My irreverent comments were directed to WorldTraveler's arrogant and patronizing attitude to someone who asked about needs for toilet paper while traveling.
I have the outmost compassion and understanding for the difficulties of daily life in countries with economic, crime and other problems.
I still have loved ones who live in Argentina and belive me that life there is no picnic these days.
Well the general view is right, but some details are not correct, and they creat a completely different picture...so in general it is right, but be very careful with the details, I'm not talking about money or about visas (I'm not sure about that, never did this thing:), but about girls here and life, and views...
Sorry, have to correct myself, after reading a little bit deeper it seams that the author was so offended by Russian men that she really doesn't like them or hates them even...I'm not saying that she is a feminist...but who knows??? :)
Completely disagree with the http://www.womenrussia.com/myths.htm description of family life, and how a poor woman lives in the cruel men's world....disgusting...have no respect to the author who wrote that, it seams that this article was written many many years ago...
I am looking for the traveler's tips of course (for my own comfort). And obviously I am interested in an FSU woman (again for my own desires). But I certaintly want to honor and appreciate her, as a woman, but also as a native of her own home land and culture.
While lil'ol' me can do nothing to solve any nations problems, (especially my own), I am interested in the goings on of my girls native land: to respect her and her family to understand and relate to her as a creature of her own culture and national history, and to speak intelligently to her and her relatives and friends. I am not here to save Lucy from an ignoble fate, I am here to find a woman who will love me as much as I love her. Part of my attraction to her is her culture and its values that have shaped her personality and priorities.
So please teach me how to don slippers and deficate in Moldova, but do not neglect to teach me about its history and culture, and its social/political/economics realities as well.
This is so strange to me. I have been looking at the different "Russian Bride" sites. Some of them are basicly meat markets. "Model Quality" women? These are the ones that say they support the anti scam sites. They seem more like they are pimping these women. Also makes me wonder who they are actualy marketing their services too. Maybe it's just me but man....seems a bit sleazy. Are places like this place rare? I mean ones that are more like a true dating service than a flea market?
Has any one heard of this route for a FSU woman to get a tourist visa to the U.S.?:
Lucy, seems to be quite well informed about the workings of visa's and women getting out with their men. She has three close friends that have married U.S. men who advise her. One friend Olga is back to Chisinau for a visit. Anyhow, after I visit Lucy in July she would like to visit me. She beleives that if she collects enough visas in travel to countries that she can easily access, that then it would be easier for her to get a U.S. visa. She has a visa to India (job related), and she would like us to travel to some Western European countries together, and thus obtain more visas.
Well, I would certaintly enjoy seeing Europe with Lucy. But does anyone know if having a number of visas on the passport would make it easier to obtain a tourist visa to the U.S.? (I realize that this is not a Fiance or Spouce Visa. We would simply like to be together a few times before the big committment. Also it may not be possible for us to be together as soon as we may like).
I am aware that each consulate is given wide discretion in making its own rules as to who gets visas and why. I am also aware that figures are kept regarding the percentage of people from any particular country who are granted nonimmigrant and do not return as they were supposed to. These figures are broken down by age and sex (as we are ALL broken down by age and sex eventually :) - but seriously....) and used to make future decisions on who WILL be given nonimmigrant visas.
There are a lot of things that consulate officials consider when deciding whether or not to grant a nonimmigrant visa and whther or not the applicant is likely to return home at the conclusion. These things include - proof of a permanent residence or a similar financial stake in the home country, proof that relatives are dependent on the applicants return, proof that they have a job and the employer is expecting them back, AND proof that they have visited the country that they intend to visit before and have returned in keeping required return date. These are offical considerations used in determining whether or not a nonimmigrant visa is granted.
Of course, if the applicant has never been given to visit the foriegn country he intends to visit - it is quite dificult to establish a track record on returning from that country on time. So it sems to me to be perfectly logical - that if you can show a track record on returning from foreign travel repeatedly - consolate officlas would condier you (in their broad discretion) as less of a risk in not returning from the US.
