However Ukraine did not rule Hungary(Hungary being in central Europe), Russia did, so if Aussieman is to claim any credibility of any knowledge that he picked up from his parents then it would only be knowledge of Russian culture and not Ukrainian culture and even then it would be the culture as it was of some 40-50 years ago and not the non-communist culture of the modern day. However, and prior to the Russian rule of Hungary, Hungary had been fighting against the Russians, during WW11, in alliance with Germany so, not only, were the Hungarians not that close to the Russians but they were so much closer to the Germans and indeed the Germans occupied Hungary during the latter stages of WW11. She really liked the darts, they were 21 gram Magnums, top of the range Harrows pommy darts retail $130 usd a set, nice knurled 97% Nickel alloy shafts, top quality dimplex flights. I only paid $40 usd on ebay for them, brand new! It was good to give the poor girl something she could not get in Krivoy Rog..they don't sell top of the range darts there,only cheap ones with brass shafts and I did not mind giving it as a gift but after that I told her I was not coming and it was not the time to consider marriage in my life,I am not ready to make that move so I backed away...don't commit to something if your heart is not really in it, my motto. I send you some cheap toy plastic ones, nascar and martin fooker...you can then throw darts at each other. I can't believe this old dead and buried darts shit has come up again here. Had you ever been to Ukraine, and/or had the foggiest idea of how things work there, then you'd realise that in many establishments the cashiers office is away from the main area thus there is often little option but to let a card out of one's sight. This said, I have never had a card fraud problem in Ukraine and I would estimate that card crime there is by far less than it is in western countries. Not important for Aussiman's two year old actions but might be worth remembering if choosing future gifts. And I do not think a warning of credit card fraud is wrong to give. I am very cautious with my card but when I went to Russia in Summer 2007 I used mine to purchase a flower out of a vending machine at the JFK airport and then only at atm machines in Russia. When I returned home I found that my number had been lifted somewhere and $1800 of online purchases had been made starting on about the 4th day I was in Russia. Other than this trip I use my card only for Internet purchases and had not made one for 2 weeks prior to leaving for Russia. There is no incentive for the law establishments to prosecute such fraud because the duty falls on my local sheriffs office, my money was returned by visa, visa took their money back from Gnc.com (the site the thief made the purchases at), and the local sheriff's office is too busy eating donuts and dealing with local issues to worry if gnc.com lost $1800. A friend this spring also was frauded in the same manner in Ukraine this spring. But as I said I used cash for all purchases other than the flower so the number was lifted from the vending machine, an atm machine, or the person staying in the 2nd room of the apartment while I slept. If the law would have been aggressive enough to get the IP number of the purchaser from GNC I would have a lot better idea where to be careful but gnc would not give it to me and said they would give it to the law and said there was only one or two cases in their history where the law even cared enough to ask for it. If this was another I was not privileged enough to receive the information from the sheriff. I think this case was merely another paper in the file.
