I'm also prove that is possible to live and meet women in Eastern Europe. However; being there for the sole reason to meet women is not the best way. It will burn a hole in your pocket.
It's better to have valuable job or mission. Making friends is a by product of positive contributions. While in I heard of a Peace Corps volunteer in my ex city of 30k doing a great job but like the rest of them removed by order of the U.S. Embassy. While tourists that like sex are targeted for all sorts of scams.
My current lady friend is taking English class from a old Briton married to with kids and she says his Russian is not bad.
RagingBullCrap last post had proven my point and its pointless to add injury to insult when he is bombing this forum with his own stinking useless fertilizer without any discrimination what's so ever. Cause he go nothing better to do then to pop in any topic and to add crappie topic....Needless to say and I quote " I PITY THE FOOL " who falls in love with such guys like him full of BS.

I’m not real familiar with VAT either,,, I thought is was value assessed tax,, instead of added. I have most of my Ukr receipts somewhere,,,, I should look at then again,, cause I don’t recall seeing it, but then,,, it might start with B-at?
"Who's to be blamed for RagingBull's VAT ignorance and self-restrain from bullying commentators? "
If I, as an accountant was asked by my CEO to make a schedule of sales tax, and gave him a schedule marked VAT, he would have no problem with it as long as the figures are correct. Bullying only happens when I do it. If TomZ makes lies about me, that's not bullying? I made that schedule because Martin lied about my income. Yes, I check figures now and then. Then, kaiserdog used that info to bully me.
"It's always the other guy's fault isn't it, raging?"
If kaiserdag's point is not moot, then you have a point. VAT is added to the purchase price, I added it to the purchase price. Yet, a big deal is made out of it and I am the one ignorant.
"i spent a lot of time in ukraine, spent a lot of money, and ultimately I failed"
What did you fail at? What were you trying to do? Get a wife and then bring her back to UK?
Your mistake was working as an English teacher. English teachers are not desirable to women as they don't make a lot of money. Ecpecially in Kiev. I know as I have met some of them. They struggle from paycheck to paycheck living in hostels.
What you should have done is established yourself in a career in the UK, made a lot of money then you would have become a magnate to these women.
Women just aren't interested in guys with no money. English teaching can be a lot of fun and you will meet people but as I said you are not considered marriage material.

When one goes to buy an item of clothing, a packet of cigarettes, a bottle of liquor in a store, a litre/gallon of gasoline at a gas station, the price one sees is the price one pays, any applicable taxes are already included.
When one books a room at my place then on MY advertised prices the price one sees is the price one pays, VAT and a local tax are included, however there are websites out there that advertise the excluded VAT rate, much the same as a low cost airline does, to make the price seem more attractive and once one starts clicking buttons then the price goes up.
So, various items are subject to added tax but, more often than not, the tax has already been included and is not added to the advertised/labelled price.
Raging Bull posted--According to kaiserdag, LR your ignorance proves you have not been overseas.
Raging Bull,
I have not seen LR pushing that envelop as far as possible like you had done....Currently, you had set the tone when posting degrading comments towards your fellow forum members. Regardless of wether you been overseas or not your lack of wisdom on such important matters had been hard copy. Just stop making up excuses for your mistakes...a simple retraction would have been good enough...being a tough cookie only works chicks.
I am aware that one can get a refund on GST in Canada,,, but we never tried.
I never thought about it in Ukraine, and it wouldn’t amount to much anyway. Plus,, isn’t it kind of a moot point?? With the shape of Ukraine’s economy and their situation,,,, who would be so bold as to request it. If I went back, I’d probably tip more than ever.

So, I have been overseas or I have not? Who is making excuses for their mistakes? That is not a mistake? Was not that your proof that that I had not been overseas?
What does all with this have to do with my being overseas? Retraction of what? The adding of tax by country to goods bought? I added VAT and it's supposed to be added, and I put in plain English, "if applicable".
I used VAT for simplicity as I have said. I live in California. You don't think that I know that sales tax is charged here instead of VAT?
