My philosophy on criminality is to look the other way and usually things are fine. I've talked my way out of more issues than most people too. I grew up going to an inner city High School and had a gun pointed at me in 1975, been mugged and robbed before. I had a 9mm pointed at me, cocked and loaded with his finger on the trigger when I was held up in Houston on a business trip. It's all part of living in a big city. I heard alot of talk from Ukrainians about the safety issues- most was petty theft or stupidity (Carrying large amounts of cash), but as long as you don't go down dark alleys much, it probably is the same as here. Then again, remaining anonymous is a big thing too. I know someone who owns a business in Russia and his bodyguard carries an Uzi. We met some middle eastern guy at RP flashing all his gold and he had a bodyguard too. My schedule will depend on some pressing BS to deal with early next year, let you know PM. The really cool gesture I saw at least 5 or 6 times after we helped someone was for a grateful Ukrainian to take their right hand and place it over their heart and pat themselves there to visually show gratitude. You know what I mean... It is amazing to see that. It shows the good heart, it's hard to explain to people that have not been there to witness the gratefulness. Here in the west, the "Entitlement" problem surplants those feelings. If I had to pick the one thing that I can do to make things easier for me it's learning the language. nobodyknows Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 11/5/2007 11:02:25 AM   Tintin, the same i had in the US. i came to NY greyhound bus station after 4 month staying in another city of the us. my friends who had come to NY 2 days ealier were supposed to meet me there . so we had agreed that they would meet me at the place where the tickets r sold (it was the only place i remembered there). when i arrived,i realised i did not remember anything . i saw the inquiry office and asked the lady abt direction to that place. in return i was not given any answer, and on the contrary, was asked where i need to buy a ticket for.. i asked her again and again, but she said nothing and kept asking me stupid questions. i was on the edge of panic (if i did not meet my friends , i would never know where i was supposed to saty for 3 days, had no phone numbers, knew nothing..) and fortunetaly, one american woman was passing by. she heard me asking for the info, and realised that the girl at the inquiry office did not want to help me. so that woman almost took my hand and led me to the place i needed. So Tintin, do u see that it does not depend on the country, but does only on people and their inner qualities? and another situation- on the day i came to NY (i was abroad for the 1st time), i called the russian girl who was married to a russian american, and asked her if i can stay in her appartment for a night-i caaled her just because 2 months before she had said she would help me, i asked nothing) if there would be no bus to niagara falls on that day (if it was cancelled , i would haveno place to go to). she started hesitating and i understood one thing - she does not want me to come, and will never help me. another mistake on my part was when i decided to call her again before i left niagra falls for NY. i asked abt the same- if my friends do not meet me, may i leave my bag at yours and then will go to find a hotel for 3 days. and said- we have just mooved to new jersey,all is still packed in boxes, i m not sure we have enough room for other things... but if smth is wrong, ok, u may. i thanked her, hung up the reciever and decided to sleep on the street if anything went wrong:))) it would be more pleasant than to see their faces:))) sorry, guys, for so many details, but i could not avoid them:))) boredffukka Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 11/5/2007 3:40:08 PM   Yeah i used army of brides.
