Any guy who takes on this venture and thinks he's going to do it in the bargain aisle is an idiot. So what's the point of posting in the forum about how much money you drop and how much you try to impress others here. If you're looking for appreciation from someone, it's pretty shallow when the pretense is about the money you drop for her and her family. I've always found in life that the appreciation waned when the wallet got thin (or tightened up). So when you rub it in the faces of others here how much money you drop and how you act, it's pretty silly. I've understood every word you've said in the last year. Being an honest bloke has nothing to do with appreciation. Most honest blokes don't go looking for appreciation, they pretty much move on about their lives without the worry of appreciation. Little of your expert advice pertains to those who come here. Each case is different, each person is different. You just got done professing that this cannot be down on the cheap and I am here to tell you that your statement is completely false. Each person's experience will differ from all others in one way or another. In my case I am predicting having my woman in my arms here in the USA for under $5000.00. She isn't here, and that is not subjective. You can be personally tired as much as you want. Again for being confrontational, I hate hypocrisy. Challenge me anytime you wish that's fine. As for being an expert. When you are married with your lady from where ever she is, then you can tell me about experience. For now you are what you are, applying for a K1 visa, and that's the easy part. So be tired as you may be, you haven't touched the cusp of what yet lies ahead. So when you've accomplished getting her here moving her here, getting the change of status, getting her drivers license, insuring her, you will be well beyond the 5 grand mark. Then you will have the adjustment period, you will be required to do almost everything for her, including scheduling her appointments, taking her to doctors etc. Getting her used to a new society, understanding checkbooks, credit cards, our monetary system. There's an exception to every rule, I wish you all the best but you are from from putting the feather in your hat. The K1 is the easy part. So you're not going to attend her interview at the embassy? If you don't vote, don't bitch. I have gone as far as to bring suit against our local politicians to enforce their own laws. It is called a Writ of Mandamus. I am indeed very involved in our political situation. Again you speak of what you do not know. I am also retired military (Air Force) so I have done my time (3 wars) and saluted our flag more times than I can remember. Don't make the mistake that I do not support our country or way of life. But when our VP says he is above the law and does not belong to the Executive Branch it is time to question the morals of the folks that run this great country. It so happens that while I was in Russia I inquired about putting my skills to work in a developing democracy. I lack the language, not the skills, to be successful in Russia. Does it mean I don't love my country, not at all. I do not have close family as she does and it is unrealistic to think that the only answer is to remove her from her home. I investigate all possibilities as I see them. As for bringing her here on the cheap, I have spoken only about what I have accomplished and my experience in doing so. I make sure that I say that IT IS MY EXPERIENCE and a person’s personal situation may differ. The discussion was about getting her here, not the years to come. I am fully aware that the road is long. I have no allusions about how long and difficult a road it may be. But I am doing all that I can to prepare myself for the journey. It is these questions that I come here for advice. Who knows, you may actually have information I may need. But your constant attacks are not welcome and they certainly turn me away from asking you for your input. If you are aiming for credibility I suggest developing better diplomacy instead of the bull in a china shop tack you seem to take time and again. Most of us here I think are intelligent and serious about our search, and would like to be treated with respect. It is a huge step and challenge we have volunteered ourselves for. Try and give us a little credit for choosing the route you yourself decided to take. AWAYIN... I could not be more in agreement with your comments about the road ahead. I have contacted many Russians locally and asked for their input as well as sought counseling on the subject. Perhaps I will check out the book you recommend. I have included some of the Russians I have met in phone calls to my lady and she has made a few long distance friends. Some now call her on their own and they are helpful in preparing her for the adjustment ahead. I have found that the local Russian Non-denominational church to be of immeasurable help. They are great people and have assisted in translations and teaching me some Russian. They all look forward to meeting her and welcoming into their “flock”. I do find it appalling that there are those who just expect everything to work first time at bat. Every successful relationship takes work from both sides. I suppose that if she just wants out of FSU and Joe USA just wants to be sugar daddy then maybe a working relationship could be created but that is not my style. I consider myself very lucky to have met this lady and been afforded the opportunity to build communication first rather than hop in the sack and see how it goes. That is more or less my history. That is why this is so different from anything I have experienced before. I cross my fingers and will give my all and I believe that she will as well. As Nasfan pointed out, there are many issues ahead of us. Green card, AOS, driver’s license and much more. I am ready for the challenge and even look forward to the experience. My legal background and experience with government agencies should be beneficial to the cause. Only time will tell.
