Yes tomz, serious people should listen to you. You were just engaged to am island girl 2 months ago. Now you are in ukraine bedding semi pros for dinners and cab rides. There are no lower here than you, an utter failure. Maybe you can screw up for another 10 years looking for a woman, then you will be in your late 60s and imagine those 20 year old women Faye you for your fat belly.
I can't help but notice how cheap you are TomZ, I doubt any of your 4* hotels I would even take a look at. In hotels you get what you pay for, no more no less. Most important for me is location, large tub(Jacuzzi)and full kitchen, of course the price comes in 3-4th in decisions.
In winter you get best pricing, last month I paid ~$600 for apts ...... for 19 days totals. Every apt was in center location with a Jacuzzi tub and 1bdrm...in 3 different cities. I booked through airbnb. One I liked best in Odesa I would stay again( $30/ night, ave $ 27/night in Odesa) This is kind of place I prefer:
https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/306365
( in summer rates go to $70)
In emergencies is only reason to stay in cheap hotel rooms. Like Ibis in Kiev, which is close to train station and my nightclub!!!
BTW, it cracks me up to see grown men acting like children...take that back, who knows if they are grown men???
Two reasons I don't use airbnb. The first I already mentioned. Places are booked and you can't get them.
The other reason last time I booked through there the owner reneged on the pricing and wanted to charge more than was advertised. Also airbnb charges fees to the renter.
Yet another reason I don't like renting apartments is if you're getting off an early morning plane or train you often can't check in until 12-2pm. Other times you have to go to the apartment rental office which is not the same as the apartment itself.
The hotel I am currently staying at let me check in 9am as my room was ready and without any additional fee. And even if they don't let you check in early they often have a baggage room where you can store your luggage then come back at check in time or wait in the lobby or bar. This is not an option with most apartments.
Ok, TomZ, You are probably correct for first time visitors which need that "extra" measure of safety especially if they are of the over 40 crowd.
many young people in the 35 or less crowd are quite a bit more adventurous and will even stay in a hostel, depending upon their proclivities.
fact is, there are quite a few options for people coming to Ukraine. As many have made it a point of bashing my Ukrainian heritage, I freely admit that yes I want an
apartment because of the kitchen, in particular, because it is the place that allows us the best opportunities to be in our "natural habitat"
What do I mean? I can make tea or coffee any time I want and also offer to others who visit. I love to cook and many who stay with me either want to experience my cooking or prove themselves in the kitchen in the context of being a potential mate.
As a "local", the early morning departures or issues TomZ described about off-site offices dont apply in my case as i can explain my plans and make arrangements that suit the owner
although my stays are increasingly in places I own or belong to close friends.
As much as I like the opportunity to fight with TomZ for the fun of it, he has made several points that as a Ukrainian, I cant deny. Hotels right now
ARE CHEAP (they will go up in a couple months) and you can negotiate for a good price or take your business to the place down the street. In many situations, the preference for locals getting better prices are outweighed currently by the power of the almighty Dollar.
As far as the girls, there is some resemblance to the 90s as there is an increased number of girls who will take what they can get with a foreigner because he has means to
support her in country but lets not deny the simple fact that there are an increased number of girls who want to escape Ukraine which had dropped significantly until last year
The number of women on dating sites from economically stable countries is a small number. Desperation increases the numbers dramatically in economically bad countries. The same could also be made for people in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Libya, etc., but those countries do have dating websites tailored for their region.
On this site, I have seen many recent new registrants of young women in the 20s age group.
According to R4G ...."As far as the girls, there is some resemblance to the 90s as there is an increased number of girls who will take what they can get with a foreigner because he has means to
support her in country but lets not deny the simple fact that there are an increased number of girls who want to escape Ukraine which had dropped significantly until last year".....Most like towards western europeans and Arabs/Turkish. if you are halfway around the world good luck.
You are probably correct for first time visitors which need that "extra" measure of safety especially if they are of the over 40 crowd. “
Well,,, I almost died twice in two days from my first and last apartment. Locked out in the middle of winter, several hours north of Moscow.
I’d have to be paid to stay at one,,, and the Jacuzzi would need to be filled with blonds that have my name tattooed on their labia to get me to stay there.
I don’t think anyone should choose an apartment for their first stay in any city. Second stay maybe,,, if the girl checks out,,, if the flat is in a good location and you can find your way around.
I want to be able to leave on a days notice,,,,, you won’t ever get your money back on a flat.
The condition of jet lag may last several days until one is fully adjusted to the new time zone, and a recovery rate of one day per time zone crossed is a suggested guideline. The issue of jet lag is especially pronounced for airline pilots, crew, and frequent travelers. Airlines have regulations aimed at combating pilot fatigue caused by jet lag.
The common term jet lag is used, because before the arrival of passenger jet aircraft, it was generally uncommon to travel far and fast enough to cause jet lag. Trips in propeller-driven aircraft and trains were slower and of more limited distance than jet flights, and thus did not contribute as widely to the problem.
