I know of guys who have spent thousands on Aweb and NOTHING. I know a guy who spent 3K in one month travelling in Ukraine meeting the girls on Aweb. He managed to meet 9 girls in person. They would only meet him with an expensive interpreter and restaurant. When he tried to get a relationship with each of them they told him "You're too old". He was 52 and they were all in their 20s. I asked him, Why don't you choose a more reasonable age difference? I just got a blank stare back from him. This was way back in Jan of 2010,,, I was pretty much done with Aweb months before that,,, and only writing to a couple of women then. It only took one trip to see the scam,,,,, letters are useless. The main goal of every agency and agency girl is to get men to their city. Nothing about the man matters for this. Not age, looks, money, personality, location,,, nothing! Every girl will write to you/us. You can tell them that you are not rich,,,, hoping to scare off the gold diggers,,,, but that doesn’t work! A poor man’s money is worth just as much as a rich man’s money,,,,,,, until he runs out of it. I have disabled the feature where they can request video chat. I will get incoming chat requests almost immediately. I also try to stay logged out. I get fewer emails that way. "Nikolaev? Why people go there is a mystery to me." Well the language school has at least one great instructor (mine), is also passionate about helping guys avoid scammers and provides consulting services for those of us who might want to eventually go expat. Since I am doing my first trip to Ukraine solo, they have been very helpful to me. I might have found something similar in Kiev or Odessa, but I found this one first. Everything I want to do in Nikolaev is very close. Attractive to me in the middle of Winter. Somebody wrote that sincere FSU women will not write to you. I think a few of the older women who have written to me are sincere and would love to get something going. I read a thread on them just days before my first trip,,, every word was negative and true! I only let an agency plan my trip once,,, airfare, taxi, flat and interpreters,,,, and won’t ever do that again. I let them do it, because it was for the Russian part of the trip,,, I didn’t want to mess with making all of the connections. Btb,, I’ve had bad luck in Nikolaev too. Been there twice,,, less than 36 hours and less than 18 hours. The town itself is nice,,, but the new agencies there have no scruples. I planned to stay at the Nikotel hotel,,,, but the agency directed the taxi to the St. Nikolaev Hotel. The place is dirt cheap,,,, about 20USD for a room. The room was okay,,,, but the towels were musty. I bring my own towels because of that. If your plans change,,,, the St.Nikolaev hotel has at least 2 agencies inside,,,, women are coming and going constantly. They have a little café’ downstairs with wi fi. If you stand with the main door to your back,, the “City Centre” is across the road at 12:00. I didn’t walk through it,,, but they have two ATM’s by the front doors. To your right (from the St.Nik) at 3:00 is the Nikotel and Continental hotels,,,, one of them has a whirlpool suite. Diagonally across the intersection at 1:30,,, and down the road 100 to 200ft is Club Storm,,, nightclub, restaurant, and bowling ally. Yes but if the lady organises a flat or hotel room for you, for a good price (you could even double check the price yourself), if she takes you to nice restaurants but cheap, if she organises a visit to a banya or something like that and you do not get ripped off, then why not? The lady will feel very happy that she is participating in your visit and helping organise things for you. If she wants to take a taxi that costs £5, so what? Any genuine girl will understand if you politely say no to a place you think is expensive. I am talking to a lady that is so keen to show me her city, she will go out of her way to plan my whole visit for me. Again, the good thing is I can ask her before I even book a ticket where she wants to go and where she wants me to stay so that I can verify if she is a professional dater. If she tells me: I know this great pizza place near to where I live, I know I am OK. I know a lot of places, in my town, where I would like to go with a lovely girl. If she is going to do that, she will have to put out the details of the itinerary before my trip. There are some ladies who say that they can arrange everything for you at her area. Since she has not been completely verified with a true bonafide character, assuming face value is highly risky. For most of my travels, I do the planning entirely on my own. If an agent does it, a complete list of cost is provided before I set foot at my destination. If a relative does it, I have blood on my side to accept their help by face value. My planning is mostly centered on the major costs. Inexpensive things are OK. If she suggests an alternative to one of the major cost items, then I will need that information before I travel. And you need an exit plan. That is why I prefer to hire my own "travel guide" when I am there. Btb754 - Is the chat with the ladies with audio or just text? If audio, do they speak any English or just the local language and a third party does the "voice over"? The café’ had a tasty dish,,,, it was an apple baked with a cheese sauce over pork,,, try it if you get the chance. Martin,,,, at Club Storm,,, my date had my attention (and something else) for most of the evening! The dancers in the nightclub were almost naked,,, and the female bartenders were gorgeous. I took some friends and my girls there on Sunday and then we went walking on the riverfront and Soviet street. There are good girls in Nikolaev. The girl I started dating is from there. Very genuine. I do trust but verify and she stayed with me for 2 weeks in my apartment with no issues except one small argument. There may or may not be an alley at City Centre? I only walked to the top of the steps, took a glance, and walked back out,,, after using the ATM. I think I was anxious for the taxi? I might have lost my photos of Nikolaev,,,, but I believe Soviet Str is the street that Club Storm, Nikotel are on. On the way back from Herson to Odesa, we went down Soviet St., and another time we turned by the St Nikolaev Hotel on the way back to Odesa. From that intersection, you can see a church, a car dealer,,,, it might have been GM,,, it was blue,,,, and the “Rosen or Rochen” sign on top of a building. Soviet street is up the main road about 5-6 blocks. McDonalds is on the corner at beginning of the Soviet. LR, probably lots of things have changed in the nearly 4 years since you have been there and you admit that you have spent less than 48 hours in Nikolaev on 2 trips combined. Last time I stayed in Nikolaev it was in a 2 room apartment that except for the bathroom and wifi was still Soviet style. very cool! it was also only 25 bucks/night and 4 blocks from the Soviet.
