Hi all, Hoping to go to the Ukraine in about 5 weeks from now. For those who didn't know Lutsk is in the North-West, off the tourist path.
Anyway my question is, How long do Visa applications usually take? Im in the U.K. if it helps to answer my little question.
Again thanks to those who left a little info last time around.
Visa for you for Ukraine?
You pay for it upon landing there.
Visa for her to you in the UK?
Ask your immigration dept, but several other British are here, just scream "Glaaaaddieee!!!" :)
However, if you still have to meet her I'd do that first, seeing is believing I'm sure you'll also believe.
Hi thunder
Are you saying that getting a Visa & Invitation in advance is not needed for British Citizens ???
I am in the process of obtaining a Scottish Passport - I am eligible for one as my father was born there. (I am a New Zealand Citizen)
Could you clarify more on the Visa requirements for Ukraine. Going there late June.
a New Zealand accent mixed with Scottish? Jeez man, forget women, nobody will understand you :))
I am in the understanding that Ukraine lets anyone pass, or rather will issue a visa (just pay) to anyone entering. In fact it's here somewhere on this forum, not too old either, just cannot remember the thread it was in.
By all means pre-organize it, I would in nay case, but if you like tripping just go and see where you'll end up.
I believe Jmo is or was there recently, he could tell I'm sure.
Yes it looks like Visa required for all persons arriving. Invitation letter not needed for Euro citz. So my Scottish PPort will waive this requirement, I think ??.
Trying to decipher the MANY WWW sites offering info and services on such topics. Trouble is most site are USA origin. They seem to overlook the fact that other countries have people interested in visiting Russia – Ukraine.
"Entry/Exit Requirments
A passport valid for six months beyond the planned date of travel is required. In addition, all travelers to Ukraine must have a valid single- or multiple-entry visa before arriving in the country. A visa may be obtained from the Consular Office of the Embassy of Ukraine in Washington, D.C. or from Ukrainian Consulates General in New York, Chicago and San Francisco. Careful attention should be paid to the validity dates of Ukrainian visas."
Taken from http://www.abriggs.com/high_level/FER_U/Ukraine_FER.php however tailored for US citizens.
I suppose I did Deanis, never been to either myself.
jpj,
You must have your Ukrainian visa in hand when you land there. You cannot purchase one when you arrive . So dont even think about it. I just contacted my source on your behalf. They are www.ukraine-visa .com or www.russia-visa.com same business which most men on this site will tell you they are pretty damn efficient and quick. He said they only service customers from the UK , AMERICA, AND CANADA. The longer you wait to place your order the more expensive it gets when you start running out of business days to have it sent back to you. Also be smart and make sure you order a double entry visa for an extra 10 dollars . That way you do not have top pay the full amount of i think 149 dollars to go back again . You will already have it. So my cost was 159 dollars.
They also said that the only location they have ever known of where you could pay for your visa upon arrival in the Ukraine was the city of Odessa only. But he said he thinks that was just experimental only. Better have it in hand .
jpj:
slight correction to the above here....YOU CAN get a visa on arrival but ONLY in Odessa for some strange reason known only to the Ukranian Government. For all other ports of arrival you MUST obtain your visa in the usual way from the Consulate in London.
Processing time takes about 10 working days and costs are as follows:
single entry visa £30+10(admin costs)
double entry visa £80+10(admin costs)
there are other visas available too such as multi-entry,and those prices were correct at the time of my last application in November.
The relevant contact info you need is below hope that helps a little, feel free to e-mail me if I can help more.......gladiator.

I would guess at it being an approximate conversion to local currency jmo,
which at current rates is about 5 gryvnia to the dollar (US) and about 9 gryvnia to the pound (sterling).
Unfortunately none of the Ukranian embassy websites seem to be able to clarify that!
If you read some of the older posts you will find answer to your last question...
What will you find???! Heaven on earth for a man, that is what you can expect!!
Mans paradise :)))
I am also due to fly out to Odessa at the end of April just in time for the Ukrainian Easter celebrations.
In connection with your visa application i had to apply for a visa support document from the hotel i will be staying at. I had to wire $45 in order to obtain this through Western Union. Then i received by fax the document which was stamped by the hotel with my name, date of birth and passport details shown.
I have also applied for a double entry visa as i plan to visit Kiev again for the Eurovision song contest.
I was told the visa would take up to 14 days to process.
