this is a big problem for those paying their mortgage or rent in Dollars or Euro. Vodka and cigarettes are still cheap. Careful bringing tobacco products across the border.....
It is amazing. You can buy a bottle of wine or vodka for less than $1. I had a luxury apartment in Odessa $20. I now have a jr suite in a 4* inc breakfast $15.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk said Saturday that his country is not on the verge of collapse and that Russian-backed separatists continue to attack Ukrainian soldiers despite a recent cease fire agreement.
“We are very far from a collapse,” Yatsenyuk told Fox News. “You know why? We don't have a cease fire … because a cease fire means that no one shoots. Cease fire means that Russian-led terrorists do not make any kind of ongoing shellings, that they do not kill Ukrainian soldiers and innocent people.”
Beemer, I noticed a few weeks ago that Nikolaev was better on rates than Odesa. Im in a rich part of Kyiv in which people are always buying Dollars to travel.
A lady I know always buys Dollars from me if she cant get Euros but Euros seem to be much easier to get here.
yesterday (Monday)saw 33 to 1
making only my second trip to western ukraine in 10 years (Rivne, Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk). We have a club level Gymnastics event so its me, girlfriend, coach and 5 girls.
Other than a specific visit to a village near the Hungarian border in 2011 and a ski trip 3 years ago, I have not really spent any time in
this part of ukraine since 2005. While generally people were nice when they knew I was American citizen their attitudes were much more harsh and negative when i spoke Russian, which was my default when they didnt speak English at all. While I knew they understood me,(those in my age range, anyway)they were very negative until they knew I was American(I have a Kherson accent). This was after Orange revolution.
Im really curious to see how I am accepted when they dont know I am American, given the current situation. This is first club level event we have competed in since Maidan. Ive heard of big protests and of many conscript age males fleeing the country to Poland in this area to avoid fighting in this war in which many in the west say is fighting for a region that doesnt give a fark about Ukrainian sovereignty anyway.
Lets see how this goes....
anyone else here travel to west Ukraine in search of love? Supposedly the girls are more genuine there.
Rick,, I’m writing to someone in one of the cities you’ve mentioned,, and they do all speak Ukrainian,, and don’t even relate to the people of Kyiv. They might not even care if the eastern part of Ukraine was lost.
I toured all around western Ukraine by rental car last summer. Lviv is an amazing city apart from the incredible traffic. The women are much prettier IMO than in Kiev or the east. It has a sophisticated more European atmosphere with many cafes. Young locals go out in the evenings and the streets were crowded. The girls age 20-30 were just amazing, candy for the eyes everywhere you look. The rest of that region is beautiful but a little overrated compared to how it is described. We made it Uzhorod near the border with Slovakia and then south to Rakhiv, Carpathian mountains, Kolomya, Kamyanets-Podilsky. We visited a small village near the Romanian border where her father is from. Everyone in that village had the same (Ukrainian sounding) last name (weird). Carpathian mountains have good hiking and picturesque landscapes. It was a good trip. Beware of cops. I was stopped four times and was asked to pay bribes. In Lviv, they only speak Ukrainian. In the rest of the region, they speak Russian, as well.
The different oblasts in Ukraine sort of reminds of how some of the cities here in the USA are delineated into specific groups of socio-economic people. From some of the dating sites that I have come across, the majority of the ladies are in Odessa, Nikolaev, and Kiev. There are quite a few in the western regions and also in the northeastern region (Kharkov, Sumy Zaporozhye). Do not hardly see any in Donetsk and Luhansk which is understandable.
Another 20% drop today. If you were in SE Asia in the 90's, you'd be chased by folks willing to get you a woman. Everyone wanted to pimp their friends and relatives. The guy would line up his whole family, wife and two daughters, your pick for five bucks. I think this where Ukraine is headed.
TomZ I'm no match for you, so you can use your keyboard and be as provocative as you'd like, you're causing no heartburn here, just laughs.
There are plenty of bangable russian gals around. Just yesterday, I drove one of my two current model fcars to my hair stylist. They have a new cute russian gal helping them. No need to travel if this were the objective.
In Asia, I was on business. I just said what I observed, which is common knowledge to all those who lived there during those turbulent times.
4re_geo your attitude toward women is quite cavalier. As someone else in the forum pointed out you treat women as objects to be bought.
This probably stems from your lack of self-confidence and rejection in past relationships. You compensate for your past failures by throwing money and gifts at your potential objects of affection. Women quietly resent you for this but at the same time are willing to receive material support from you because they regard you as someone who can give them relatively high monetary returns in exchange for an investment of only a little of their time.
