I purchased a cd rom on basic conversational Ruanian. Seems easier than Russian as it is the 'normal' alphabet, and has some similarities to French. I wrote a letter in Romanian. Lu was impressed. I had to tell her that I really know nothing, all I didwas cut and paste some conversation phrases. She told me she was very proud of me that I wanted to learn Romanain. She also told me not to worry about learning Rumanian, she would teach me everything! She laughs at me and thinks its so cute the way I mispronounce everything. I do hope to suprise her and make some progress before July. Indeed, the appreciation you get in return for trying is unbelievable, appreciation likely not given by a local girl. I will be trying to extend my vocabulary soon allowing for phrase words to be substituted to create a common but original phrases. The time now before visiting should be used as productively as possible reaping the rewards when there than feeling out of your depth. I am focusing hard on pronunciation than spelling (but do that too) and she loves it when I get (her) going and the support you give each other only creates more confidence to express yourself freely about many things although I do have a specialist subject. :) ensata Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 5/6/2004 3:09:51 PM   Have you found a good source for all that specialized vocabulary for your specialist subject? Hopefully Marsh will do the same. Anyone fluent in the 'non-standard learning Russian' are more than welcome to send me words/phrases not otherwise listed in a dictionary or available on commercial CDs. Ordering a meal, asking how much the bill is and counting your change doesn't go very far when heart to heart.
