The part that bothers me is the hypocricy. To condemn the journey for and FSU bride as a waste of time then sell the merits of another place. Making a comment that only 1 percent succeed. I've been to Thailand a few times. To compare airports is a little silly. I wouldn't give you a plug nickle for southeast asia. I have been there plenty of times. More graft and corruption there than in Ukraine. So the one percent who succeed is probably by far better than southeast asia. I don't need to switch to decaf. My life is balanced. I didn't search for a woman with a check list. Or spend time telling her she had to jump in the work force to help pay my bills. I didn't search for a woman with income in mind. Plus if you found a real decent woman she wasn't going to be a spendthrift. The real ones have struggled most of their lives and understand the value of money and the lack of having such. I also wouldn't place demands on her that I won't place on myself. That's the part of finding a real decent woman. I didn't use the head in my pants to think with, nor did I let a pretty face steal my common sense. I didn't have the savior mentality when I searched. I've heard many guys use the comment,that where you live now is far better than where you were. What nonsense. If you wasted your time going to visit mental cases and big spenders then you didn't do your research very well before going, and that's not the womans fault. That's your fault. I'm not of the ilk that thinks you should get your ass on a plane the first time she asks. If during my correspondence, a woman subscribed to something that I didn't agree with, well I wasn't going to continue the communication, hell let alone get on a plane and waste time and money for something that wasn't going anywhere. As for saying you don't have a privilege of seeing things right or wrong or black or white. Why don't you? It's not a divine gift. No I'm not going to be PC for anyone. I call it as I see it. That's what individuality is all about. I'm not going to be a sell out, so I don't offend others, or just to make the environment more comfortable. You make the same assumptions about the women from the FSU. Whacked out impressions for newcomers? What the hell is that? That's being judgmental my dear Izi, the thing you're chastising me for. If you're going to count pennies in search of a lady from the FSU, you'd better stop your search before you even become a member at a place like Fiance.com. When you start putting a bottom line on what it's worth, then it's worth absolutely nothing. You don't need spreadsheets to find a good woman. On the flipside, what are you willing to give, to find a wonderful, decent woman? What dollar amount can you put on that? What effort is that worth in your life? I was tired of putting my effort in for ungrateful women here. Maybe my judgment was bad with American women, and no doubt it was. When a guy spouts off that a middle class guy can't make it with woman from the FSU, it makes me laugh. First and foremost why does money have to enter in the equation? Larysa hasn't had to work since she's been here. Now she wants to. Not for paying bills, but because she wants a little more in her life. She's been busying working on our home. I've made adjustments in my life to compensate for her not working. Like going back to a demanding job for greater income. Establishing a second business. Was it worth it. You bet your ass it was. I work a long day, then I come home and work on our house. Why because she is worth every damn bit of my effort, because she gives back to me far more than I can ever give back to her. If that is bending on my knee, so be it. You guys want the old time traditional relationship, well that's where the guy was the bread winner and took care of his family, not putting the woman’s ability to contribute to the family income as part of the scenario. You want the traditional servant, also you want her to step up and make your life more comfortable with her income. I've never needed a woman for income. Nor do I even consider her for it. Comfort leads to complacency. You live within your means, or you work to improve it. Not relying on the woman to improve it. Isn't that what being a man is about? Guys want women of "traditional values" but don't want to accept the responsibility of their part of the traditional family. They want the traditional slave not a traditional woman. I've never had the pleasure until now, that I was the main focus of any woman’s life. It's humbling and also awesome in the same time. The nuclear family created the divisions in the American family. It took 45 years to achieve what I grew up with my parents. Where their love and support for each other was the omnipotent thing in their lives. I have this now with the little lady from Ukraine. So if I am part of the one percent, well it surely was worth every minute of my time. Hell when you complain about the immigration part of it, that was the easiest part of it all. From the K1 to her green card. Simple. The rest takes work. So if you're not willing to accept your mantle of responsibility, then searching for a woman in the FSU shouldn't be in your plans. So if you call it anger, when I refute silly claims of the Merits of another country, which with Ukraine I have been to 42 now, Yep I'm the most pissed off guy in this forum. I don't spend my time in other forums, like your Thai forum telling them what a scam and rip off Thai women are. If I would have failed with a Thai woman, then I would have to do a self assessment of where I failed? Gee maybe it was me and my unreal expectations. Now how that stretch of water was defended or fought over was not the point I was making, whether it have been the British, US, Australians, Canadians, Polish or whatever that either defended it or fought over it but the fact remains, and you are not going to persuade me otherwise, that had that stretch of water not been there then the story, the history, would have been a whole lot different. The only frustration about my trip was language. I do not have the desire or patience to build a relationship with someone I could not not talk to. I like the small talk and chatter. To sit over a meal and say nothing sounds absurd to me. With my girl, I sometimes found it very frustrating when the conversation would get bogged down trying to explain something. I would constantly have to remind myself that I am the silly one not knowing russian. My girl told me she taught russian in her spare time but what she meant is study. Even after trying to explain the difference six times we would be driving past the university and she would say, "that is where I teach". No darling that is where you study. The subtle difference is still lost on her. My only recommendation I have for anyone travelling to russia, is to learn as much russian as possible. aussieman41 Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 4/23/2007 6:21:56 AM   I would like to re-itterate what I said in another thread about the languauge of communication "Love without a common language of communication between you and a foreign woman can not exist unless she can speak and fully understand English or you can speak her native language and understand it" As for fiance visa's from an Australian standpoint ( and this is for Australian applicants wanting to bring a foreign girl here to Australia ), the only appicable visa allowed is the prospective spouse sub-class 300 visa ( equivelant of a US K1 visa or fiance visa ) and when the Australian embassy interviews her, it will be expected that she will understand English as the interview will be conducted in English by the consular officer and not be able to speak English is a big disadvantage and increases the chances of a visa rejection..in any case Australian fiance visas are bloody hard to get for Russian, Ukrainian or CIS country girls as they are all processed from Moscow, our only embassy for the whole of the former Russia. For the girl not to speak and understand English to a vocational level ( she does not have to speak perfect English but enough to get a job in Australia ) is a big disadvantage..if you can only say "Hello" or "Goodbye" as the whole extent of her English language, she will never get a visa to Australia. In February of 2007, the Australian government tightened the requirements to gain citizenship here, with a English written citizenship test on Australian culture and history ( requiring good English reading and comprehension abililty ) that must be passed before a migrant can get citizenship and a focus on skilled migration with migrants being able to speak and understand English before coming here and people with recognised skills and qualifications ( many Russian/Ukrainian qualifications such as University degrees are not recognised ). Any foreign lady who applies for a fiance visa to Australia, will have no hope, if she can't speak and understand reasonable English now ( well enough to be able to work ) and if all she can say is "cat" or "dog", she will not be flying out of Russia or whereever but flying out of the Australian embassy with her file marked "application rejected"! Lets not mince words here..this is the reality of developing relationships with foreign girls. If she can't speak or understand English, she will go nowhere and you will go nowhere with her, guys! I can't imagine anything as stupid and awkward, as using a translator for everything..theres no privacy ( well you going to have the translator in the bedroom with you and her, to translate "take your clothes of and lets have a shag" because she does not understand English..this is an extreme example but it drives home the point..how can love develop in private if you have "person 3, the translator" around all the time..it will not work this way! The most important requisite for developing a relationship with a foreign girl is a common, understandable language and preferably the language of your country..if its English it must be! But we communicated using an electronic ecteo type translator. after 18 months we gradually understood each other through a combination of learning each others language. Really what would you rather have in life, a wonderful companion that loves you for who you are and respects you for your character, or one that doesn't love you but hangs on because you have a couple of bucks? I would rather be poor materially and in love richly than what I've had before. Money and beauty are fleeting commodities. Real true love withstands the hands of time. You're opinion on marriage is your business. I'm not PC, but they're are absolutes in life, and many people want to deny they exist. Marriage is one of the absolutes. What has happened is we have devalued the true existence of marriage and lowered to a contract for separation of property. Not what the true meaning of marriage is. Since now in many western countries, it just guarantees half of one's property, no matter who had it or who worked for it. In the same, it is the reason I vehemently disagree with prenuptial agreements. If your so damned worried about losing your property, then you value material things over lifes true treasures.
