Interesting experiences on flight to chisinau. Meet a guy in check in line. Our conversation was uncanny, we started talking about trips which led to eastern europe. He LIVES in Nikolaev, has a commercial real estate business in Ukraine, he is american and told me much of his business, very interesting. He is is engaged to a ukrainian girl, I didn't talk money to him but he was going to take his girlfriend to Italy to look for an engagement ring, so i know he is doing very well, going to stay in touch with him. Luckily, which never happens to me, a very pretty german girl sat next to me on plane. She lives in LA and is going home to visit. Well, she made that 11 hour flight very pleasent and I think we will get together back home. Flights all went as planned and first snag was at airport in chisinau. We arrived at same time as flight from turkey, bad news!!! For me an hour to go through customs as green lane was closed and all had to go through checking...looking in all bags. I was concerned about gifts I had with me, will they ask for $$$. I was lucky in some sense because since my flight was from Franfurt, I didn't have them empty my luggage on table. Some bags they were going through with fine tooth comb. I heard afterward that many people bring back items from turkey and sell here to make money. Tired first night, just got my apt , and a friend from Chisinau showed me around where everything was, so I am familiar, tomorrow will be much sightseeing in city centre and to start my meeting up with girls. I did much walking in downtown area. I did notice the ease in reading signs here as compared to ukraine. Mostly russian spoke here but have heard romanian also, since based from latin I do recognize some words. Spent day with one girl, quite attractive, her english was good. First time to meet a girl with a child. He is nice little boy. We went shopping.....I mean looking in stores. I can't believe prices of things, comprable to US. Another thing that doesn't make sense...wages to prices. Food is more expensive here than ukraine as far as what I bought. I buy all ingredients to make breakfast every morning, sort of like home cooking. Don't eat luch very often but have nice dinners. Met second girl for dinner last night. Her english was okay but she brought her friend in case we needed help. I did not mind, at times it is nerve wracking to meet someone for first time. She was more attractive than her pics.:)) Meeting went well and she will take me on tour of wineries if weather gets better. I did notice when walking around, girls are different here, certainly more darker hair but fashion seems more informal although several girls had my head turning. Like you I am surprised at the cost of things in Ukraine compared to the average wages they make. The numbers don't add up! If I were to adjust the numbers compared to US wages and Ukraine wages it would cost me about $1000 every time I went to the night club in the US. Thus making it almost impossible to go there. Yet their clubs are packed over there. Hmmmmm. I got a feeling they are making more money than they are telling us. Because I am new to this seen, I am curious if you simply arranged the meeting times with women on your own or through the woman's agency. Are you renting an apt or a hotel room? What is the expectation of the women you are meeting...If they like you do you return to visit again before you start visa paperwork? jetmba. Besides this site, what are your recommendations to find genuine women to meet. Is it best to try one of the "meet women at socials tours" as a first time experience in E. Europe? My first reaction to a tour was it was like going to a whore house of desperate women that could not speak english; but I am sure I am off-base with this first impression. One is not sure the type of women that will attend the socials, I would guess. Can you invite a woman you meet to attend a social? Do you have any recommendations on the airline service? Nothing could be further from the truth. Oh I won't deny that at EVERY Romance Social I have ever been to (done it twice - 3 Socials each, 6 all together) there were a few guys who were just looking to score with th local talent and I'm sure that there were a few prositutes. But you want to know a secret? EVERYWHERE, even here on this site there are guys looking to just score with the local talent and no doubt, a few prositutes. Serious seekers simply look beyond those people. YES you can invite a woman to meet you at a Romance Social - guys do it all the time in fact most Tour Organizers will be more than accomodating as far as helping you invite a special girl, the problem is that MOST girls you are writing to will be insulted to be asked to compete with 200+ other girls on any given night for your attention. Talk about the backlash associated with having a BACKUP PLAN (in another thread) - inviting a special lady to see you is like having 200-600 back ups over three nights and rubbing them all in her face. Oh you could meet her seperately, lie to her about the fact that you are attending a Romance Social - but she will catch on very quickly. These women are NOT stupid or naive. I ONLY lookk for women who speak english. It might be argued that that limits my choices - but I've always been succesful. The women are not desperate - its just that most are SICK of the whole frustrating lette writing experience. (Check your email - hope someone wrote back to you. Write to them. Say clever things, Hope they write back again. Maybe they will, maybe they won't ever visit someday. Tedium Tedium.). Its a MUCH more natural way to meet a woman face to face. And since there are so many more women than men - they will be quite literally competeing (its natural) for your attention. These women are drawn from th registers of several local agencies. They are average FSU women who are looking for foeign husbands (traslated - that means that they are BEAUTIFUL as the typical FSU woman tends to be compared to her western counterpart). But if you think that the average, FSU woman seeking a husband is a WHORE - then perhaps you should be looking elsewhere. All I can say is that I attended two sets of Romance Socials, three years apart - and I met two of the most fantastic women I have ever met in my life. I would never have met these two women through agencies. One was signed UP with an agency but even though her pictures were posted and they regualrly sold her contact information - she never heard from the men involved - the agenies wrote to the gentlemen. The other girl came along as a COMPANION of a girl listed with an agency. She had never been listed herself. In short I love Romance Tours. While its true that they ren't perfect - I think that it is the best way to meet a real genuine EXISTING GIRL ever devised. Been, yes she was very nice but she has a boyfriend, so as friendly and close we got, it was more as good friends. She is likely to move back to Germany!!!! Rjfot, you know it was FIRST time ever for me!!! Usually as I look for seat I go right by the pretty girls, wishing I was guy to sit next to her. I guess eventually, by sear chance you get lucky!! Deano...you are absolutely right on pricing....the drinks at these clubs are $9, just as much as back in US...I ask girls how can they pay this??? They say, it is what it is.....I guess their wages for week are spent on dinner and drinks with NO other disposible income. Toby, stick around and read as much as you can and you will find some of your answers. As many guys know this endevour is very difficult. Just be smart. As far as girls, I tell them when I am coming to visit their city BUT I always make sure during letter writing process they DO want to meet me, very important. Maybe that is reason I actually do meet girls, where it goes after that is between you and girl. I arrange all my travel plans. I do stay in apts only while for a first time person, hotels may be better because there is sopmeone there to help you if you have any questions. Jet, maybe you are right, I tend to take my time with girls. I certainly wouldn't ask her to marry first time I meet her but that is just for me. I need time to get to know girl and most know I meet with another girl. It would take me several trips before I can come close to file fiance visa. I would like to see girl's demeaner during a crisis...someone once told me that, that will tell you how a girl really is as a person. Meeting with these girls is like you are on honeymoon....go here go there....guy is relaxed...girl is wined and dined....when things are going good...everything is great!!!! I see your point. I do know your postive look toward socials, for it has worked for you. As with most things, I try different things until you find one that works, who knows maybe one day I will be at a social, never say never!! As far as my time here, it looks as if I will stay here couple extra days, I built that in just in case I am enjoying myself. I am off to a winery today. I don't know if I will see all girls I planned to meet. I am busy enough with three. Oh, I met third won last night, she spoke no english, so her translator joined us. Girl was very nice, smiled and joked quite a lot(just like our letters), looked different than pics, which is more the norm, she asked to meet again on her day off. What is different to me is both translators I have had were free....gratis.....no pay!!! New experience for me. I was quite happy. As a side note, when girls ask me where I have been, I tell them to outdoor marketplace, they tell me don't go there, there is much crime and I will get robbed. I don't know, it seemed fine to me but I always know what is around me, I did feel like three guys were around me one time. Must have been me rocking to sound of my ipod that may have given me away as a foriegner!!! Met up with friend for a beer, he is from England and married a girl here. We talked about situation here with girls. Seems girls with kids(in 20's) are looked upon very well. As with anywhere...the older men are after younger ladies. I laughed when I was told even the older moldovian men are after the younger ladies. I was at McD's, talking on phone when fella in front of me heard me talking. Turned around and asked if I was american...I thought he was british...only to find he is german...he was meeting a girl there. Older fellow, sure looked older than me but nice chap, we met again in a bar/cafe, while I was drinking with a friend. I was told that just 4 years ago, a crowd of girls would have been around us at cafe. It did get packed after a while, lots of young girls. Of course I was on good behavior because I met with 1st girl there. Met with 2nd girl earlier around lunch time, she looked great, a natural beauty...with no makeup........unfortunately she broke rule #4, don't bring a girlfriend on 3rd date!! :)) Also broke rule #8, don't bring girlfriend to have meal too. Just got that feeling that I was being used in some way to feed the hungry, cost wasn't problem just thought. You figure after a couple dates you will be alone with her!!!! Well, I think she is not working out, too bad, she was interested in making trip to odessa with me......and she wanted to bring a friend of course...not too interested in paying for 3 people where ever we go. My feeling, is I would have gotton to know her pretty well on bus trip, I 'm sure some minds were going elsewhere with that!!! Lower the number the more important. First 2 are obvious, #1 never ask a guy for money and #2 never ask a guy to go on shopping binge. Yes your right about prices, things aren't that cheap. Of course there are cheaper bars that you probably haven't been to that local would go too. Also people don't drink a lot there, probab;y due to the cost but also the cuture. What Ive done last few years is give each city 2 days then off again to a new one! How ackward would that be??? Oh this is so and so...yea, we were out last night!!!! Less info given the better. Don't have to worry about juggling three...... got it down to two and is finally at one. My end is coming tomorrow for here and I found a nice girl, time will tell if she is right girl. Met this one on russian free site, so I could have bypassed all this marriage agency stuff. For me, next set of girls will in my mind, have something to be compared in terms of what I feel is right for me. Late now, time for sleep.
