All 43 smirked and corrected my mentioned caliber (9mm was most popular although some suggested .38, and a few 6mm because I look young & gullible), but when I insisted on 8mm they threw their hands up in the air and said "No, we don't have that, in fact we've never even heard of it!". Of course that was not enough for me, I got some yellow pages and phoned more shops, out of town this time. Funny though, ALL said the same - so now I can look knowledgable and tell you. What Thunder is saying if you are not real familiar or do not care about technical stuff is that each millimeter (mm) is approximately .04 or 4/100 of an inch. A 7 mm is .284 inch or 28 caliber and 8mm is .323 inch or 32 caliber. A US 7.62 mm is a .308 inch or 30 caliber with most other 7.62 mms being .310 inch. So when you call your gun a T33 caliber and a 7.62mm it is a contradiction. I think your gun is a model TT33 Russian 7.62 mm Tokarev Pistol. It incorporated improvements in 1933 to the TT30 Russian 7.62 mm Tokarev Pistol produced in 1930. http://www.5rar.asn.au/weapons/tokarev.htm So rather than being a 33 caliber it is a model TT33 named for the year it was built. Maybe hold it up to your eye and look down the barrel and see how the bulet sits in there. Maybe give the trigger a little tug as you look down the barrel (this is key - must mess with it while you look with eye down the barrel) and give that trigger a nice hard tug (to see if it sticks). Maybe fire it while holding it up to your ear (you can hear best if barrel is turned directly toward your ear) and pull trigger. We look forward to a full report after you have test fired it toward your head a few times.
