"Yuck. I ran out of coffee, so I got out the Ukrainian coffee from my baggage. I don't believe it has caffeine in it. "
You aren't by chance talking about JACOBS MONARCH are you?
I became addicted to that stuff while in the FSU and looked all over for it in the US.
Can't get Jabobs where I live.
My lady sent me some from Mariupol - but it wasn't enough.
Finally I found an importer of German coffee in Atalanta Georgia - the JACOBS KRONUNG GOLD is, I think, the same and its available in quatity by mail order.
But I love that coffee and it definitely has caffeine.
As I look at it now, it isn't Ukrainian coffee, but it is in a small 3/4" X 4.75" packet that the coffee from the Boryspyl Hotel provided. I don't know where my daughter got these coffee packets. I thought they were American brand with Russian writing. It looks like it's all American - Taster's Choice by Nescafe.
Maybe I need two packets for a cup. I do remember the Monarch coffee. It wasn't strong enough either.
My cup is really two and a half cups. It is that soup cup given free of charge by Campbell Soup. It's probably psychological. Green packets are usually de-caf. The Monarch packet was green, and I remember not taking it as a serious cup of coffee.
Gemini, that was what I believed when she went to Moscow a few months ago. I did not ask her on whether it was the cost or her phone simply did not work. There was no major lapse in our communication other than her train ride then. She texed me her brother in law's number as soon as she got to Moscow. I again continued talking to her in her phone when she got back.
I must admit my wife can be a bit dopey when it comes to phones. Each time she goes travelling I tell he to put lots of money on the phone so she can call in an emergency. She puts on 25 grivna ($3) which on roaming charges last 2 - 3 min. Her parents just went for a holiday in Egypt. Their phone credit went after about 1 min. Had to transfer $15 worth of charge to them to keep in contact.
Still no answer, but I don't believe she's gone. Of course, there is that possibility. Why then would she answer the phone on the way to Kiev and tell me she'll talk to me when she gets back? Looking at earlier posts on this thread, the soonest that a passport can be ready is two weeks. She left six days after I sent her the money. that was 15 days ago. I was not counting the days, but I did just now called my long distance company and asked. Perhaps she had to wait for it and then do the visas and so forth and then got sent to whoever knows where? I will keep trying.
Well, I told you that it takes two weeks. But your lady told you herself that she would receive her passport in one week, by using a passport agency. This sounded fishy to me, which is why I've been interested in your situation.
I'm not criticizing you for trusting her; I have certainly made many mistakes myself and trusted many girls that were not worthy of my trust. However, you ask why would she answer the phone on the way to Kiev and then not talk to you for 15 days. My guess is that she is doing something there and doesn't want people there to know about you, or you to know about what she is doing there. This business about her phone not working or costing too much is the oldest excuse in the book: "my battery died/I lost my charger/I was at the beach and couldn't get service/there's no reception at my parent's flat/my account ran out of money/...." I've heard them all. Girls in Ukraine are fanatical about being available on their mobile phones. If a girl is out of touch for more than an a few hours, or a day at the absolute maximum, in my experience it's usually intentional.
RB where is she now?
You say she's on her way to Kiev...what for?
I'm losing track of her!
Best case scenario is she's left her charger and is trying to save battery life.
Doubt it though...the charger goes in the bag just like the other essentials.
Worst case secenario...she doesn't want you intruding on her affairs at the moment.
Did she give you a date as to when she would become "available" again? That's a line I got...twice.
Or she's scammed the money to assist in phucking off to meet another guy ..... now where does that sound familar ..... not to mention a particular website that some of you were provided with the address of :)
I don't know where she is. She did tell me when we talked while she was at the train, but I didn't understand. I thought it would only be a few days. To me, it does make sense that there is a roaming charge. Why would she not talk to me on the way to Moscow, but she did when she got there? Why was she using phone cards in Simferopol and Kiev when I was with her?
I take it back. When she was at Moscow, she did not text me her brother in law's number. She told me she would call me and I should not answer it. I would then call her using the caller ID, which is what I did. Guys, maybe what she is doing is not answering calls, but calling them back on phone cards.
I don't want to speculate on anything. I will keep calling. Again, this is my fault. I was supposed to visit her last month. This recession has hit me hard. Yet, I still have hopes to make it there this year.
SAVE THE LAST DANCE FOR ME
Drifters, Ben E. King, Doc Pomus
You can dance
Every dance with the guy
Who gives you the eye
Let him hold you tight
You can smile
Every smile for the man who held your hand
Beneath the pale moonlight
But don't forget who's taking you home
And in whose arms you're gonna be
So darling, save the last dance for me,
Oh, I know
That the music's fine
Like sparkling wine
Go and have your fun
Laugh and sing
But while we're apart
Don't give your heart to anyone
But don't forget who's taking you home
And in whose arms you're gonna be
So darling, save the last dance for me,
Baby, don't you know
I love you so
Can't you feel it when we touch
I will never, never let you go
I love you oh, so much
You can dance
Go and carry on
Until the night is gone
And it's time to go
If he asks if you're all alone
Can he take you home you must tell him, NO!!!
Beause don't forget who's taking you home
And in whose arm's you're gonna be
So, darling, save the last dance for me
All Along the watchtower

There must be some way out of here," said the joker to the thief,
"There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief.
Businessmen, they drink my wine, plowmen dig my earth,
None of them along the line know what any of it is worth."
"No reason to get excited," the thief, he kindly spoke,
"There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke.
But you and I, we've been through that, and this is not our fate,
So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late."
The above doesn't beat the lyrics for "Like a rollin' stone" by the same geezer.
I think I wil go by sail boat to Ukrain because I think it will be a lot cheeper than flying. Can I sail my boat up the rivur dnepr? Also wil I need a pasport if I cum by boat?
Somewhere, my love
There will be songs to sing
Although the snow
Covers the hope of spring
Somewhere a hill
Blossoms in green and gold
And there are dreams
All that your heart can hold
Someday we'll meet again, my love
Someday whenever the spring breaks through
You'll come to me out of the long ago
Warm as the wind, soft as the kiss of snow
Till then my sweet
Think of me now and then
God speed my love till you are mine again
Now on my own, think of me now and then
God speed my love till you are mine again
Just to update you guys. I have not heard from her. She is probably not using her phone, so she probably is traveling. About 90 percent of the time, it goes immediately to the recording. This recording is not from her phone. It is from the phone company. The other 10%, it does ring, but a different ring than it was when she was in her home town. After about ten rings, it goes to the same recording.
This happened before. About two months before I visited her, her phone sometimes did not work. Then, for two to three weeks, I was not able to phone her. When I finally did, she said it was her phone. I sent her money before my trip so I can get a hold of her when I got there.
Well, guys. I got an e-mail from her. She gave me a number to call her. The long distance code is 39. That's Italy. She said she tried to text me, but could not. Now, after all of what you guys said, how in the heck did she make it to Italy?
