I thought this was over... I cannot seriously comment on racism in America
but I really want to ;(
look at the rest of the world - please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the only reason racism is big in the US is because it is broadcast coaast to coast and continent to continent... puleeeeeeeaaaaasssssse! sorry for those of you in other countries that have to endure this line of crap about racism --- learn the facts
Just look at who exactly is lecturing us: the black police association.the black lawyers association, the black firefighters association, hell you name name it there is an association for all these professions.
Any one want to know how they work?
Try getting into one of their conventions. You wont get in if you are White.
But if a white person were to go undercover and disguise himself as a black person...well your eyes would be opened to the anti white raciscm that exists in these places.
don't forget BET - I think - I deleted from my direct TV channels available list.
Can you imagine if someone wanted to start a channel WET? And I don't mean a porno site!
There is no doubt that we had blatant racism in America and it was by legal decree before the time of Martin Luther King. There were Jim Crow Laws enacted from 1876 to 1965 advocating Seperate But Equal theory. These laws were on the state and local level especially in the south and they allowed legal seperation of the races for use of public facilites, schools, transportation, services. Under the legal theory these servcies were really supposed to be equal - but of course they were not. Blacks could in theory ride "equally" on the bus (getting to a destination at the same time) but they had to sit in the back. Schools were supposed to be equal in all ways - but of course minority schools got far less atention and funds. Etc.
Martin Luther King advocated a peaceful solution to the seperation/discrimination problem. This differed remarkably from other solutions offered by more radical incluences of the day like Malcom X who advocated violent change.
Martin Luther King was practically canonized by society because we need heroes. And his assasination allowed him to be considered a martyr too. Of course reality shows us that Martin Luther King was nowehre NEAR a saint. He gave great inspirational speeches but he was certainly flawed as a human being.
Racism is still present as it always will be - the only difference now and the 1960's is that supposedly it isn't supported by legal decree, though that is arguable. We still have "afirmative action" on many levels that allows for the promotion of minorities over the majority population in order to make up for supposed past wrongs. That certainly seems to be a form of legally endorsed racism. And of the law and society stil supports the idea of all of these racially oriented groups such as Miss Black USA, Black Entertainment Channel, NAACP, the United Negro College Fund. None of which would be acceptable if the tables were turned and they were oriented toward white people.
After the Civil War, black slaves were legally emancipated. It took then nearly a hundred years for Jim Crow laws to be banned. It can be expected to take a lot longer for it to dissappear from the hearts and minds of people - if truly it ever does. But affirmative action laws and advocating discrimatory organizations of any time (as mentioned above) won't make it happen any faster.
Awesome link! This document offers a terrific example of the thinking by which South Africa's apartheid regime justified themselves as morally upright.
hmmmmmmmmm I only got to page seven. No time now. I do not wish to get into a debate of history. Or rather, how societies may have crumbled over their ignorances and transgressions. America is on the fast path. 'nough said for now. I do not think black or white is the issue for american society. Wait a minute? Liberal v. Conservative doctrines or ideologies are a far more contributing factor. Can't we all just get along? Rhetorical question. As a society still in its infancy we are becoming the model for those after us, uhm, before us(?) on how not to be. There is so much disgrace and greed in the upper eschelon that it no more matters who you vote for. War on drugs. Fight for democracy. Politics and government are nothing but big business. '(I think I will be) moving to Montana soon. Gonna be a be dental floss tycoon.' (F. Zappa).
durak -- how's it going? how's the weather? we had snow in midwest, phillies game cancelled due to snow in denver.
remember -- take no prisoners ,,, and neither be one!
Poor dcv,
Getting picked on by non-white associations.
Turn about is fair play, eh?
Hide behind the stars and bars...
Your a racist and you don't deny it, you actually celebrate it!
you read 204 pages (a proper book!) in (your post) 15:10:14 - ( my post) 14:07:08 = ~ 1 hour 3 minutes?
Quite a performance, that's 3.2 pages/minute.
Then tell me, except for the average IQ (a minor and not-emphasized aspect), what is is main (read:crucial) difference between the 5 human species?
"valid racism" you said?
Go see an optometrist, short-sightedness is rife in your life.
This is the people Obama wants us to "reach out" to.
To begin a "new dialogue" with.
A few words from The Koran.......... "O ye who believe do not take the Christians and Jews as your friends" 5:51.
"Slay the idolaters, those Christians and Jews amongst you, wherever you find them, take them and confine them lie in wait for them at every place of ambush. Fight those who believe not in Allah and the last day. Fight the unbelievers totally. Know that Allah is with those who fear him. Oh believers, fight the unbelievers who are near you and let them find you in a harshness; and know that Allah is with those who fear him and do his will"
(Surah 9;42-47.Surah 8 v60 ‘…strike terror into the hearts of the enemies of Allah…’
Surah 9 v29 - ‘Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the last day…until they pay the jizyah with willing submission and feel themselves subdued.
’Surah 13 v41 ‘See they not that we gradually reduce the land in their control
