paulx: I checked out that marriageagencyscam site and frankly, I don't think much of it. Properly done Ukrainian marriages are certainly recognized by the US government.
Without question if she wants to get a divorce from you in the US, she will accuse you of abuse. But I can't see why having signed and notorized papers are going to help you out there. The fact that you never abused your former wife would certainly never be proof that you DIDN'T abuse this one. Besides the judge could be suspicious of the fact that you went through all that trouble before hand to get those papers. Perhaps were intending to cover your butt, when you DID inevitably abuse your wife, and you threatened your former wife into signing papers saying you never abused her?
The guy who owns that site makes it clear that he isn't giving legal advice and thats good. Because that would certainly be bad legal advice.
One advantage I can see in getting married in her country if you live in the US is that the marrage visa process is very similar to the fiance visa process. But under the marriage visa process you don't have to leave her in her country for 8 or 9 months. She can be with you while the paperwork is clearing.
Also IF you got married in her country and things don't work out, there is probably better chance she would seek a divorce in her country (though I have no statistics on this). And I suspect the husband (you) would be treated more fairly - though this is just a hunch and a guess.
Beemer,,, did you notice the time of day those stories were posted?
If you want me to highlight the interesting parts of the post,,,, send me a PM in advance of what you find interesting in the post.
Gee,, Smart?A-H,,, what happened to you, to make you so bitter and jaded?? Were you taken too????
I like how you said that martin learned!! So,,, why is that a bad thing???
The money that I spent on the “Whole” process, would have been spent anyway,,, I just would have had a better, more relaxing vacation if I stayed in the US.
Ask danny about the money that he has spent?? He claimed it was over 200,000. Over two years ago??!!!!
Paulx,,, one thing that S-a said is true! If you go into this, like it is a big wonderful adventure,,, the agencies will see that as an opportunity to pluck a pigeon. Be ready to stand firm and hold your ground. Otherwise they will try to talk you into everything they can think of.
If I had to describe with one word,, why I haven’t found anyone yet,,, it would be “agency”!! They are not in the business of joining singles together,,,, they only want us to think that. If you marry one of their,,,, “good?” girls,,, you are taking away a source of income!! They frown upon that!
Jet said... But under the marriage visa process you don't have to leave her in her country for 8 or 9 months. She can be with you while the paperwork is clearing.
What is this marriage visa called. I though there was only fiance visa for coming to US...K1 visa.
Jet,, I’ve heard, that only the church weddings are taken seriously,,, in their own country! A wedding by anyone else could simply be blown off if they both desire it. And,, a wedding in one country is not recognized by the other. I have heard this in Ukraine,,,, and not just on here. Lol
Paulx: The marriage visa is called a K3 - and it shares many similarities to a k1, except since you are already married she comes with you, and you sit through the waiting period together.
Under k1 you have to file a lot of paperwork - the she gets invited to an interview at the US Embassy - she has to have medical exams and pass an interview process. THEN you get the k1 visa which is good for 90 days and must be started within the next 6 months. The process took me and my ex-fiance about 6 months in 2004-2005 and I understand it takes longer now. During that time she sits in her country and all you can do is wait for approval.
Under the K3 you get married in her country - take your papers to the US embassy in her country and get approval. You can have a plane waiting for you because she gets to come back with you right away, while you wait for much of the same paperwork (as the K1 visa) to clear.
The thing is of course, under the k3, you are already married. She doesn't get to see your home beforehand. She doesn't get to decide if she like America. And if ultimately she is not approved for any reason (very possible) she has to leave and you are married to a woman who can't come to the US.
Lonelyranger: It gets complicated. The only LEGAL weddings are done by the state.
Under the old Soviet system marriage were done in the state run "Marriage Bureau". That system is still used for legal weddings. To be considered legally married you have to have papers from the Marriage Bureau.
People a lot of people consider a REAL marriage to be a church affair, So they get married in church too. These might even seem to be more serious at times - but they aren't legal.
Example: My Moldovan exfiance is now married to a Romanian guy. She had to do that in order to be able to move from Moldova to Romania and live with him. And she did it in a matter of five months after meeting him. It was an official and legal move and they are together, but in may ways they don't consider themselves really married until they do it in church before friends and family. They are now planning a HUGE church wedding to do just that.
But its the church wedding that is not recognized in America. The Marriage Bureau wedding certainly is.
Jet you have bought a girl to US before. What visa did you use?. What are the options if i want to invite the girl to USA to visit and see if she likes it here. What about tourist, work, student visa or any visa form Ukraine. I heard you can get the tourist visa done from tour companies. Once she come here, then you can go there to her country get K3 done and then bring her here with you. Does K3 have a time limit because I will still have to do K1 and it can take anywhere form 6 -12 months. Will that work?
In UU what kind of Ukraine wedding will be considered legal..not the church one ..do they have marriage bureau or marriage court like here in US.
Samrt A I appreciate that you are concerned about me. I have stayed in several countries and I have a good handle on countries like Ukraine where the business ethics is not in par with western world. We all are all mature here and we can make our own judgments on what advice to use and what not to discard. For me I just listen too my heart, if its want to do it, I do it. I rather don't care about the whole darned world. And so far it has worked. People will give advices based on their experiences. That’s the nature of the beast.
Spending money depends on the value one gets for it and we all have a different perception on that. I feel if you travel to any country it costs money but Ukraine is not as expensive as UK especially if one knows what they are doing. As far as scams go., I make it clear when I work with agency or girl that I am well aware of all the scams and please don't scam me as I will be able to catch it. I tested a online pay for letter site for few weeks and saw that they were scamming. I emailed them and documented the data and I asked for a refund and it was given to me ASAP. Why? Because I told them that if I didn’t get it, I would expose them and hit them hard. So my friend, believe me I am not that dumb. I am fair and I hate being scammed and I have no fear to go after the scammers. Just be like the alcohol bottle, tell the FSU girls and the agencies that you are injurious to scammers. If they still want to mess with you, they should think twice. It works.
Till now,I haven't found a single online dating paid site that is really good and won't scam . It seems the ethics in the business is low.
What is your objective? Are you interested in a serious relationship with FSU girl?
smart a just wants others to be as miserable and pathetic as he is.
to the subject matter:
just because you marry a girl in Ukraine in a legal (and recognized by the US) manner doesnt mean your girl will get easy access into the US to wait out
the process. A quick scan of VJ shows wait times of anywhere of a minimum of 3 months to 6+ months being the norm
Jet,,,, before I can say too much more, I need to find out from Bowhunter about a building across from my hotel in Sumy. It is The Voskresenskiy Hotel . They have a wedding chapel or perhaps a marriage bureau directly across the road. And a 100% useless bank!
I understood it to be a wedding chapel where many went to get married. I didn’t pay too much attention to it,,,, as it was my FIRST day in Sumy! Let me meet her first???! Lol
As with everything in Ukraine, you need to double check !
While we are talking about this hotel,,,, when doing my 2011 taxes this last winter,,, I found two charges to my debt card from my Jan 2011 trip. The card was charged months after my departure??!! Obviously,,, if I had known that before my last trip,,, I would not have stayed there.
Paulx,, the prices in Ukraine and even Russia are much cheaper. Back in 1998, Moscow was considered to be one of the most expensive cities for tourists. Myself and a new acquaintance from Canada, took our dates to a restaurant inside the GUM shopping mall. The girls were almost scared to order from such a place,,, and offered to “share” a meal between them???? The girls didn’t know each other, and offered to split a meal?? The Canadian and I looked at the menu,,,, and thought is was very reasonable,, and told the girls to order anything they wanted!
Kiev is considered to be very expensive for Ukrainians,,, but it’s still cheaper than where I live. Smaller cites like Sumy,,, I call almost “free”!!
I don’t think I would call a girl a scammer to her face,, even if you think she did something questionable. If she is an honest, sincere girl,,,, you just insulted her big time!! If she is a scammer,,, you just told her to step up her game!
At this very moment,, I’m dealing with a scammer on Facebook. After a long dry spell,,, the scammers are back in force on fb. I told her;,, that I am a country boy,, but I do have some worldly experience. I’ve told her, that I have had long distance relationships,,, and that they don’t last long. I’ve told her,,, that I have heard just about every scam there is,,,, it hasn’t phased her in the slightest!!!!
Tonight,, I’m going to tell her,,, or perhaps ask,, where she is originally from,,,, Eastern Europe??? I can tell by the way she writes. And no,, it’s not in Cyrillic! Lol This girl isn’t very good at it,,, she used two different names already.
Till now,I haven't found a single online dating paid site that is really good and won't scam . It seems the ethics in the business is low.
thats the worst thing about the dating sites and internet,, it drives some people barmy more then others.
i have had some classics in my time, and the time involved is not small sadly.
its just part of the learning stage(seeing it very quickly)
Danny... I am happy for you that you have a great wife and a beautiful son. Happiness and good companionship is always priceless.
Kiwi...Can you or anyone else in the forum recommend any good online dating sites. Its good to learn by errors but why go through all these hoops when I have such experienced guys like you on the forum.
Lonleyranger .. I agree Keiv is expensive but who wants girls from Keiv. Majority of them aint any good or they come form small cities and then they get spoiled. Same happens in big cities here in US like California. Girls will come to CA from all over the world, Europe, Asia and other parts of US to make it into films or fashion, etc. They get used and get spoiled. Its the same game everywhere. Big cities are the worst place to find good girls even though exceptions exist.
As far as scammers go, its same in most countries.. If i go to buy a car here in US , the sales guys are so good in their game that if i am not cautious they will scam me. They want to make money in front end (purchase price) and back end (financing). So one has to know the game well. Same goes with girls. I f I am sitting face to face, I just talk and tell them that I understand how the industry works and I hate being scammed . I can say it indirectly or I can be polite and direct. The objective is simple. Don't be attractive to scammers and they will leave you.
At the end it’s not about the girl its about you. If you don't have self control and discipline then you are playing to loose. To play the game with discipline means that you should not be afraid to let her go or loose her. That can be very attractive quality to any girl and at times she may pursue you. But the moment she sees that you will do anything to get her, you cant stay without her, it will turn her off and she will either dump you or take you to cleaners and then dump you. I find this behavior is consistent across cultures. Its always about you.
I will ask all of you to share form your experiences of dating shopping girls, scammer girls what would they have done to avoid such girls or why did you get caught in the trap in first place. That way we all can learn something.
Please feel free to critique me if you don't agree with me.
unona.com is reasonably reputable but I say that only because I know the owner. Its a pay per letter place but they
do offer VIP matchmaking services for guys who actually plan on coming within a reasonable time period. She has the usual problems
such as wanting each office to maximize revenues and then dealing with translators who like to generate lots of letters.
from her perspective its a balancing act. She is in it to make money but doesnt want a bad reputation.
Paulx,,, “Kiev” is expensive for the locals, but I don’t find it to be any more expensive than where I live. Except perhaps for the price of their cars,,, which is unbelievably high,, most other prices are less. Or at least that’s what I have found.
I ignored the city of Kiev for the first two years of my search,,,, then one girl moved there. It will take a heavy duty tow truck to drag her out!!
paulx,,
there isnt any as far as i know.
i think this is the worst part of the search is the endless rubbish one has to sieve through no matter what site you play with.
bloody roller coaster ride really, with this you seem to meet others doing the same thing around the world and comparing with each other you find you are actually sitting in the same leaky boat experiencing the same style of rubbishy water.
i think many must give up in this stage.
as i said its truly a roller coaster ride.
Oh no,
Rick4girl knows an agency owner and he knows that's she in it for the money.
DOH!
Lonely-ranger1701 has written to 'stand your ground'..Huh?
Against what exactly?
A whole corrupt, bullshit system..
At least YOU know that, right, lonely ranger?..
paulx said he has no fear to go after scammers,
Do you really think they would give a fuck about you???..Seriously?...That statement of yours made me laugh..
