OK. You guys are getting me all wrong. I only acknowledged that there is still racism. It can be blacks not getting a job or getting arrested, or white people not getting a job. I have been stopped and the officer said that the only reason he stopped me was because my buddy, who was black was in the car looked suspicious.
I also believe that "reverse discrimination", which is discrimination is more prevalent nowadays. That is, minorities getting better treatment because they are minorities. One of the cable channels I abhor the most is Black Entertainment Network. Imagine what would happen if there was a White Entertainment Network. How about Black History month?
Mr. Black Power, you are out of line. I never said anything about getting rid of white people. I am an Asian and my first two wives were Asian. This time, I hope to marry a Ukrainian.
By the way, not on this forum but on others, I am a big opponent of President Obama. This is not because of his race, but his movement of America towards socialism.
I thought I could stay out of this...
Prince Albert. I wanted to applaud you for your message. However, people in other parts of the world don't have a clue what an African-American is. If you move to the Ukaine will you become an African-Ukrainian? It irks me. Ragingbull is correct. And imagine how much it annoys me when I fill out a job application and there is no box to check for Irish-American. And so it goes. Lighten up - no pun intended.
As for Obama... I can't stand him and what he is doing to ruin our country. We are in a world of trouble. It makes my wonder why you have to take a test to drive a car and yet all you have to able to do is to put an 'X' on the line and have a witness to register to vote. And then you can vote!!!!! America, what a great country. We are so going down the shitter is no longer amusing.
About Obama, he is the lesser of the evils. I would have moved to Canada if Hillary Clinton were elected to the presidency. I hate the Clintons and all that they stand for. Career criminals both of them.
And Albert, do not assume all have not a clue about racism. There are some well educated people using this forum.
I recommend that the moderator just remove this whole thread.
I wish I had stayed out of this, but.... I already explained. Sorry, Julian, you want this thread removed, but I need to continue.
If the subject of race comes up, the black race, the white race, the brown race, that's alright. But the hyphenated nationality bothers me. Ukrainian-American? Russian American? Asian American? African American?......
If you are born in the United States or took the oath to be an American citizen,
Why don't you go find Bear and argue with him, Martin. If your arguing with him belongs here, so does this. The subject evolved because I was accused by Gecko of blaming all my problems on white people.
It's not only racism, but an overt attack on the Culture. With the leftist movement they look at every conservative is evil. What seems to be neglected is the United States didn't create slavery, but they sure as hell ended it. Frederick Douglass was first uncle tom, who stressed education as the way to freedom.
I'm not arguing with anybody, not even the idiot you mention, I was merely pointing out that a topic of FSU dating sites and ladies, are they racist or not, is becoming a US politics slanging match ..... again!
So much posturing, "I'm white and I'm not racist." "I know what racism is and I ain't it." "I have black friends." "I have dated black girls." "The liberals or conservatives are responsible racism and for duplicating it over and over.
So you say you understand racism. Have you experienced it first hand?
The question remains, "Is Elena's models a racist site?" I think you would have to prove a pattern of Elena's not displaying profiles of other races, not interpreting or delivering letters. If it's the girls who are not responding does not make Elena's racist only that the individual girl may be racist at worst, at best she is simply not attracted to him.
This thread has continued to have legs because everyone does not wish to be labeled a racist.
I was born racist and raised racist. Any school friends of another race were not allowed on our property. In the coal fields, a black man could only gain respect by the amount of work he could do i.e. how many tons of coal could he load by hand a day. Playing sports, I had many teammates who were black. My father would not
come see me play. Yes, I was raised racist. I struggle with it everyday. The first step is to admit to racist behavior, to racist jokes, to admit discomfort in the company of other races and to be honest with yourself and others. Admitting to the thoughts and feelings you have grown up with all your life is the first step in overcoming them. O.K. I leave it to you to take a word or a phrase out of context and beating me over the head with it.
Good point, Texasdude. Noone wants to be called a racist. I got into this by wondering why I was not getting letters from AOB, when I used to get an average of ten daily. I could not think of a reason why. I thought it might have been racism, but Hulahand pointed out a possible explanation.
Then, California Albert comes up with a holier than thou attitude and said if it's racist, I just let it bounce my chest and move on to the next success. I did that. I have a girlfriend. I don't need the letters. I just wanted a possible explanation other than racism. Thanks, Hulahand.
I can't figure out what you're trying to insinuate but if I do not communicate one on one with another then I cannot possibly be involved in arguing with 'another'!
I think that most of the men who come to this forum, are looking for some happiness in this world.
I guess that for some of the folks here, the pissing contests that go on here almost every day are a kind of sport. For me, they are really, really boring. If the moderator would delete every post with personal criticism and sniping, it would be a much better forum.
I would be really happy to receive support and advice in my quest. I would be really happy if I could offer support or advice to another man on his quest.
When I was a boy, people often said, "if you don't have something nice to say, don't say it." I don't think we should "make nice" here, but I hope that every posting I make can be truly useful and constructive, for at least one person. And when I disagree with a post, there is no need for me to insult or criticize the man who wrote it.
As to the topic (attentive readers will notice that I try to keep my posts on topic), I am a completely European-looking subscriber to elenasmodels, and up to the present, I have no information to suggest that there's anything racist about the site. They do have a "slot" in the profile for ethnic preference, which you can fill in or leave empty.
I suspect (no real data on this, just guesswork) that on some websites, women receive many contacts from men from the middle east, south Asia, etc., when they are looking (perhaps for economic, cultural, ethnic or religious reasons) for men from the West. Once in a while I see profiles that say emphatically, "No muslims!" If I read this right, it may explain why some websites offer a place to express ethnic preference.
On the general topic of racism, I admit my own racist feelings (thanks Texasdude for your honesty). I believe that as a member of the "visual majority," (when I walk down the street, I pretty much fit in with the other crackers), I can never fully understand the experience of people who within 1 second of being seen are placed into a category of "other". I can try to imagine this, and I do try, but I can't know it fully.
My country (USA) is possibly the most advanced in the world at coming to terms with the problems of racism. (This is not a brag, and I am absolutely not a believer in "American superiority." I was actually startled when America's comparative success at dealing with the issue was pointed out to me, by a very thoughtful dark-skinned immigrant from Africa.) To the extent that this is true, when I go to other countries, I am going "backwards" with respect to enlightened thinking about racial prejudice, tolerance, etc. I wrote in some detail about this on another topic on this forum.
In Russia and Ukraine, I have personally heard (numerous times) natives make comments, without any sign of embarrassment, that would be considered at least startling or rude in the USA, if not downright repulsive. And the people who made these comments were really polite, well-educated people. I would compare it with America two or three generations ago -- we've made some real progress since then.
This is not to say that everyone in Ukraine is a bigot! This is absolutely not true. But it is true that a former KKK leader (he held the exalted title of "grand dragon"), who is widely and deeply despised in America, has in the past 10 years received a very warm welcome in Ukraine and Russia, and enjoyed good sales of one of his books of bigoted filth translated into Russian.
So in my opinion, it's not about people being any better or worse in the FSU. It happens that in America, and to a lesser extent in other countries of the West, there has been a lot of confrontation, soul-searching, controversial court cases, etc. about racial issues -- and this history has resulted in a heightened awareness. In most countries, the awareness is a lot less.
What any individual of color may experience over there, I can't predict. I know that when I think about traveling to the FSU with someone who looks very non-European, I am anxious that they could have a bad experience. In a little over 3 months that I have spent (cumulatively) exploring cities of Russia and Ukraine, I have seen perhaps 7 or 8 black (obviously African) men, most of whom were plainly from the USA. Being black there would certainly help you stand out in the crowd :
I am very interested in learning more about the experiences of non-European-looking men in the FSU. Good luck to all!
