The last place you would want to be, while being married to a woman from the FSU, is spending time here. You've got the woman of your dreams, so spend time with her. If she ain't home, learn how to cook a new dish, take out the trash, pick up a book, cut the grass, etc. As I said before, I'm happily retired from this hobby. I visit this site now and then to read about people bickering back and forth as to who is the expert in this hobby. I didn't strike gold, but at least I was able to see different countries and get introduced to a new culture, in more ways than one. Best of luck to all of you are still laboring through this. I'm more concerned and happy right now being financially secure with no credit card debt. I'm not taking sides, but everyone seems to blast Apal because he enjoys telling his side of the story. Only one girl in 3 years of searching on the internet has been a real Ukraine girl but we did not proceed to the meeting..she did not really want to move to Australia because of huge distance and the limited likelihood she could go back to her country regularly to see family and friends. I have been in paid agency sites as well as free sites and been around a lot on the internet and been in other forums too, over the years. I can only personally comment on my internet experiences...it would have been a nice thing if I had meet a real girl on gone on a visit, but you don't fly over there and meet a girl when you know she is a reported scammer..nobody would, if they had ounce of common sense! If a FSU girl you are writing to, you find latter to be a reported scammer, you can not afford to give them the benefit of the doubt and choose not to believe the report..too much is at stake here! You will always hear more horror stories than success stories. This forum in particular is a den of negativity, and it saddens me that the moderators don't come down harder on the flaming and insults. It's harder and harder to find good information on this forum because the signal to noise ratio has become so low. So don't be discouraged. There are a lot more successes out there than the naysayers would have you believe. My own trip to Russia was such an amazing success that I'm still reeling from it. Even if the K-1 doesn't pan out, I had a great time with a great woman. And the secret to my success (so far) was simply that I did my homework and didn't listen to the naysayers. Good luck to you! The guys that either seldom post or don't post at all. This is a mans forum, and bantering is common, though most of the negativity is directed at the doom and gloom guys. If you read in their posts, you will pick up small things that they say will give you an idea why they "struck out" Beemer quit being so damned PC. Ulmo I wouldn't worry about the K1 process, it's a rather easy process. The difficulty is mostly on her side getting the documents required. All your questions can be answered by many of us or I just refer guys to www.visajourney.com. Great site, great forum. What has hurt this forum in the last couple of years is the great scammer hunters. Hell if you have a problem with a lady, tell it to admin. We don't need to know that a lady is a scammer, we know they exist, at least those of us who have common sense, also in that same vein just because one person qualifys her as a scammer doesn't necessarily make it so. I would worry more about how marriage agencies, the name in itself is a scam, perpetrates to the fools that use them as being helpful in finding the woman of their lifes. Check out the most suitable route you want on the internet then book it with a travel agent. I suggest using a travel agent as even though they may cost a little more they usually can provide real help if you hit a travel snag which does happen. Choose where you want to visit, a couple of cities is usually advisable. Book a local apartment, do google searches on the places you are visiting. Also ask here as people can usually diresct you to good apartments. Go on the basis of having a good time and seeing some sights. My advice is avoid marriage agencies as they are in the business of selling services not finding you love, although some are good at apartment rentals. Look up popular introduction sites and contact girls through these. If they turn out to be agency adverts drop them. My strongest recommendation is to search znakomstva in cyrrilc and you will get a lot of free Russian dating sites with literally millions of women to chose from. You can use translation software to get the gist of them. Then start contacting girls from where you plan to visit. You will be amazed at the number and quality of women there who wil be repared to meet and as these dont target foreigners there are few scammers. Learn cyrillic, it took me a weekend, pick up some vocabulary, it helps when you are there and impresses the ladies. I suggest going there rather than writing lots of letters but each to his own. jetmba. "the tour" which presumably means plunking down $3,500 or so for the all-inclusive tour (which includes airfare, room, and Romance Socials) or #2. "Jetmba's idea" which (I'll remind readers since it buried in the text above) is to pay the roughly $800 for the Romance Tour specifically and then to book your airfare and hotel seperately. Tony - if you've NEVER traveled a lot before, especially in the FSU - I suggest that you go with the whole package provided by the Romance Tour company. They meet you at the airpost, take you by bus where you meet your group (the other single guys) at the hotel, there is always a guide there to help you out of a bind and to help you contct the ladies (most places have a hospitality room - an office set up by the tour company right at the hotel with catalogs of women listed by the cooperating local agecies). You won't waste anytime making arrangement in a strange place. They do everything for you. And you share a certain comradarie with the other guys as you meet for breakfast and dsicuss your experiences. If you HAVE traveled extensively ESPECIALLY in the FSU - then book the place yourself as well as the airline. One thing I have found that works very well is to use a Ukrainian booking service to get the best price on the hotel you have in mind. They often have special arrangements with a variety of hotels and get you a much better price than you can get yourself, ot through any western travel agent. (I've gone that route twice, in Dontestk and in Yalta and local travel agents are the best at getting a great price.) But I still swear that Romnace Socials are the way to go. My first was an all-inclusive arrangement. ANd I would do that again as it was the best way to get my feet wet in this sort of travel. By the time I went again - I had been to the FSU some six times and so I bought the Romance Socials themselves and put the rest of the tour together the way that I wanted it.
