I never said that the agency was in the wrong. All I said was that the agency used subterfuge to lure a man who was naive about such things to come and meet a woman. This is the business that the agency is in.
Galina is also in the business of ensuring the comfort and security of her clients, and of this I have no complaints whatsoever. The 200 euro I felt was sprung on me. I have said that it was perhaps my misunderstanding of the contract at the time.
I said at the start of this whole post that I needed to know what actually happened to me in Kerch.
I’m not talking about the agency. I’m talking about the relationship between L and me. A relationship which I see as intitially being manufactured by the agency and then broken by the agency.
L gave me her phone number the first day. She later gave me her email address and home address.
When I left Kerch I had resigned myself to never seeing her again, because by then I knew the score. This coupled with the fact that she did not come to the airport with me. She later told me that she did not want to come to the airport for her own reasons. I accepted this at the time.
I texted L for the last timefrom the car and she texted straight back saying she did not want to say goodbye and that we would meet in Kiev as planned. Over the following weeks we emailed, sent texts and spoke almost every day.
Looking back I started to convince myself that L was sincere.
I believed that L had met at least one man before, but I also believe that the feelings she had for me….well that just wasn’t meant to happen. It wasn’t part of the arrangement.
I have, since my return, read much about Russian women (L is actually Russian) and I have read that once a Russian woman has feelings for you she lets you know in no uncertain terms. Believe me I know that L had feelings for me. That’s why I said before; L is the most fantastic woman I ever met.
I envy any of you guys who are on the receiving end of the treatment you get when a Russian woman really likes you.
That said; I don’t believe any feelings she had could survive much longer with the more urgent needs on her hands at the time. this is only conjecture but I am left with these scenarios.
1. She had another man lined up by the agency and saw this as an opportunity to make some more money.
2. She decided that I was not going to send her any money and that she should give me up as a dead loss.
3. I’m just one gigantic loser who can’t see a holiday romance for what it was and just move on to the next one.
Answers on a postcard please.
Either way I have decided in my own mind that should I ever see L again, the lies and deception I encountered from L and the agency will not make for a very honest and meaningful relationship.
You guys got my curiosity up: The 200 Euros is posted on the Ukrainian women site at http://www.ukrainianwomen.com/Pages/MeetingWithLady.html This does appear to purchase meetings with 5 different women if you so desire. Still seems strange to me to purchase a meeting with a lady that you have already been corresponding with but hey that is just me.
Martin_FFC I've no idea what your talking about. As far as I am aware I had a personal relationship with her which developed further when I met her and then fell flat some months after I went home.
Land of oz; I can't read the link you sent and even starting at the main page I still don't see this charge.
It comes down to this: I book apartment and transport belonging to the agency. Nice apartemnt reasonable prices. I am then hit with 200 euro for meeting a lady who I have been in correspondence with for 4 months. She is not on the agency website and I met her through another dating site.
End of story. As far as I'm concerned "marriage agencies" are in the business of extracting cash from westerners pockets.
The agency places girls profile on the big sites, trawling for prospective clients.
The agency writes the letters. The only time it was ever neccesary for L to turn up at the agency was when I was to phone her. This would also give L the opportunity to see my photo so that she would recognise me at the airport.
I know this for a fact because L exposed the whole thing to me just recently.
It took me a while to find the 200 euro charge but if you go on their home page there is a red bar on top with links right below that on the right hand side it says "important note" and under that it says "meeting with lady" underlined, that is the link to the page.
It says this is for ladies on their site. If you met her somewhere else and brought her to their site and she was not one of their ladies then I agree they screwed you either by mistake or on purpose. In essence you introduced her to them and then they charged you 200 euros to introduce her back to you. Seems like a profitable enough deal.
And like I said in another post, I would not go to visit a lady if I did not have her contact info. You are as likely to be scammed by an agency as you are by the woman herself. Not to say anything against any particular agency but when money is involved the greedy seem to get their hand in it. Like everything else you learn with experience.
I understand what you mean now. Yes the contract. That would be the one foisted on me when I got there.
I did have her contact info before I left..or so I thought. Turned out to be the address of the agency.
I actually bought some of the gifts from the agency website. Guess where they were sent to?
What a joke. (On me of course)
