Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
A lot of people actually believe that this ammendment contains the words "seperation of church and state". They'll argue "Its right there in the Constitution!!"
I defy anyone to show me where it is.
But I can show you a line that spells out pretty clearly that Congress (the goevernment) shall make NO LAW prohibiting the free exercise of religion.
(Shaggy - its uncanny, even unnerving, that you and I seem to have so many parellels in out beliefs and even our geographic destination chosen for our quest of Russian women. Are you SURE we are not the same person with different screen names - maybe with a split (but combative) personality problem???)
Only when I cut and past from word!...It is strange jet how our little worlds seem to be intwined somehow. I would bet like many others that many people who squable do so to try to sperate themselves from people that are like them in many ways. Who knows. I do find that we agree on much and it is a little scary that we have found similar locations that we find pleasant company. Maybe we are even attracted to the same types of women would that not be sick...lol. But my Moldovian is 24. Practically grown! :-)
I think the US Supreme Court has already given clarity to that interpretation in significantly clearer ways than Jet and Shaggy could, would or should...:)
Go back to chase FSU skirts, boys...leave the US Constitution to those who get paid to interpret it.
On the other hand, Jet and Shag if you stop worrying about the interpretation of the multiple constitutional paragraphs, ammendments and other littly thingies, I will have two more men to compete for the attention of any particular fsu lady...
Go back to research the constitution....when you're done with it, start with the constitution of every other country on alphabetical order (providing they have one).
After that, I think you should both research, debate and personally verify the existence of every one of the millions of insect species in the planet (team work should save you some time)
Shaggy my Moldovan fiance is also 24 YEARS OLD! In fact I will be there in January to help her celebrate her 25th birthday.
(Yours had bette not have a birtday in January and a "brother from Aemerica" or something coming to help her celebrate - or you and I will be combatting again!)
It was my LATVIAN who was 20 and then turned 21 three weeks after I left Riga.
Toad: Constitutional interpretation becomes difficult when you are applying the aged document to concepts that the founding fathers could not have possibly considered - like privacy rights concerning internet usage or our our amazingly complex tax code.
The ist Ammendment whish says (again).
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. "
We're not talking about latin Greek or some complax computer algorythm here. We are not talking about holy words that the common man dare not utter.
Is pretty straight forward. It says that "Congress shall make no laws prohibiting the free exercise of religion". How many different ways can you interpret that?? Sure its been bastardized by case law and people who have stretched and pulled it to try to make it fit their persoanl beliefs, but the wording is very straight forward to anyone who can read, It is just not politically popular among liberals of the modern era.
And...wait a minute...you want Shaggy and I to work as a team identifying species of insects??? You trying to get us to kill each other off so you can have yet MORE space to dominate this board???
Scott:
I like the article on education. Lest you forget - I am from Wisconsin - one of the states that is in the forefront with its voucher system in experimental disctricts in Milwaukee. This program was fought for and advocated by our former Governor Tommy Thompson.
You know... the guy who recently resigned as Secretary of HEW and in leaving said something like "For the life of me I don't understand why terrorists do not target our food supply. It would be so easy to do......"
Four years in Washington must have sucked the IQ out of him. The dolt.
By the way - my Latvian may only be young but she sure hits hard (figurtively of course). She is the one who responded to my announcement that i had chosen to offer a fiance visa to the Moldovan by sending a three word email.... "on my god." Is all it said.
Well she has said a lot more than that since. And she does not pull her punches. And the fact that I have very strong feeling fro her does not help any,
It is crazy that I, a 47 year old, am torn between two absolutely gorgeous girls age 21 and 24. I remind you that I look nothing like Richard Gere or Brad Pitt. (Well... all three of us do have two ears - one on each side of our respective heads - but that is wehre the similarity stops).
Considering that if you add both their ages, you are still older is an automatic qualification to deserve having them both.
No need to be 'torn between two absolutely gorgeous girls age 21 and 24'
If you and your heart can afford the massive amounts of viagra needed to keep them satisfied go for it, mate...
Move to Utah and be happy...:))
But keep in mind that opens up another can of worms, lol...
Two wives mean two mothers-in-law..!!!
Toad you are forgetting the bias of the Supreme Court and know that it will change its view with the next time it goes conservative majority. They had an interesting poll in Missouri on the ACLU and 79% believed they are actually hurting America. The main topic was the attack of the Boy Scouts of America and the strong arm tactics to change its very structure as a private organization. Not a public but private organization. Seems our court system is taking things a bit far with there quotas and religious beliefs or lack of them. Oh well time will tell but I have to say it says freedom of not freedom from. Wait toad a little of that trout fishing will make a religious man of you yet. Mark my words you will be saying all kinds of references to god and jesus and next thing you know you will start with the promises when you start hooking into some of those big uns....lol
Seriously - though mine has never been listed with fiance.com or any agency recently. She went with her friend (who was listed by an agency) to a European Connections Romance Tour. Thats how I met her.
