet he will spend practically every waking moment hustling fares as "private taxi" on whatever street corner he can find.)
So QC drives his brand spanking new van through the area. Instantly - regardless of his inherent cheap nature he is perceived as being in that small percentage of THE RICH. And he speaks English - and is a foreigner (a rich foreigner) which certainly offers a promise.
So Old Codger QC - reeking of affluence and promise - drives van through Europe's most disadvantaged coutries trying to score as much as possible while offering as little as possible.
There is one big black Hummer (Humvee) in all of Chisinau (as of last year anyway). With such a large and expensive vehicle - every woman there turned her head when it drove by. A point that no doubt makes QC salivate as he states at his computer screen right now, and calls his dealer to see what kind of trade in he could get on that van.
If you are simply out to see new areas, QC and you think it is your personality and masculinity that gets you noticed (when its really simply your automotive vehicle) try driving through France, or Germany and see how many honeys you can lure into your van.
And you have the gall to criticise US - for out methods or purpose? QC - you are a cheap exploiter who offers the suggestion of wealth by nature of your belongings (IE YOUR VAN)and the hope of an exit (by the fact that you are a foreigner) - you nothing more.

TD,
I do regularly write, follow, change, break, disobey and deny my own rules.
I do enjoy learning (so I can wrte, follow and break even more rules as time goes by)
I am a lucky bugger and a fortunate human being....but so is MY Lena.
In fact I will arrogantly, but realistically presume to declare she is more fortunate than I am simply.
Chronologically speaking the mega lifestyle upgrade she will enjoy under my roof will last her a few decades longer than the pleasure of her company will provide for me.
Whatever happiness and success we manage to create together as well as the wisdom we develop from solving life obstacles will benefit us equally.
Mirror Mirror on the wall who's the greatest of them all.
Mirror starts to say something you dont want to hear
and then he reminds the mirror it also can be broke into Shards
and be replaced :) OKAY OKAY YOU TOAD :)LOL
Oh Jet. You seem a little tense. Everything all right at home? Try a dab of lavender on your temples, old son.
Since this is a forum about FSU ladies, it would have been err.. arrogant? of me to mention Heidi from Heidelberg and Danielle from the Dordogne.. but dammit, you've gone and forced me to defend myself. And there I was concentrating on breaking into my piggy bank. Bless them, they enjoyed their little 'bit of rough' so much they clubbed together to buy me a tank of gas.
A little tip when you're next in the Hummer. I find the van gets less cluttered with used condoms if I go for knee-tremblers behind the pawn shop. For you, it's probably the jewellers. ;-))
For someone with your qualification, you really are as thick as a whale omelette. Do you think I honestly believe half the crap I write? You're probably a good guy with a great woman and the risk you take is yours and yours alone. It's the same for all of us. Pop a Vallium and try to be a little less shrill and resentful. It will stop you continually cocking up your posts.
Hi my name is Matt Foley and I live in a van down by the lake
I am kind of fat I am 3 inchs and built like a tuna can(A Sams club )
It's all about Girth:)
Girls used to call me Mike Hunt and the last time I was seen I was in a parking lot. So now when girls search for me they yell out has anyone seen Mike Hunt in the parking lot. ( come on now everyone say it 3 times out loud
and then smile) I swear you'll get it. has anyone seen Mike Hunt in the parking lot.
Moral of this story LOL not sure :)
1. Bored and half blind.
2. Making forum fun and to break up a little bickering.
3. Both of the above.
Or maybe I am 12 sandwichs short of a picnic :)
laugh is on me.
Jet, yes it will be "real" for you soon, and you did it all without a lawyer and spending so little money at all. You should be proud of your achievement and you deserve recognition for it.
But seriously, I wish you both well and I hope everything works out for your relationship.
Took a while to find this. QC, your intelligence and sharp writing is an asset to the forum. Best wishes for your travels. Long live liberalism and traveling!
The only thing about Toad's deal with his lady is that it sounds like a commercial transaction with all the legalities that would make it qualify as such. I have not sensed at any point in this or any other thread that there is emotional connection. I have been reminded of the interviews of my early years when I was sitting across from two people who were firing questions and were trying to trick me into giving the wrong answer so my name could be crossed from the list. The process sounds like a recruiter's search for the job of the wife of Toad of California. I don't care about the age except for the fact that a 50-year old will be 72 when his kid graduates from college. I guess age difference is not important as long as life expectancy exceeds the average. Viagra has bridged all other age gaps these days:)
Good point WT.
Some of these pros and cons have been brought into play in my own search and it doesn't make it any easier.
On the one hand I respect Toads logical approach and it has great merit.
On the other I myself am an emotional man. I listen to my intuition and senses. I look to not only improve the future of my future wife and child but to also improve mine. I mean that in all senses. Let me explain. Only today I was contacted by a woman who is 17 years my junior, with a 12 year old boy, whose English is much better than she believes, has the same religious beliefs as myself, is the right height/weight etc. She lives in a remote region of Russia close to Japan that I find fascinating. However I can't continue with her. The reason is she is an artist. It is quite simply that.
I am afraid that is not practical for me. I already had an artist for a wife. She mucked up the house because of her art and couldn't earn. Her view of life was very esoteric and she left the practical stuff to me.
I have a second chance here. It isn't too late. I want it all. I want a wife that can be feminine, look after a house (with my assistance), cook, is willing to adopt a little boy or already has a child and has some kind of skill that will translate to the west and allow her to make a good living after a year. Is it cold and calculating yes it is.
That is only one side though. The most driving force is that I want to love her. I want to make her the center of my universe. She will have no doubt that I will love her with all my heart. I also expect the same in return.
The family fortunes will prosper, I will not be an ancient old man when my child is an adult and hopefully we will not be too far apart in age. For some reason that I cannot fathom I constantly attract women to me that are 37. Just right in my opinion.
The problem is finding the balance between the calculating and the heart. In my case the heart always has the edge and it has been my undoing my whole life. It has also been my experience that arranged marriages (and let us face it that is what this is) are very successful. For the very reasons that Toad has outlined.
I too cringe at Toads attitude some time but I see the sense in it and hold my fire so to speak. I am the opposite and I have done no better than him. Who is right and who is wrong? I have no idea.
The process is fun though even if it is very tiring.
Lol. Trav. After attempting and failing to be content with a conventional life, I realised I needed to get out there and try to find out who the hell I am and what on earth I want. Taking on new challenges, new experiences, a host of new impressions and lots of new friends in different countries, has taught me one thing..
You better watch out in the land of "Deliverence" they may be looking at you as fresh meat! You know how they clasify a virgin?
"One that can sit on the curb and cannot touch the street with their feet" or a lost tourest from Florida! It doesn't make them no difference!LOL
I spoke to Roth on the phone for about a half hour, I came away very impressed. He came across as no nonsense, won't blow smoke to impress you. He seems to be a little more reasonable on his fee stucture.
I used Roth and was satisfied. They're professional and know what they're doing. The process is not rocket science. Mind that you talked to Roth once, he's not showing up again. After you pay the fees, you'll be speaking to his assistant who is also a lawyer or for easy questions to the secreataries who all sound they're from FSU. Access to the assistant lawyer himself was a bit of a problem. Generally though was satisfied.
QC, your doing the right thing. Twice in my travels met American couples my age (mid-thirtiesh) had left jobs and sold businesses to take a year off and travel the world. Of course Europeans travel a lot more and for longer periods. Most Americans are either afraid to travel or are consumed with consuming or chasing the "American dream", which is nothing else than the idea that they or their children will become rich (whatever this means). This very idea of working to consume more is what sustains the economic system in the U.S.A. It is meaningless to live to work, I'd rather only work to live and be happy.
I don't live to work and what sustains the economic system is investment not consumption. Investment leads to supply and supply brings demand, not vice versa. If it wasn't for the fact the health insurance for the self employed is expensive I would be self employed, but until I have my businesses to the level to afford this luxury I stay where I am at. The american dream is not consumption, but the freedom to do what you like when you like, rich is a relative term. Is rich the guy making $60,000 a year and capable to do what he wants when he wants, or is rich the guy that makes $150,000 a year and is leveraged up the ass in debt because he wants to impress his neighbors and has become a slave to his job? I'm the $60,000 guy, and if my job leaves me tomorrow my world isn't going to come crashing down. To me that's the american dream, the freedom and independence and not being dependent on an employer for survival. As for traveling, I've done my share of traveling the world. Now It's Ukraine and then I'm going to spend some time seeing things in America I haven'the chance to do. Americans aren't afraid to travel. And travelling Europe does not make one worldly or cultured.
