Moya,,, I have IE-10 with reg google. I’ve opened PDFs before and I have the newest free adobe program.
The link is there,,, I see it on the top of the screen, but it will not download or open, I just get a white screen. Sometimes if a website has a lot of info,, it takes more time to download and I sometimes “refresh” if the downloading stops. This site won’t refresh?
It could also be my security program won’t let it download,,, but I didn’t get any warnings,,, however, when I click back to this page I get a ghost image for a split second. A faint red box on the screen,,, which I have always assumed was some type of malware. Since I tried Rb’s link,,, the computer said it was running slow and asked if I still wanted to continue running “scripts”? No!
I found a link that all Americans should visit,, it tells about our IRS and the new measures they are using to get back taxes, and tax payer info.
Rb,,,, I agree about the fraud that such a loophole like this would cause, but criminals always find a way.
If your link says that such a loophole exists for immigrants and small businesses like hotels,, then what I said is true.
Most of the time,, men do everything possible to keep their business and property away from their wives,,, I can’t see many men selling or handing over their business to avoid paying taxes.
LR, the link is an IRS document. I am not sure what program it is, but it is similar to PDF. Your computer must have lacked the resources to open it. Sometimes files are deleted to enable opening such documents.
"I can’t see many men selling or handing over their business to avoid paying taxes."
The goal is to find a wife which you would trust so you can. Marriage is 50-50; not hand over but share.
There is no loophole, LR. Uncle Sam will get his money. There is no incentive for Uncle Sam to give up that right to immigrants.
lonelyranger,
Some years back I owned a small store that I sold to some Korean immigrants. As soon as people knew I was selling to them, everyone said the same thing, "they don't pay taxes!!". Even the men who delivered to the store said that our government allows immigrants to not pay taxes for four or five years when they buy a business, and they were quite mad about it. As far as I can see, this is nothing but another urban legend as I, nor anyone that I have ever known has been able to come with any concrete proof or law stating such. If there such a law, I would really like to see it. It is just like that other urban legend that a company gets a tax break for moving jobs overseas. Romney called Obama out on that one in one of the debates when he said that he had not heard of such a law in his 25 years of business. Besides, I don't see how a no tax law would help anyone as one who buys or starts a business will not owe any taxes for the first four or five years because of all of the writeoffs and deductions available to them.
I found a site that would be worth reading even if you weren’t looking for something. The “State of the Union” transcripts from all of the Presidents. I’ve read GW Bush’s 2001 thru 2003 transcripts so far,,,, and no, I have not found it,,, yet,,, but I’ll read a few more tomorrow night.
Interesting. Of all the presidents only Ronald Reagan has the transcripts of all his speeches on the internet. Look on YouTube for the State of the Union Addresses.
I believe the only president I did not see do a speech since Truman was LBJ. I didn't look too hard. The speeches available for each president since then are the Republican National Convention acceptance speech.
"No,,, Uncle Sam doesn’t give anything away,,, but he hopes to get a return on his investment."
But he didn't. You have not proved it. I have. Everything you need to prove or disprove me should be in that publication. (Publication 334, Small Business Tax.) I told you that was easy reading. But you claimed it doesn't open. The IRS makes sure that is an easy document to open so they wouldn't have to answer too many questions. They answer all serious questions 1-800-829-1040. You can even order these publications and they will mail a hard copy to you without charge. Just call that number. Many of their functions are automated such as ordering the publication are automated.
That would create such a loophole and enforcement problems. People trying to fudge their tax payments can claim that tax credit. The IRS would have another division checking whether or not someone really is an immigrant. Some would have gotten through and later charged with evasion of taxes because he claimed he was an immigrant but he was in fact a citizen.
Take your time, but how are you going to disprove business taxes as opposed to Publication 334? Citizens and immigrants who own a business use and must abide by that publication. What argument can there be against the IRS publication?
Wineman,,,, I’m not just trying to prove the law exists,,, but that I heard it,,, “officially“.
I remember something about that tax break dispute between Romney and Obama during the debate. That line: “No more tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas” comes out of every Democrats’ mouth within the first minute of every speech,, of every campaign. Yet no one had ever checked on it before??!
Is it possible that I heard a lie?? Sure,,,, but I’m quite sure that I heard Bush say it,,,, and not as a campaign promise,,,, because he was not fighting for it,, he was defending it,,,, something that had already taken place.
Rb,,, I still am unable to download that document,,, but I’ll take your word on it! Just say there is nothing in that (one) document about immigrants and tax loopholes,,,,,,,,, so what? Only one document,,, out of how many?? Has this document been revised,,, replaced, amended?? Without seeing it, I am unable to dispute anything about it. Many times there will be a list of exceptions to the rules,,, but I am no tax expert,,, I send mine out to an accountant to be done!!
Moya,,, I also have Mozilla Firefox,,, but I don’t like it. I had problems with IE-9 and looked for something better and found Firefox. I was able to copy my list of favorites from IE-9 to Firefox when I downloaded the program,,, but the next time I wanted to use it, my favorites were gone.
I think my problems are the connection speed. I am paying for a mobile 3g/4g hotspot, about 54USD per month,, but my actual speed is less than dial up at times. The next time I go to a larger city I will try to download IRS 334 on a 4g system. My two year contract is up this fall,,, I might contact the company to get the exact hour of day I can cancel it??

I hope you realize that what we were talking about and that statement are two different things. Here is what you wrote, what I thought we were talking about, and what I said is not true.
"Immigrants are given an incentive to buy a business, by not having to pay taxes on it for several years,,,, 4 years I think?."
During the presidential town hall debate, President Obama did say something like your quote up there, “No more tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas” Up to then, he included it in his speeches. Romney replied that he has been in business for a long time and he doesn't know what the heck he was talking about. The president did not answer and has not included it in his speeches since.
A job is shipped overseas in two ways that I can think of:
1) An American has to go overseas in order to do his work. In this case, the company still has to pay payroll taxes: social security, federal taxes, state taxes, state disability insurance and so forth. Even though he is out of the country, the company still have to pay state taxes to the employee's home state.
2) A job is outsourced. Jobs I can think of are call center. I had a new Lenovo laptop from Best Buy about a year ago. I needed help in setting it up, so I called support. A man from Philippines answered and was very knowledgeable about the product. It is as if he was in the US. I would not have known if I had not asked. I notices a slight accent.
There are no tax breaks in the first situation. The job is eliminated in the second situation and is replaced by foreign workers. American corporations "enjoy" the highest corporate tax in the industrialized world. One of the things the Republicans want are to lower this tax in order for American companies to better compete.
A law prohibiting the second example would not be constitutional. It would clearly inhibit free enterprise. This is what American companies are resorting to. We will see more of this in the future. American companies are faced with laws on minimum wage, American payroll taxes and now, Obamacare.
Obamacare is huge. It is and will be a major expense of the American company. It will be the reason of whether or not to start a company, hire workers or pack up and forget it. Up to now, when the profit is there, the American company has provided healthcare. Now, they have to be provided whether the profit is there or not.
Yet, many Democrats still blame Bush for the economic troubles we are in. Blame Bush if you must for the Real Estate crisis. He was in charge. But, he cannot take all the blame. It was President Clinton who signed the law that got the ball rolling. Congress - Republican and Democrat went along with it, the fed endorsed it, businesses took advantage and the American people invested in it in hopes of making a higher profit.
