Thanks for your thoughts. My city was lucky and the hurricane moved away from us. I visited Izi and his town had many areas without electricity and TV and internet cable. We took a trip down into the Florida Keys and saw a lot of water over roads and several trees blown over, but generally no other problems. The people near New Orleans are the ones that have suffered extreme devastation.
Everything is fine. Got the internet and telly back again. Sorry for all those people in N.O. There are going to be a lot of bodies. 100 dead in Gulfport Missisippi already. Still counting. God knows how many in N.O.
Howcome Dale Jarret didn't loose some points after driving like he did in the Sharpie 500?? Others loose 25 points for saying sh!t during an interview, and he keep his score after hitting someone on purpose.. Just a 2 lap stop penalty... unfair! He should have been disqualified if you ask me.. And I thought he was such a nice guy..
Nor, Look at the number in my name and you will know my favorite driver. As for Jarrett, he's one of the sacred cows and it pissed me off a bit, I think they need to change the name from UPS to the PMS car. If Harvick would have done that, and he's the one that really got screwed by Jarrett and Newmans bone headed moves, Nascar would have had him in the trailer after the race, threatening to kick him out of nascar and Childress would have writing a check to them for about $50,000. Actually DJ is a better driver than that, but that's Bristol and emotions ride high, for a short track it's the most difficult track to drive.
I miss the older days, when my Favorite driver in the 80's was Tim Richmond, if they would have interviewed him after the race and asked him about Jarrett, all Tim would have said was the fuckers got to race next sunday. Nascar is shooting themselves in the foot with the squeaky clean, 45 minute driver diatribe about sponsors and little other substance in an interview. It's an emotional sport, and I remember what one great driver said, you can be on the pole on Sunday and in a hole on Monday.
Lets face it, you can try to make Nascar a corporate entity, but you have to remember the sport was started by a bunch of moonshine runners who competed against each other for fun to see who had the best hot rod to outrun the revenuers.
I will say this, I was never a Dale Earnhardt #3 fan, but I respected him, he had balls, I know he needed a wheelbarrow to carry them in.Like him or hate him when he came to race he came to win, second place was first loser, and as far as I am concerned he was the greatest driver in the sport and he wasn't afraid to use a fender or whatever it took to win. He never bitched when he got crashed, he just go even. Now the sport is becoming filled with spoiled crybabies, and when someone gets pissed they want them to go to anger management courses. How enlightened a bunch of booze runners have become. I could see Bill France Telling Jr. Johnson he had to go to anger management, Jr. would have told him what end of the fuel hose he could suck on and pack his car on the trailer and went home. The men that made this sport great, took food off their families tables, slept in the front seat of their pickups, raced and wrecked the family car and lost their lives in pursuit of a dream. The late 40's to the mid 80's was Nascars heyday, and the boys now are reaping the rewards for all this work and forgetting where they came from in history.
Sad but true Neon, unless we start getting some colorful characters back in the sport. Not these walking, talking billboards. Just like my guy, I never understood advertising a prescription drug?WTF? It's not like you can walk in the store and say, hey I want a pack of Marlboros, twelve pack of bud, and oh by the way give me a six of Viagra. The other Irony was getting rid of Winston as the sponsor, Now what next, no Bud Shootout? Politcal correctness in a sport that was started with moonshine running as it's backdrop. Hell President Reagan Pardoned Junior Johnson, now thats a Nascar fan!!!!!!!!
After Talking with Larissa today on the phone, and she knows I enjoy the Georgian music I heard in Yalta, she asked me since my heritage is Irish to send her some Traditional Irish music, I hope she enjoys Rory Gallagher and Van Morrison.
I learned that one also that Nas was A Martin Fan. I thought it was Earn heart also. A friend of mine said Tony Stewart is way better Nas.
Hey Hey just telling you what he said :)
Football for me. Fantasy Football is the best.
Nas is there Fanstasy Racing? I have no clue.
Just seems there is for everything else, People even play
fantasy golf, now thats sick. Hell they might even play
Fantasy Tennis.
One I did ten years as a commisioner of a Fantasy football league.
Yes there is Fantasy Racing leagues in every bar in the midwest. I see you don't get out much LOL!
Last time I really watched Golf was Ben Crenshaws Masters win. Not really my cup of tea to watch, I used to play alot when I was married because I couldn't stand my ex wife, shit she was drunk most of the time anyway. Since I was divorced in 1999 I haven't picked up a club. I did get to play St. Andrews on a trip with some friends. It awed me just to be on that course.
As far as Tony Stewart goes, he is a great driver, I remember watching him as a rookie driving for John Menard at Indy. I knew he was something special then. As far as being better than Mark, well that's relative. What I admire in Mark is his determination, he went bankrupt funding his own ride sat out of Nascar a couple of years, then Jack Roush needed a driver with guts and determination. Mark Martin has made Roush racing and is now one of the all time money winners in Nascar. Mark may never win a championship but he will always be a champion to me. Theres more to a driver than wins, it takes guts, determination and on top of that Mark Martin is the class act of Nascar and that means more to me than a Championship. As pure drivers go, I don't think we will ever see another Tim Richmond, he could drive anything it didn't matter. Tim was the kind of guy who could win with a bad race car. Also he was one of those colorful characters that took on the Kingdom of Bill France when they said he was using illegal drugs, when in fact he was using azt to battle aids. They settled out of court and Richmond raced again and raced well, His last year of racing he won 7 of the last 17 events he entered, still a streak that hasn't been touched. He drove hard and lived hard and that is what took his life.
Thats funny Because Last night I asked my Friend and he said shut up
everyone you play poker with belongs to a racing League. he said dont you see all the boards on the walls in the bars, I said no I don't see well
he said you have ears and thats all we talk about when we play poker:)
I said That is why I win most tournaments we play in, because I tune you guys out:))
He told me to tell you that he has lots of respect for Mark and I said
what about AJ Fyoit (spelled wrong) and he said next year I should play Fantasy racing and pick him.
He trying to take advantage of me :) so today I will take all his Poker chips.......
LMFAO!!!!! You'll take A.J. Foyt III, he is still racing, if he is talking about A.J. Foyt Jr., now there was a race car driver.
One ask your buddy this trivia Question, what drivers have won the indy 500 and the Daytona 500? Answer Foyt and Mario Andretti, now if he is a real nascar fan ask him this question, what famous brothers raced Nascar and the Indy 500? The Allisons, Bobby and Donnie.
Ok, I am a bit lost right now.. The only thing we have in Norway is imaginary friends and fantasy women... What the heck is a fantasy race??? Videogame?
I would love to get in that fansty women League :)
I did ask him and he said he believed it was the Allison Brothers
Robby and he Could not remember the other brothers name :) so I said at football draft tonight It's Donny you dip shit:) and everybody was Laughing.
They said yep he's right (LOL) Little did they know I was all prepared to take AJ Foyt and I didnt even know there was more than one.
