The FSU marriage agency business is still young. It really didn't start until 1995 and wasn't somewhat big until the year 2000. This forum wasn't even around until 2002. I know many marriages that are at the 2 year stage and going strong. Besides, think about marriages in our own countries. USA, UK, Aus, NZ, are they doing any better? I think I have as good a chance lasting 5 years with a FSU lady as I would and American one. And the quote you copied is missing the part where I'm talking about young girls I meet on the streets, cafes, and clubs. Marriage agency girls young or older of couse have given thought to living abroad. Mac, I think the favorite scam that these agencies like to use now is the email forwarding. Its easy money. Even in scam agencies there are real girls. Also, Amazing-women may have stole or traded your girls photos and profile. The main test Mac is if your girls are willing to give up personal contact information. Postal address, email, and most important, mobile or home telephone numbers. Wmferg, I agree with you that the agencies now call the girls and have the letters dictated over the phone but it should still be considered a yellow caution flag. Rk, when I used Cindy agency to correspond with two of their ladies I asked for and receieved their mobile telephone numbers. I asked for the personal contact information in my third letter. Keep in mind if your girl does not speak English she will be reluctant to give you her telephone number. I also used Cindy agency for flower delivery. Later I had my interpreter call them to confirm they got the flowers and they did. Later I ended up meeting one of the two girls in Kiev for a week of bliss and romance. Since I have met my fiance there did you expect a different response. All kidding aside. Mariupol is a good town for meeting ladies. Though they will not have the numbers of Kiev or Odessa or some of the larger cities in Ukraine. Mariupol is a town of 500,000 people, which Larissa classifys as a small town. It is a blue collar steel town, somewhat depressing and that is why many of the girls will want to meet you in Kiev first or another site. Actually I enjoyed my visits to Mariupol. Now the real story, the girls there are serious about meeting a man, though they are a little more pragmatic about it. I highly doubt if you will get a letter from one wanting to meet very quickly. Larissa has three friends, two who already live in the States and one that is coming over in the near future. One lives in Florida and the other will live in North Carolina. One came back after a difficult relationship with a man here and she was in Colorado. The ladies are extremely beautiful in Mariupol, and very healthly. Larissa says the women take care of their health better in Mariupol because of the poor air quality from the Factories. Larissa's past agency had a listing of three hundred girls and they are all real, but it is pretty expensive, when I talked to them as to why, they said they wanted to weed out men that just wanted to be professional daters. Now I have another opinion but I wrote that in another thread. Many of the girls in her agency are listed her in fiance.com and I know two of them and have met them. The part I like about it is the girls are real and if they like you and you hit it off, they are real and decent women. Though the area has a criminal element, I never had any problem there. So any information you may want about Mariupol please ask, if I don't have the answer, I know I can get it from Larissa very quickly for you. To be honest, yes Mariupol deserves a look for guys looking for a honest and sincere relationship. There are a few night clubs, but not really much to do in Mariupol, though Donetsk isn't that far away and this Summer Larissa and I stayed in Yalta, which I would also recommend. Crimea is Larissa's favorite place to stay and I fell in love with the place, so much I have changed some of my investment strategy to think about potentially retiring there. That is still a way off. To find real girls, Mariupol deserves a serious look for women from Ukraine, most are ready to move to another country. Larissa's sister is Married to a guy who lives in Switzerland. Yak is correct about most of the hot girls on Anastasia Web are from Mariupol. Not sure why. I had a good friend spend some time in Mariupol and it was described the same way. The one problem he found was when he started dating the girls they would end up knowing each other. Being a small town the girls knew each other so when he dated more than one the word got around and many refused to date him because he had dated one of their friends. I have been to the big three of Ukraine. Kiev, Kharkov, and Odessa but my next trip will be to involve a side trip to Nikolaev which is also a small town. Mariupol isn't really all that bad of a town. Yeah it has the old Soviet Style barracks apartments and it could use a facelift. Though you can see some progress there. They opened a new supermarket there and it's comparable to many here in the states. The thing I really did notice is the trendy clothing was a hell of a lot more expensive than here in the US. Especially shoes and boots. When I showed Larisa the prices in Victoria's secrets she couldn't believe how inexpensive it was comparable to the prices in Ukraine. So, instead of spending $6 to send a letter and $6 to read a reply I decided to renew my VIP membership with Fiance and correspond with her through them. During my correspondence through Amazing-women the reply range was anywhere from 24 hours to 3 days max. Well, I sent my girl a letter via Fiance about 8 days ago and still no reply. Hmmmmm what a surprise. This brings into my mind the compensation thing that Buffed was talking about. Apparently the compensation from Fiance.com to the affiliate agency is not enought to warrant a reply from my girl. Perhaps this affiliate is hoping I will get frustrated and reopen my account with them and start spending $6 a letter again. That I promise you won't happen. My experiment is finished investing any money. The bottome line guys is email correspondence is a waste of time and money. This unlimited correspondence that Fiance.com offers is about the only exception but even that has problems as Buffed has pointed out in his thread. The best thing to do is do what I do. I'm going to find these local agencies and just show up at there door with a folder full of printed out profiles and pay for the introduction dates. Guys just pick a city and concentrate all your fire on it. Print the profiles and set up the trip and just go there. Thanks to all of you who have volunteered your experiences and time in this forum. The information is invaluable! I have been to Russia 7 times, my ex-wife is from Novosibirsk and I am in the process of writing a book about all of my experiences. I have been divorced for about 7 months now and am crawaling out of my black hole ready to go back for more punishment <joke>. I want to post some of my experiences and opinions with the hopes that some will benefit and I will learn more myself. First, let me talk about divorce rate. Everyone knows that the divorce rate in America is 50%. I was told by very reliable sources that the divorce rate for international marriages is 70%!!! Including myself, I know 7 American-Russian couples, 4 of them are divorced (57% divorce rate). Of the three that are married, one had been happily married for 5 years and now have kids, one has been married 3 years (I was the best man at their wedding) and is still happy and the other has been married 2 years and is still happy. The three that are still married seem like a good fit for each other and the other four (including mine) was not a good fit. Of course to obtain the most precise statistical data you would have to look at thousands of marriages to get a +/- 5% acccuracy rate. I am NOT saying it is not a good idea to marry a woman from another country, because I am going back to do just the same again, I just want everyone to know what they are getting themselves into. I am with Deano, high risk = high reward. Now I also have to deal with the fact that second marriages have a divorce rate of about 70% also. Yes the odds are stacked against me but knowing that I can do everything in my power to prevent that because divorce is HELL! The reason I am going back to do it again is because I fell in love with the country, the people and the novelty of being married to a Russian woman. When I say "novelty" I mean that the relationship is unique, special and always interesting is so many ways it will take me a book to explain it all. The first four years of marriage was a honeymoon. No kidding!!! We were as close as two hands superglued together. Aside from her and my character flaws, it came down to the fact that she does not have the emotional capacity and depth character to make it through tough times. Had she lived in America we probably would have not made it to our wedding because we would have spent much more time together getting to know each other and I know she would have flaked out before the wedding. Yet, still I am going back again knowing that I have to find a solution to the problem of not being able to spend a considerable amount of time together (like most other normal people) before getting married. I am not sure if anything can replace that but I am going to roll the dice one more time. However, I have found a few women who ARE real. I have talked with them and corresponded with them through regular internet email thereby avoiding going through the service. I have paid to read maybe a dozen letters where the lady emailed me first. Most of them I could tell were form letters but a couple of them appeared to be letters personally written by the ladies that commented on particular things in my profile. I have found it best to NOT respond to anyone woman who writes you first but to write them a very detailed letter asking a lot of questions and if the reply is short then I just delete them. I am currently corresponding with one from St. Petersburg that I am very interested in and will probably visit in March over Woman's Day. We have spent hours talking on the phone so this is also a very good indication that she is real. She provided her home and cell phone but speaks 70% English so she still needs to go through a translator. Out of frustration over how Anastasia works guys for money I looked around, found and joined Fiance.com. I wanted to expand my possibilities and look forward to seeing what this site can bring. The site I originally joined in 1999 was Faces of Siberia which was featured on the Fox Files. The owner lives in San Antonio (I live in Austin) and I have gotten to know him personally over the years. Initially they charged $500 with unlimited emails and translation at no charge and the owner PERSONALLY went to Novosibirsk (Siberia) and several other cities/countries to interview and film the women. It was really a slick set up and even though the web site is still up and running he no longer adds new women and the site will probably go down at any time. The one girl Kseniya from Odessa has not responded to two of my letters forwarded from this site. Funny when I was using Amazing-women at $6 to send and $6 to read I was getting a reply in two days. Fiance.com and Amazing-women both use the same local agency in Odessa called Olvia. Amazing-women is a black listed agency and therefore it would indicate that Olvia could also be a scam agency. From my experience listed on this thread it is my opinion that Olvia is a scammer agency or the ladies I happen to be dealing with are scammer girls. This just goes to show us that even when the agency is legit and honest such as Fiance.com the small local agencies that make up these big network agencies can pollute them with scams. Also, Using Fiance.com I have been corresponding with a girl from Simferopol. Nice letters and many photos. A hot girl! But she ignored some of the important content of my letters such as ' I have traveled to many cities in Ukraine and speak some Russian' and I thought that was very unusual. She is anxious to meet me in the spring. So, in my next letter I asked for her mobile phone and home phone number. She replied that she is excited that I will come to Ukraine and she can help me with an apartment. But she also said she does not have a mobile phone or a home phone and that we can arrange everything with letters. Does this make her a scammer? In my book it does. She shows all the signs of a scammer girl or professional dater. Needless to say that will be my last letter to her. Sorry dear. I had a previous bad experience with an agency that was using email forwarding actually something both Deano and I have in common but that is a long story. The women respond to real mans attitude, meaning, not mean, just firm and poised with kindness and attentiveness, meaning clever means sharp wits, attentive means good at business, a family means a realtionship based on love now and the future. Sure don't drink period, wear what they wear, befriend an interpreter, really it's easy, be harsh with money then overly generous creating an I like you for you attitude that is won over by money, as it is almost a third world country, as you guys say survival breeds this, also I reccommend stay away from Odessa, it's a scam the whole place, by the time you work out who is real you waste the trip !. I know had all the experiences, scammed, phantoms, back pack stolen, traine black mailed, bus broken down no able to get back on unless paid, it's just the name of the game there. As for letters, they are good for a few, after 3 I request email only, funny 7 out of 10 I never hear from again !, the, I don't have a computor is real, but access to it is easy and at very low cost. Anyway if anyone is interested in more details, ask. The most important thing is backgrond checks, I have 3 contacts that can do this, my former fiance was having 2 other men while I was pining for her, now I have 3 that are begging me to mary them, it's a matter of experience, understanding them then being true as you are, games don't work there, straight talk does. The women are so sweet but very sharp and intelligent, they may act differrent but they are, their eyes give it away, but their hearts, mostly just want respectful love and there it is another type, the west has the softness they crave, then they will give you thier life.
