Lonely has finally murdered this forum, shooting it down in cold blood with this inane topic. Everyone comes here doesnt look past this first post on the board just move on to relevant sites. I guess it is due as there has been little but petty rantings and feuds here for years!
Durak doesn’t need to leave this thread, there are still many things to discuss,,,, in a civil way.
My views on that video,,, I thought it was extreme too, but I know things aren’t so rosy in countries that have gun control. I posted it for the shock value with danny mostly.
California has many gun laws,,, crime is 9 % higher than Texas. Chicago’s crime rate is much higher after gun control.
We need to take the guns away from criminals, not the ordinary Joe.
NEW YORK – Scientists have gained new insights into an extinct South African creature with an intriguing mix of human and apelike traits, and apparently an unusual way of walking. But they still haven't pinned down where it fits on our evolutionary family tree.
It will take more fossil discoveries to sort that out.
The human branch of the evolutionary tree, called Homo, is thought to have arisen from a group of ancient species called australopithecines. The newly studied species is a member of this group, and so its similarities to humans are enticing for tackling the riddle of how Homo appeared.
It's called Australopithecus sediba (aw-STRAL-oh-PITH-uh-kus se-DEE-bah), which means "southern ape, wellspring." It lived some 2 million years ago, and it both climbed in trees and walked upright.
LR, Danny said on the other thread that he is through with you and me. That should be welcome news. I expressed my doubts. Provoke him and he will definitely continue.
Internal Revenue Service officials in Washington and at least two other offices were involved with investigating conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, making clear that the effort reached well beyond the branch in Cincinnati that was initially blamed, according to documents obtained by The Washington Post.
IRS officials at the agency’s Washington headquarters sent queries to conservative groups asking about their donors and other aspects of their operations, while officials in the El Monte and Laguna Niguel offices in California sent similar questionnaires to tea-party-affiliated groups, the documents show.
Exactly ten days ago, President Barack Obama was piously telling reporters who cover him that free speech and an independent press are “essential pillars of our democracy.” On Monday, the Associated Press accused his administration of undermining that very pillar by secretly obtaining two months’ worth of telephone records of AP reporters and editors.
“We regard this action by the Department of Justice as a serious interference with AP’s constitutional rights to gather and report the news,” AP President and Chief Executive Officer Gary Pruitt wrote in a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder.
The latest revelations are sure to pour fuel on the fire of Republican-driven Richard Nixon comparisons. They come in the wake of revelations that the IRS may have improperly scrutinized the tax-exempt status of conservative, tea party-linked groups. This might, in order words, not be a great time to announce a groundbreaking trip to China.
And the news threatens to pile fresh political woes on a second term already burdened by a painful gun-control defeat, a seemingly stalled economic agenda, and Republican rage at the botched response to the Sept. 12, 2012 terrorist attack that killed four Americans in Benghazi, Libya.
The revelations that the Justice Department may have sought AP phone records drew an angry response from Republican House Speaker John Boehner's office. “The First Amendment is first for a reason. If the Obama Administration is going after reporters’ phone records, they better have a damned good explanation," said Boehner spokesman Michael Steel
The first reaction from the administration of the IRS scandal blamed low level employees in Cincinnati, a city from a battleground state. Maybe they'll find something on the election. Polls showed Romney should have won. The results from many counties from the battleground states were way out of the margin of error. There was one county in Philadelphia where Barack Obama had an unprecedented 100% of the vote. I saw that on network news the day after the election (Not Fox. I don't have cable). I didn't see it on the news since. It's either wrong or ignored by the mainstream media.
Rb,,, I had wondered about that too. Romney had it locked up,, then lost! The storm (Sandy) didn’t help,,, he authorized federal help in a hurry,,,,,, just before the election,,,, but some people are still waiting for it today.
I heard of one precinct that had 150% voter turn out,,, but I don’t remember where it was.
The city of Milwaukee is famous for voter fraud,,,, dead people voting,,, vans picking people up off the street to go vote Democrat for cartons of cigarettes, etc, etc, etc!!
We now have a president and administration that thinks it’s above the law,,, that’s why we must fight to preserve the Constitution.
He still has the right to due process. He effectively silenced the due process with the Fast and Furious. I don't know if he can do that again without harming his popularity.
I don't trust this president. He kicked off his re-election campaign by comparing himself to Ronald Reagan. I have listened to just about all of Ronald Reagan's speeches on YouTube. Many of them, I listened while he was making them years ago. I have several unpublished signed autographs from him. I even saw him twice. There is one thing Barack Obama is not is Ronald Reagan. He is the complete opposite.
He is a master manipulator of data. When the auto industry gained about 1,500 employees, he went in front of the American people and claimed credit for the biggest increase of auto workers in history. Percentage wise, he was correct. But number wise, he was tens of thousands off. No one called him on it. It didn't sound right. I didn't see any big news about auto worker hiring except from the White House. I didn't see any new cars on ads. I found the data on Fact Check a few days later.
I just noticed that congress has another bill to repeal Obamacare on CNN. (I said I don't have cable, but I do - the very basic, or just the local and network channels. They give me CNN). The promise that President Obama gave to lower the premiums are now taking center stage. The healthcare premiums will now skyrocket 288% to 400%. It will be more prevalent later this year. There are thresholds for businesses to lower their costs - part time workers working 29 hours or less, and 49 workers. Businesses will now make sure many workers will not work over 29 hours and many of those with 50 - 60 -70 workers will cut down to 49.

If I had my way,,, he wouldn’t have the right of due process, because he would be in GITMO!
I can’t believe how he tricked the American people,,,, twice!
Excerpts on controlling the people. Compare that to gun control, Benghazi, IRS and the AP invasion of privacy. It's amazing how this applies today.
""the full power of centralized government"—this was the very thing the Founding Fathers sought to minimize. They knew that governments don't control things. A government can't control the economy without controlling people. And they know when a government sets out to do that, it must use force and coercion to achieve its purpose. They also knew, those Founding Fathers, that outside of its legitimate functions, government does nothing as well or as economically as the private sector of the economy."
Excerpts on Soviet Communism:
"We cannot buy our security, our freedom from the threat of the bomb by committing an immorality so great as saying to a billion human beings now enslaved behind the Iron Curtain, "Give up your dreams of freedom because to save our own skins, we're willing to make a deal with your slave masters." Alexander Hamilton said, "A nation which can prefer disgrace to danger is prepared for a master, and deserves one." Now let's set the record straight. There's no argument over the choice between peace and war, but there's only one guaranteed way you can have peace—and you can have it in the next second—surrender."
I cringed decades ago when this "clown", Ronald Reagan in defiance of Congress escalated the arms race. I wondered why he would emerge from a summit with the Soviets on arms control and come up with nothing. Then, near the end of his presidency, he made an agreement. Then, he launched "Star Wars" which he said was not part of the agreement.
Besides his constant badgering of the Soviets, calling them the "evil empire" and so forth, he made jokes about them, making them the laughing stock of the world.
I was a fan of Reagan and it was very sad to see him in decline because of Alzheimer’s near the end. Even in his diminished state,,,, I’d choose him over Obama!!
Rb,,, was it in during GH Bush’s era that we had the “Freshmen Republicans” and their x number of promises in their first 100 days in office? How many of those promises did they keep?
My state had a major wildfire this week up in northern Wis,,, about a six hour drive from my home. We could smell the smoke from here. They put it out in only a couple of days,,, an fantastic achievement. But then I began to think,,,, like a gun hating liberal! Why didn’t they send two guys up to the edge of the fire with two signs??? One that says: “No Smoking” and another that says: “No open fires”?!! Wouldn’t that stop the fire in its tracks???
I think that is the same way gun control will work here!!
The speech I quoted Ronald Reagan was made in 1964, sixteen years before his presidency. He took two principles and ran with it - small centralized government and peace through strength.
LR, all politicians measure their effectiveness in their first 100 days in office, so I don't know. Mit Romney even had his own promises in his first 100 days. GH Bush was not as staunch as Reagan. I was deeply disappointed when he broke his "read my lips" no tax pledge. He did that when businesses started laying off people. The no tax pledge was broken by increasing the luxury tax. Of course, that made the problem worse. The workers for the luxury items laid off more workers.
Bill Clinton used GH Bush broken promise as the cornerstone of his campaign and won. Obama and the liberals used Bill Clinton's robust economy to prove that liberal policies work. Clinton presided at the birth of the internet. A whole new segment of the economy was created - the internet. You could credit him for that, and Al Gore tried and failed. In the beginning, just the name of certain dot coms were sold for millions. Sex.com took the record, selling for $16 million. All of that was a bubble and GW Bush inherited a relatively small recession.
Ronald Reagan inherited an economic mess from Jimmy Carter. It was much like what Obama inherited. Their cure is the same. Spend your way to prosperity. The big difference is much of Obama's spending is borrowed mostly from China. During the Carter Administration, more money was printed, causing widespread inflation.

Obama inherited a bad economy, caused a bi- partisan real estate crisis. Ronald Reagan's cure was the opposite as evidenced by his first State of the Union address.

Reagan's policy resulted in the longest economic recovery in history. At the end of Reagan's presidency, the recovery continued and inflation was down.
Sorry, it isn't CNN I have, it is CSPAN. I watch the congressional sessions.
These proceedings on the IRS are looking more and more like the presidential election was stolen. It is important to state that no one has directly claimed that yet. Throughout the election, we were told that Ohio was a key state. Win Ohio and you win the presidency. Maybe it isn't that simple, but Ohio is definitely a very important state if you want to win the presidential election.
The IRS started targeting conservative groups in Ohio on their tax exempt status in 2010. The former IRS chief declined to name those who were involved. "I don't know." Questions asked were to provide their Twitter, Facebook records, what books have they read and what is your relationship with so and so (members of the tea party). Some firms were approved on their tax exempt status a few months after the election.
