I don't buy membership in any dating agency except for an occassional single month here and there every few years. I use a free service as my back-up now. I never (rarely) pay for translators because if the girl can't speak english I am not interested. I never pay per letter - because I never send letters through an agency. I don't spend a lot of time going through profile either (though I must admit I look at pictures once in a while on the free site) because I meet the girls in person - THEN I check out their profiles. My biggest expense is my airfare - about $1,050 round trip . And the Romance Socials themselves. If I attend one it is $250, two are $600 and three are $800. Only rarely do I take all 3 at $800 - usually its 2 at $600. Hotel or apartment is around $50 a night - and food - I grab something in a grocery store if I am eating alone. And if a girl insists on going to an expensive restaurant - well likely she will have just one date with me. If you can avoid expensive agencies, this can be economical. A fantasy that is based on 20 year old girls from a 3rd World country.. Jetmba loves AFA socials because of the small numbers of men against the women. This makes him 'stand out'. The women are 'lured' to the socials for free drinks, eats, prizes and fools like jetmba. What jetmba hasn't put on his spreadsheet, is the TRUE costing of his 10 year fantasy trips. I would guess he's spent between 20,000 to 30,000 dollars. Jetmba should work for AFA, he probably knows the country better then they do ( laughing my arse off big time ) Or, perhaps be a freelance journo.. At least this way, jetmba will have a purpose rather then an excuse. Is that for AFA when you have your own accommodation and air fare. Or is that the pricing for some other agency. What do you prefer hotel or apartment and what is the difference?. - Does apartment come with internet and western amenities and how do you find the apartment. - What are the options to access internet on the personal notebook? - What will it cost to rent an apartment for lets say 3 months for 2-3 people in summer in big and small city in Ukraine? - Has anyone tried to hire the interpreter full time for a month. What's the price for that? - What is the average cost per meal for medium and expensive restaurant when going on date? This also happened to a candy factory about the same time IIRC. Slavutych didnt have the security of some other places but I really liked the staff there as I stayed there occasionally as Ive sometimes had renters in mine or had guests that I preferred not to stay with and quite a bit more before I bought it. My apartment is about 200 meters behind Slavutych. Olga, Luda and the night manager(cant remember his name) were most excellent people. I must also admit I really enjoyed the girls at the "lounge" upstairs "eleven seven" or something. You could get laid for 40 bucks if you spoke Russian or 100 bucks if you were one of those "rich" Americans. I got to know some of the girls that worked upstairs. heard their stories and stayed out all night with a girl teaching her English words and phrases to use when a guy from Australia was coming to meet her for the first time from through an agency. sadly, the prostitutes Ive met and spent time with helping out and teaching were more genuine and interested in finding a good foreigner than the agency girls. I especially love the neighborhood around slavutych (Rusanivsky) Ive never not felt safe there even late at night and everything you could need or want is only a few minutes walk away. Thereafter - if you don't speak the language - and don't have a lady staying with you who does, an apartment is better than a hotel. You get a lot more prvacy in an apartment. She can cook for you (or you can cook together). You can go grocry shopping to together. You don't have to worry about pesky "security" knocking on your door and asking for more money as the lady is there for the evening (that HAPPENS). You don't have to register her seperately. But since I only speak a tiny amount of Russian - I prefer to stay in a hotel when I am without a lady. Wifi is available, at least in the lobby, at almost every hotel. Often in your room as well. My netbook works well enough to pickup wifi signals even when I am told they are only available in the lobby. Can't help you with monthly rental of an apartment as I have only done it by the day. You will pay about 5-600/month vs 3-400 for the same apartment for a year. By the same token, daily rentals can be as low as 30 bucks per day although the realistic average is 40-60 and again that depends on if its in center or outside. You may be surprised to know that internet is fairly common especially in ones that cater to foreign renters. independent interpreters start at $7/hr in small cities and can go to 12/hr in Kyiv. Ive heard of many people getting daily rates based on a week or more from about 40 bucks/day. I know of a couple in select cities I can recommend. I know a Crimean restaurant right in middle of Krechatik for only 25 bucks for 2 or places like Mafia start at that 25 bucks and can go upwards to 100 if wine, appetizers and desserts are involved but as Jetma said its usually half if you stay away from city centers. I always recommend to experience Ukraine/Russia as much like a local as possible which means going to the grocery and cooking yourself. Many apartment have the basics...the bare basics for cooking,lol Learn to take the bus or metro, walk and do as much as possible to "live" locally so you can get an idea of the girl's life. If you walk out of the front door,,, then turn right, heading for the street along the river with the statue: Creator of Ukraine across the river at about the 11:00 position,,,, then take another right,,, walk past the flower stand and the grocery store with the money exchange window inside and outside of the store,, go about 200 meters. Then,, there will be a “U” shaped road,,, going in counter-clockwise,,, and on the left side,,,, right side if you drive in,,, a nice restaurant that has a patio for summer time use. I don’t remember what I ordered there,,,, but it was good! I don’t know the ladies names,,, but I’ve had the same girl behind the desk on every trip. I know that in your situation she didn't give you much choice. There are APARTMENT RENTAL AGENIES that are entirely seperate from dating agencies. They represent a large number of partment owner who have bought these things on speculation and hope to generate income for them. Of course these agencies will always show you the apartments THEY own first. The grocery thing is funny. We westerners are spoiled and used to putting it in a cart after checking out. We then and push the cart directly to our cars - which are immediately in the parking lot. The only time we actually CARRY our full purchase, is when we take it from the car, into the kitchen. And that can be done at leisure and in several trips. Ukrainian women think nothing of walking a mile or more to the grocery store. So if you buy a lot you have to carry these plastic bags home till your arms fall off. She will likely offer to carry something - but being a man, you don't want her to carry much. You DON'T want to whine, just because you are not used to carrying 50 pounds for a mile, especially in the cold and snow. And you certainly don't want to appear to be an "old man". The answer is simple - if you are going to get a lot ALWAYS get a taxi. Buy everything you might need in the beginning (I am assuming you will be staying with her a week in the apartment) and let her know that you will take a taxi home to start with. Paulx - Regarding prositutes - remember the old joke. A man says to a woman "Will you sleep with me for a million dollars?" The woman responds "Yes of course!". Then the man says "Well how about for $20?" The woman says "What do you think I am? A prostitute!??!". Then the man says "We've already established that. Now we are just negotiating a price." What I am saying is that for the right price MANY women could become "prostitutes." When you only make $150 - $200 per month things sometimes happen that don't match our comfortable western lifestyles. You never know exactly whe these women have gone through in their lives. If you ask a woman if she is prostitute and she is looking for a trick, she will likely tell you. But if she isn't a prostitute you are likely to insult her immeasurably and your odds on getting a date are greatly decreased as you have greatly insulted her. I have never been solicited by a prositute at a Romance Social, outright. NEVER. I recall a time I was really smitten by a girl, and I was kind of circling waiting for the opportunity to talk with her - she noticed, and she approached me offering to leave with me immediately and to go somewhere "comfortable". But thats not prostititution. That is a woman trying to get your attention and away from competitors immediately. I declined the offer because the Romance Social had only begun. How much time do you have with a girl? As much as you need. Though the tour director will sometimes nudge you to get you to move on and give others a chance to meet (you don't HAVE to of cours if you have found the one). Some men are very organiazed and efficient. They get four girls phone numbers every hour. And they arrange four dates per day (or more) every day after. Those men are seldom successful in finding "the one" in my opinion. I typically talk to ten girls - get phone numbers from 3 or 4 - and go out with 1 or 2 (sometime 3) - because I know what appeals to me. Even into their 30's. So they did have a HER place. The girls I have been serious with(2 of them) I lived with 24/7 in Ukraine. She would meet me at the airport and see me off when my plane left. This new one - I expect will be the same. If she has her own place already - I am not sure how I would handle that. I think its easier to get a girl to stay with you 24/7 if she is living at home vs. her own place, unless you move in with her in her place for the week. If she will let you. I've never tried that.
