Guys I have done a search on the forum archives and there is nothing about this city. Can anybody give me some practical advice. Looks like I am going in August or September.
And now Izi would like to say something about himself:-
I am intelligent, calm, kind, merry, loyal, with a good sense of humour. I love outdoor activities and being in the nature with friends. I know English a bit. My preferable partner is a kind, merry, intelligent, honest, responsible woman, with a good sense of humour.
izi, Chlyabinsk is located in South Ural in a very picturesque mountain area. there are a lot of beautiful places that attract climbers and travelers. montains are rather old there, some of them are easy to climb. there are a lot beaituful lakes there. if your lady arranges a car you may go there. Lake Zuratkul is a national park. it is about 700 meters above the sea level.
look for some pictures

Thanks Nadya but I wasn't anricipating any mountain climbing. I actually had several other things in mind. Looks like we are going to spenda week in St Petersburg after an intitial trip to Chelyabinsk to meet family.
I am having real problems booking a flight and outrageous prices for an apartment. $50 to $65 a night. In Chelybinsk for gods sake?
It is looking like I will have to completely play this by ear.
Ft Lauderdale to JFK, then to Moscow. Change to SVO1 and buy a ticket on the spot for Chelybinsk. God help me.
One more time about the transfer SVO2 to SVO1. When I did it last month I tried the FREE Aeroflot bus. It was perfect. Plenty of room, quick, easy, and free. It pulls up just behind the yellow mini bus on the lower level. I think they run every 10 or 15 minutes. Easier to get on than the mini bus too.
