And what will you say for one thing that was told by my teacher of etiquette: "When a woman dressed in a great evening dress, wearing some nice jewellery, and a wide-brimmed hat...she should also smoke good cigarette using a long cigarette holder...as without this important detail her image won't be complete".
Is smoking a turn off then??:)
-It turns me off!
-And, apart from my own breathing: when I eventually end up in a 'home' I want the next generation to take care of me and keep society going - not sitting next to me with emphysema...
Ptichka, the picture you painted was perfect until you added the so called required smoking bit. Smoking is trash, you smell like shit, tast just as bad and is a poor look for a woman no matter what she is wearing. as for mystery, no mystery about how this girl smells thats for sure.
I like a woman that takes care of herself. She watches what she eats, dresses nicely and acts like a lady. Smoking is not evidence of taking care of yourself.
Pitchka,
You live in a society that still continues to accept smoking as a tolerated social behavior instead of the health hazard it is.
That does not make it any less UNhealthful.
Will you be arguing with us in favor of smoking like you did in favor of vodka compsumption for health rehab?....I hope not..:))
You have an advantage over the rest of people in your country that do not have the daily interaction with how the rest of the world sees and treats things.
Most western countries still have a significant amount of smokers, but the vast majority of them have already turned the corner when it comes campaigning to educate their peoples about the risk of smoking.
Lately (meaning 5-10 years), many cities and entire states have implemented strict anti-smoking laws. These laws seem to have done the trick in California, at least.
Hopefully, it won't be long before your teacher of etiquette, like millions of westerners, quit this vicious and murderous habit.
As for a woman who smokes......uuuuuggggggghhhhhhh.
GLTALLTOAD, you wrote:
"I speak Spanish, English, Italian, Portuguese and Toadish, of course.
That would make me multilingual, I guess... "
-Impressive!
Toad, well maybe the words I will say will make you sad...but I got used to smoking, I mean my dad smokes, my boyfriend smokes...and I got used to that so that the smell of cigarettes is linked in my mind like a part of a smell of a man...and this is what I like!!
I don't want to argue if it's good or bad, I know just what I like!!!
Then what you like will kill you, kid...Simple as that.
It does not make me sad. It is your life, not mine.
Add tobacco use to the long and ever growing list of factors that determine why men and women die in their 50s and 60s in FSU, while averages in the west are in the 80s for both men and women.
Pitchka, would you like to enjoy a couple decades longer of life?....May I remind you you only have one life to live, dear.
" not really, many people speak several languages"
yes, but I suffered from the idea/misconception (?) that it was less common for people with english as first language...(?)
(no, I am not trying to have a go at people in US)
You know we have a proverb it says
"you may smoke, drink, and flirt with women and be yourself a friend,
you may not smoke, not drink, and not flirt with women and be yourself an enemy".
I know that I have only 1 life, and I want to live it the way I do, I do enjoy it, and what will kill me it's not important, I'm happy with my boyfriend, and if I will live longer or shorter, it doesn't matter as long as we're together.
In my family no matter what they did people always lived up to 80 and 90 years and they were themselves friends...and I'm myself a friend as well:)
sancho,
People who travel a lot usually manage at least one other language besides their native tongue.
I was always eager to learn languages and found it fairly easy to learn since i was a little boy.
