Martin, you brought up mortgages, I spoke of girls and age differences.
Matin, I have fixed rates, don't know what you deal with. I pay my monthly payments and I don't see it for another month!!! Girls need interaction, whether it is good or bad.. Sorry Martin, I didn't mean to say all women, I mentioned those things can and do happen.
Martin, read my post again....my point was whether girl is close to your age or 20 years younger 50% of marriges end in divorce...whose throwing in towel?????
Well beemer,
I have to say that I have a 100% success rate with marriage, never been married previously and whilst some may disagree I took several trips and times together before we decided, indeed her before me.
A large proportion of marriages end because the couple should never have got married in the first place, my wife happens to be 18+ years younger than myself but we took the time and got to know each other so well that she knows that I couldn't give a sh1t about her age or appearance, I fell in love with her personality.
Not referring to you but roll on the 'one trip wonders', did I read it on this forum or somewhere else that apparently 95% of those 'marriages of convenience' end in divorce and, apparently, after 2 years.
Good for you Martin, how long married? I was for 16 years before we decided that we were not happy, who knew??? What I do know is people change with time, in a marrige you either grow closer or further apart.
Do I hear the word 'green card'!! I think 'marriages of convenience' are planned divorce.
beemer,
Married for coming up to 3 years not that we've spent all the time together, only a story that her, me, and close friends could understand and approve of. Indeed she's working away from home currently, she's fluent in 6 languages and, right at this moment, earning a darn sight more that I am :)
Even during our dating days, when she was an agency interpreter, I never tried to stop her from working, indeed sometimes we would have restaurant foursomes with the couple that she would be interpreting for, so it would be rather harsh of me to go back on my word now to try to stop her from working and indeed we both work for both of us.
I'm laughing, I've just recalled one American guy, whilst his lady was working during the day we became daytime drinking buddies, and he was more than happy to invite me & wife out for the evenings and he would never allow for me to go 50/50, he insisted on paying the entire bill(s). ..... Of course he was getting an interpreter free of charge ..... she has her uses :)
I'm still curious to hear the answer and why some guys target this age group for marriage in the FSU? Why not find one here at home at that age group? I mean you would think that it would be just as easy to find a woman 20 years your junior here as it would be from the FSU, unless the FSU age difference is a myth for the gulliable?
Variable rates, Arms, Marty buy a vowel, only fools and dreamers buy on a variable rate. Hell that's why theres a mortgage mess in the US now. Free money with a catch. People went out and bought more house than they traditionally could afford. The free money inflated the hell out of the housing Market, now some fools are buried in a house with the market falling in a house worth less than when they bought it. I mean who buys on installment a depreciating assest, with the exception of cars.
Plus with government intervention in making home ownership available to all caused the lending institutions to relax their credit qualifications. What a disaster. Now what pisses me off this is getting placed at the foot of the American tax payer with the middle class to carry the biggest payload of it all. Why should we bail out someone who made foolish loans to deadbeats? The mortgage industry is pointing their finger at Government and Government blaming the Mortgage industry, with the american taxpayer being the only victim in this stupidity.
I have to agree with a Dave Ramsey line, you'll never get hurt on a 6% fixed mortgage no matter what time it is.
Want to shore up an economy, go back to the old standard and require a 20% down payment on big ticket items. My parents had to do it when they bought their first house.
nasfan,
But when I took out my mortgage, and from memory, interest rates were close to 15%, there's no way I was going to take a fixed rate then of slightly less than 15%.
I'll take it as it comes, if interest rates come down then I'm in pocket, if they go up then I'm out of pocket, I'll take the rough with the smooth.
Nasfan....I don't look at ages even at home. I went on a date with a 19 yr old recently that I have talked to for a couple months. I had no idea how old she was, I thought she was mid 20's from her personality. I don't know if we will get together again, there were things that disinterested me, one being how to raise kids. Got to get together with a 28 yr old last week, again, I didn't know her age until 2nd date, only because we were talking about songs out when we graduated from high school. She seems pretty nice, but again, I really prefer slender but I am open if she is right for me, certainly I am not head over heels. As you can see, I don't fret about ages and I know I am not the norm, i constantly meet younger girls from my interests( scubba diving). They seem to enjoy talking to me, so I know I am interesting. I do have to say the girls in 20's in FSU do seem a more mature
than girls in States( where I live). It could be night and day at times. Other than girls in FSU that are only on sites for scam/golddiggers, the ones I meet are seem to really be looking for their 'other half'. I do believe you have to meet to know if there is chemistry between you and her. Nasfan...I am looking...everywhere!!!! I do think many men go to FSU and expect to 'buy' a girl's feelings and when spurned respond with contemt. It is very difficult to know a persons real intentions through letters. There is something I find interesting in regard to girls I've met, maybe it is the novelty, their beauty, just stands out from anyone I've in US.
found this forum by chance -looking for "russia flights" in search engine.
This subject is of interest to me.now I answer the post here.
For myself i am 47 . once divorced. I am from stafford in england .Now I have been been married to a lady from arkhangelsk for 6 years, and met her when she was 19, she is now 25 years of age.we live very happily together in my home town. There is no problems for us with age.Fortunately for me she never did like to go dancing or playing volleyball on the beach, which is just as well as there are no beaches in Archangelsk to initiate her interest, and also Off subject-the tapwater is frozen in winter and has to be thawed out by blowtorch or small fire. Anyway
I will try and keep this short and to the point.
My reason for having a very young lady for a wife is this: i do not like the fact that by age 30 or so years some women will have had about 5 or 10 maybe more sexual partners. At least i know with this lady of mine she is clean, has no history, and has not been around the clock and done excess mileage so to speak.I am certainly not unique here in having this mindset. There are other men of my age group married to young ladies.
With regard to archangelsk basically it is a dive, but there are many nice ladies there. Most men can not be bothered to travel there though because of the VERY cold weather and distance from St Petersburg. But for me it was great.I found my wife an absolute jewel something i could never have found in England
Jack
Have to agree with you there about the women and the age thing i think the women age 18 to 24 are very immature here in uk. they also drink too much especially student types are total sluts here.
Beemer, the acronym Scuba, Self contained breathing apparatus, uses only one b!! LOL. When I got my PADI, there wasn't that many women doing it. When I did my last dive in 1996 in Cancun. There wasn't that many women diving then, as a matter of fact, there wasn't any out that day I went with some other guys. Damn how life has changed.
For Jack above, were you there when she was born? Or is it just her word from 19 years of age? You didn't mention how many lovers you had in life? Must have only been one or two I'm sure of it since I read all that purity in the purely puritanical statement.
Good luck in the search especially you guys checking your next date shot cards, or are we requiring physicals to be presented prior to introduction?
Thanks Nasfan...you are correct...it is spelled scuba( I think of scubby). It wasn't so much your timing with scuba diving as to where you were at. The girls here in So Cal are more into water sports, most at early ages. Girls in their 40's are still into it and I would put them up( physically) against any women of same age in world. They are HOT!!!! And their hubbies are $$$$$$$.
Jack -It is good you have Russian woman now.If you in love age not a problem. I know Archangelsk but i tell you Murmansk is more much cold . my father was stationed there with soviet fleet in in 1985. But what is this "dive" in Archangelsk? Can only dive in submarine in arctic waters.
Lyudmilla....in english 'dive' when describing something is to have a negative meaning. Using the word 'dive' with the city Archangel it means a 'shit' hole, not a good place to be in or live............hope this helps. Of course everything is relative....... to where you were brought up or live.
beemer,
'dive' is not part of the ENGLISH language as used in this context :)
Dive, by the English dictionary =
dive
verb (past and past part. dived; US also dove /dov/) 1 plunge head first and with arms outstretched into water. 2 go to a deeper level in water. 3 swim under water using breathing equipment. 4 plunge steeply downwards through the air. 5 move quickly or suddenly in a downward direction or under cover. 6 Soccer deliberately fall as if fouled in order to deceive the referee.
The encarta dictionary (north American) Arrived by highlighting the word "dive" in microsoft word and then Tools>research>encarta dictionary definition number 9 under noun Says: "a dirty, shabby, or disreputable bar or club" and under that it says slang.
I am sure Lyudmilla appreciates your efforts to refine her with proper English Martin.
However I remember a phrase my mother always said "Take a Dutchman for what he means not what he says" And whether it is "dive" or "frantic Gestures" sometimes a definition like beemers to help understand the meaning is more beneficial than precise usage rules.
Martin, 'dive' used in the context of jack's statement, what did you think Jack meant??? I was explaining to Luydmilla what Jack actually meant. Who cares about dictionary meaning, that didn't help Luydmilla out, did it????
Kirkland,
Yes I am definatey 'form' the UK, we would describe such a place as a 'dump', a dump being a place where rubbish and/or unwanted items are left and/or stored, 'dive', as mentioned previously, is an American expression.
But the point I was trying to make was that Lyudmila was appently confused by a 'dive' being in Archangelsk, she might have looked at or learnt the word dive in an English dictionary and then she was informed, wrongly, of the 'English' description of the word dive and I was merely trying to clarify that matter, to clear up any confusion that Lyudmila may have had.
Ha...thanks for the pselling lesun. I'm just joshing about the "dive" definition.
I agree about Lyudmila being confused about the definition.
Confusion reigns when idiosyncratic verbology is used.
I keep having to remember that.
Nothing worse than talking away only to get a slightly bewildered...uh-huh, when you've finished.
