A big hi to everyone..........as some of you know I am a relative newcomer to this forum althoguh not a newcomer to searching the FSU for a future bride.
However from today all that has changed.
Earlier today I was the happy recipient of an SMS from my lady after her interview at the British Embassy in Kiev regarding her visa application.Briefly it said that the interview had been a complete success and she had been granted her visa to come here to the UK.
The feeling is a little hard to describe......happy?.........yes.......excited?.......of course, but deep down a real sense of achievement.I first started looking towards the FSU about 4 years ago now,and during that time I have had my disappointments...(who hasn't?),but after a very pleasant visit to Kharkov this year I KNEW this lady was the one for me.I can't put this into words but beleive me when it happens guys you WILL KNOW....(smile).
Yes it has cost quite a lot of money.........some of which has been chasing dead ends but the outcome has a happy ending for me so as far as I am concerned job done.
I can now start to plan a New Year wedding...........(OUCH more expense!!),forgive the rambling but I just wanted to share a very happy moment with you all.
Dreams can come true.......keep the hope alive........good luck and god bless to everyone.
PS.
As a closing statement,if anyone wants any advice at all, please feel free to mail me,and if I can help in any way I will.
Congratulations!! 4 years ouch for me, tell me how long have you been corresponding with the lady you have meet? I today received an email from a lady whome was the reason I signed up for this ( her photo) site. We have exchanged 8 letters and has told me she is nolonger goin to correspond with other men. This certainly put a smile on my face. I feel pretty lucky to come out of the gate and ahead. Again it is great to hear of your success and good fortune. Smiling back at ya,

congatulations gladiator, that does give us hope yet.
Wally j, i would be a little suspicious of yours though, i have had that myself a few times now, and i think a lot of us have. Good luck to you mind, it is just i can't see how a woman can be reassured after just 8 letters
Thanks guys,as you have gathered, the reason for this post was to show the brighter side of the "dating game",and that is what is does feel like sometimes.
There are lots of ups and downs......but thats life. The point being that perseverence is the key.Must admit though that after 4 years it was geting increasingly harder to keep a positive attitude.
Wally.....in answer to your question,I have been corresponding with Inna only 4 months.Something about the way she wrote her letters made me sit up and take real notice. We spoke on the phone frequently...(at least as often as the Ukranian telephone lines stayed crackle free long enough!!!!).
Gut instinct told me to move fast, and I arranged to visit as soon as I could.
When I arrived at Borispol Airport (Kiev),the first time I saw Inna,my knees went weak....:)),she was even more lovely than her photos, and the happiness she felt was tangible.
Don't forget that there are many men who write to these ladies for fun.......(sad but true),and so many of these ladies are sincere in their wishes to find someone. They have a lot of false starts too,and speaking from personal experience, keeping the motivation going is the hardest part.As for feeling reassured after 8 letters only you can decide that.
One little thing that has helped us has been being able to keep in contact every day.........yes every day!!!......and no I am not loaded.:)),my lady has a cell phone and we have been able send SMS to each other daily.
Usually if you know the phone provider and visit their website, most(not all)provide a free sms service to their subscribers. And I know from my lady that seeing SMS from me made her so happy.Speak to her when you can, write often, and decide for yourself.Nobody here can do that for you.......all we can do is advise, hopefully it helps.....but the final decision is YOURS.Good luck.
Thanks to chrish too....glad to have spread a little cheer.
And Chip.........am I surprised to see your name giving the last word???.......nope but thanks to you too buddy, keep the posts prolific,it is reassuring to us all.........:))
I bought a phone while there (Ukraine)for about $100 and got it activated. Then I just buy phone cards to recharge my minutes just like all the ladies do. It is now my Ukrainian phone. When I go back I still have the same number and just buy phone cards as needed. It's priceless to have and cheap. Other option is to have a GSM capable phone from your home that is UNLOCKED. You then will have to buy a SIM card for the Ukraine system and buy phone cards to recharge minutes.
Here is a question for someone... my girlfriend gets charged 'tariffs' even when I call her. Now I can get pre-paid cards and access codes for her to call me for free, but the question still comes back to the tariffs! Any way around them?

Chrish......if only I did look like Russell Crowe!!!!.....:))),about the phone....I use Vodafone(UK),and my lady uses UMC,which is the biggest cellphone company in Ukraine, they do NOT charge for receiving calls....although I think some do...Kievstar springs to mind here, but I am not totally sure about that.Anyhow,I have had absolutely no problems at all crossing networks internationally. And as a further bonus,UMC also have a website that allow free SMS to their subscribers...(thrifty or what???)
Deanis.....yuor point is valid too,but you don't have to buy another phone..just purchase another SIM card for use in Ukraine, providing your phone is UNLOCKED there won't be any problems there either.
And NO I am not living in Russia..still here in the UK....and from an earlier post I read on here almost a nieghbour of Chrish....I live in Liverpool by the way.The reason for the front.ru domain is that I can keep a huge amount of info there as they offer a FREE 20mb mailbox......somewhat more generous than either Hotmail(2mb)or Yahoo(6mb)
Chip....couldn't leave you out buddy.:)),yep usually find mobiles are much clearer than landlines too, however that is not too difficult when you see that state of the telephone system still in -place in most of the FSU!!!
KR.....really don't know why your lady is getting charged, are you calling mobile to mobile?......if so I would contact your own phone company.
I'll leave the other three identical questions for Chip, to have the last word!!!
What a guy! No way around tariffs, that is government charged to help rebuild the telephone infrastructure. That is th esame as the connection fees charged here. Oh yes, i know they say no fees, but they make an extra few bucks, believe me! You pick up the phone, you get a tariff. The only way i can think of around that is buy her a satellite world phone and pay the bill yourself. Either that or use smoke signals.
