Danny, I did not post here to show my expertise in sending things to Ukraine. It took me 8 weeks to send the little girl chocolates. I still don't know how to send anything without it being opened and stolen. That would hardly be an expert.
I was frustrated and wanted to see if anyone had similar circumstances that I could share information with.
I sent my girlfriend an iPad 2 3G 64 GB to Kiev without a problem. It took 2 weeks to get there with the package un touched. I also declared what was in the parcel and nobody touched it or stole. After I sent the parcel I started reading all of the stuff on this forum and got really worried but there were no problems at all. Bottom line is if you want to send a nice gift, than just send it especially if it's to Kiev. You can also always add insurance which is cheap and if something happens it will be covered. Just save the original receipt to the item.
Insurance maybe the key. I sent about 20 packages in the last three years. About half of them have been opened. Two got stolen. They stole the first box of chocolates. They must have wanted the second box, because they took one of the ten chocolates. But, it had insurance. Priority mail comes with insurance.
Rasputin, I told you why I thought you were Ralph in disguise. I gave you a simple test on the other thread. If you are who you said you were, it would have been easy to answer. You did not answer. You have no purpose here other than to toot Ralph's horn and now to continue his campaign against me. Tell us again why you are not Ralph.
Danny, if the gf you are referring to is the one from the magazine article, the last package I sent to her was the one with DVD's that got stolen about a year ago. She has not asked for nor have I replaced them. I told you who the chocolates were for and it was not for the gf you were referring to. I am certain that this gf has not tasted nor even seen the chocolates.
This is precisely why I don't want to talk about this gf or any other gf here. She is assumed to be lying. Pawn chocolates?
I did not write on this thread to talk about a gf. It was to discuss the ins and outs of sending a package. The package was not for the gf in question or any other gf. No "gf" has seen nor tasted the chocolates.
Hello-just found this site and have been reading all the comments.
Last Dec. I shipped a package to Odessa via UPS to a lady for Christmas. Everything was returned to me after reaching Kiev and "rejected" by Ukraine customs.
In the pkg. was herbal tea and a bracelet. I was later told by UPS international that food items and jewelry are not permitted to be shipped to the Ukraine. I was also advised not to reship as next time the items could be confiscated. I have checked several websites since then and found that yes, these items are not permitted to be shipped to individuals in the Ukraine. (Although, ironically, it is ok to ship a gun !)
I notice that several people on this forum have shipped food items(chocolates) How? Whats your secret ?
