Diana Spencer was descended from an aristocratic lineage. She is distantly related to Winston Churchill and was reported to have descended from lovers of King Charles II and James II. She is also distantly related to several US Presidents. She likely has more royal blood in her genes than does her former husband, Prince Charles.
The long time connection between Camilla and Charles has been well known before he married Diana. He was smitten with her and just married Diana out of convenience and royal obligations. When you are smitten with "Helen of Troy", no one else really matters.
Yes, the horseface was already married, as the heir to the throne he had been shagging a married woman and more recently his younger brother ... Well perhaps best we don't go there :)
But if and when he ever comes to the throne the majority of the British public shall still despise horseface whilst they all pretty much respect William, if in the main for his mother and not his father, I think general opinion is that when QE2 curls up her toes they'd like William to be next and to hell with Charles.
But Diana knew what she was getting in to, she knew that he was shagging horseface, she knew that he was with her on the eve of their wedding, she knew that she was little more than a baby making machine.
And as for Charles's father and the singer Sandie Shaw .....

I saw a documentary about the House of Windsor (AKA Hanover and Saxe-Coburg and Gotha). Tsar Nicholas II was expecting his cousin the ruler in the UK to provide refuge after abdicating the throne. The ruler at that time, George V, was uncertain about helping his cousin. Eventually, he backed off and took the offer to allow Nicholas and his family to come to the UK "off the table" because of the possible negative publicity of doing so and a possible backlash by the UK public against the monarchy. A descendant of the Romanov dynasty found personal letters sent between the cousins which revealed that George decided to "abandon" Nicholas.
The other cousin, Kaiser Wilhelm II, also was mentioned in another documentary. When Hitler was going around taking territory from neighboring countries, the Kaiser wrote to Hitler congratulating him on his expansion of German domination and that he hoped it would result in the restoration of the German monarchy. Hitler read the letter and supposedly replied that the Kaiser was an idiotic old man.
Very true. Hitler was always trying to get Austria into the Nazi regime. Since Austria spoke a language very similar to Germany, he thought of all of these countries as being "soul brothers". He used the same explanation regarding the annexation of the Sudetenland. And the Alsace-Lorraine annexation prior to World War I. This is the same ploy used by all other countries when they claim "sovereignty" over disputed territories (such as Kashmir). Technically, all life forms on this planet probably came from some other part of the universe, so nobody has any rights to anything on this planet!
Something that I learned from an Austrian airline Captain that previously worked with me was that Austria was supposed to have been in the USSR and/or a communist state.
Apparently the Russians were so confident that it was what the Austrian people wanted rather than take the country by force they put it to a public vote and, to their surprise, the vote went the other way although it was a close run thing.
Just found and read this while watching a Falklands war programme on youtube, this guy was based at RAF Lakenheath, I was based not so far away at Eastern Radar, RAF Watton, the Yanks couln't have flown without our radar unit being there and on our nights out to RAF's Lakenheath & Mildenhall it was like we were in both Royal and United States Air Force's, there was always a warm welcome awaiting us, the beer flowed well and nobody had a problem being called a Yank or a Limey:

Huge respect from the USA. We are so glad you are our allies! I have always admired her Majesties military as a rapid, prepared, and lethally effective fighting force. I had the privilege of being stationed at RAF Lakenheath for several great years, and loved every second of it. This Yank will always respect the UK and their people. We are brothers. Together, we are invincible.
